Detailed Description
The image processing apparatus of the embodiment includes a paper tray, a pickup roller, a paper feed roller, a lifting mechanism, and a control device. The paper tray is provided for loading paper. The pick-up roller sandwiches the sheet with the sheet tray to pick up the sheet. The paper feed roller conveys the paper picked up by the pick-up roller. The lifting mechanism can lift the paper tray to a lifting position where the pickup roller contacts the paper and a lowering position lower than the lifting position. When the paper feed roller conveys the paper, the control device controls the lifting mechanism to move the paper tray to the descending position.
Next, an image processing apparatus of an embodiment will be described with reference to the drawings.
In the present application, the X direction, the Y direction, and the Z direction are defined as follows. The Y direction is the width direction (rotation axis direction) of the conveying roller. The Z direction is the vertical up-down direction. The X direction is a horizontal direction, and is a direction perpendicular to the Y direction and the Z direction.
(First embodiment)
Fig. 1 is an overall configuration diagram of an image processing apparatus 200 according to a first embodiment.
The image processing apparatus 200 according to the first embodiment is, for example, an MFP (Multi-Function Peripherals: multifunction peripheral), a printer, a copier, or the like. An example of the case where the image processing apparatus 200 is the MFP shown in fig. 1 will be described below.
Fig. 2 is a functional configuration diagram of the image processing apparatus 200.
The image processing apparatus 200 includes: the controller 10, the operation unit 20 having a touch panel, the paper feed cassette 30, the paper feed unit 40, the scanner unit 50, the image processing unit 51, the printer unit 60, the fixing unit 90, the paper discharge unit 91, and the manual feed tray 100.
The controller (control device) 10 controls the operations of the respective device portions of the image processing device 200 based on an operation input from the operation unit 20. For example, the controller 10 has a CPU, a Read Only Memory (ROM), a Random Access Memory (RAM), an input-output interface, an input-output control circuit, a paper feed/conveyance control circuit, an image formation control circuit, and a fixing control circuit.
The sheet cassette 30 is a tray that can be pulled out in the Y direction, and accommodates unused sheets P. The paper P stored in the paper feed cassette 30 is fed to the printing unit 60 via the paper feed unit 40.
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feed section 40.
The paper feed section 40 conveys the paper P from the paper feed cassette 30 and the manual tray 100 to the printing section 60. The paper feed section 40 includes a paper feed roller 41 for a paper feed cassette, a pickup roller 42, a paper feed roller 43, a separation roller 44, a conveying roller 45, a registration roller 46, a first paper sensor 47, and a second paper sensor 48.
The paper feed roller 41 for the paper feed cassette feeds the paper P one by one from the paper feed cassette 30 to the conveying roller 45 in accordance with timing of forming a toner image by the printing section 60.
The pickup roller 42 picks up the sheet P loaded on the sheet tray 102 of the manual tray 100 and conveys it to the sheet feed roller 43. As shown in fig. 3, the sheet P is sandwiched between the sheet tray 102 and the pickup roller 42. The sheet P sandwiched between the sheet tray 102 and the pickup roller 42 is conveyed to the sheet feed roller 43 by the rotation of the pickup roller 42.
The paper feed roller 43 conveys the paper P picked up by the pickup roller 42 to the conveyance path R. A belt (not shown) is wound around pulleys provided on the paper feed roller 43 and the pickup roller 42, respectively. The pickup roller 42 rotates in conjunction with the paper feed roller 43 in the same direction by the belt.
The separation roller 44 is disposed below the paper feed roller 43 and faces the paper feed roller 43. The separation roller 44 is provided so as to be able to contact or separate from the sheet P conveyed by the sheet feed roller 43. The rotational driving direction of the separation roller 44 is the same as the rotational direction of the paper feed roller 43. The separation roller 44 has a torque limiter 44f. The torque limiter 44f prevents the overlapped conveyance of the sheets P at the time of sheet feeding.
The conveying roller 45 is a roller disposed on the downstream side of the paper feed roller 43 in the conveying direction on the conveying path R of the paper P. The conveying roller 45 corrects the traveling path of the sheet P conveyed by the paper feed roller 43, and conveys the sheet P to the registration roller 46. The conveying roller 45 is, for example, a pair of rollers, and conveys the sheet P with the sheet P therebetween. The paper feed section 40 may not be provided with the conveying roller 45, and the paper P conveyed by the paper feed roller 43 may be directly conveyed to the registration roller 46.
The registration roller 46 is a roller disposed on the downstream side in the conveying direction of the paper sheet P with respect to the paper feed roller 43 and the conveying roller 45, and is one type of conveying roller. The registration rollers 46 align the position of the leading end of the sheet P in the conveying direction by flexing the sheet P at the nip. The registration roller 46 conveys the sheet P according to the timing of the printing unit 60 transferring the toner image to the sheet P.
The first sheet sensor 47 detects the sheet P conveyed by the sheet feed roller 43. The first sheet sensor 47 detects the sheet P with a photointerrupter or the like. The first sheet sensor 47 is disposed on the downstream side of the sheet feeding roller 43 in the conveying direction on the conveying path R of the sheet P. The first sheet sensor 47 may be disposed on the transport path R of the sheet P on the pickup roller 42 side of the sheet feed roller 43.
The second sheet sensor 48 detects the sheet P conveyed by the conveying roller 45. The second sheet sensor 48 detects the sheet P with a photointerrupter or the like. The second sheet sensor 48 is disposed on the downstream side of the conveying roller 45 in the conveying direction on the conveying path R of the sheet P. The second sheet sensor 48 may be disposed on the sheet feeding roller 43 side of the conveying roller 45 on the conveying path R of the sheet P.
When the conveying roller 45 is not provided to the paper feed unit 40, the second paper sensor 48 detects the paper P conveyed by a roller disposed on the downstream side of the paper feed roller 43 in the conveying direction on the conveying path R, such as the registration roller 46.
The scanner unit 50 reads an image formed on the sheet P to be scanned. For example, the scanner unit 50 reads an image on the sheet P, and generates image data of three primary colors of red (R), green (G), and blue (B). The scanner unit 50 outputs the generated image data to the image processing unit 51.
The image processing unit 51 converts image data generated by the scanner unit 50, image data generated by a personal computer, or the like, into color signals of respective colors. For example, the image processing section 51 converts image data into image data (color signals) of four colors of yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K).
The printing section 60 forms an output image (hereinafter, referred to as "toner image") with toner (developer) based on the image data received from the image processing section 51. The printing section 60 transfers the toner image onto the surface of the paper P. As shown in fig. 2, the printing section 60 has a toner cartridge 62, an image forming section 70, and a transfer unit 80.
As shown in fig. 1, the printing section 60 has a front cover 61 as a housing. The front cover 61 can be opened and closed. When the front cover 61 is opened, an operator can attach and detach various device portions detachably provided in the printing section 60. For example, the operator can open the front cover 61 to attach and detach the toner cartridge 62.
The toner cartridge 62 supplies toner to the image forming portion 70. Along the X direction, a plurality of toner cartridges 62Y, 62M, 62C, 62K are arranged. The plurality of toner cartridges 62Y, 62M, 62C, 62K supply toners of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, respectively.
As shown in fig. 2, the image forming portion 70 has an exposure portion 71 and a photosensitive drum 72. Along the intermediate transfer belt 81, four image forming portions 70Y, 70M, 70C, 70K are arranged. The four image forming portions 70Y, 70M, 70C, 70K form toner images with yellow, magenta, cyan, and black toners, respectively.
The exposure unit 71 performs an exposure step of scanning exposure of the surface of the photosensitive drum 72 based on the image data received from the image processing unit 51. The exposure section 71 has a scanning optical system. The scanning optical system has a light source, a polygon mirror (deflector), and the like. For example, the light source is a laser light source or an LED light source. The polygon mirror reflects light emitted from the light source while rotating. Thereby, the exposure portion 71 performs scanning exposure on the surface of the photosensitive drum 72. At the exposed portion on the surface of the photosensitive drum 72, negative charge disappears. Thereby, an electrostatic latent image based on the image data is formed on the surface of the photosensitive drum 72.
The photosensitive drum 72 is an image carrier that carries an electrostatic latent image. The photosensitive drum 72 is formed in a cylindrical shape. The charged toner is supplied to the surface of the photosensitive drum 72 to develop the electrostatic latent image. The toner image formed on the surface of the photosensitive drum 72 is primary-transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 81.
The transfer unit 80 sequentially performs primary transfer of the respective toner images formed on the surfaces of the respective photosensitive drums 72, thereby forming primary transfer images of the toners of the respective colors. Further, the transfer unit 80 secondarily transfers the primary transfer image onto the sheet P, thereby forming a toner image on the sheet P. As shown in fig. 2, the transfer unit 80 has an intermediate transfer belt 81, a driving roller 82, a driven roller 83, a primary transfer roller 84, and a secondary transfer roller 85.
The intermediate transfer belt 81 is transversely stretched by a driving roller 82 and a plurality of driven rollers 83. The driving roller 82 is rotationally driven by a driving motor, not shown. When the driving roller 82 is driven, the intermediate transfer belt 81 is circulated. The linear velocity of the intermediate transfer belt 81 coincides with a predetermined process linear velocity. The surface of the intermediate transfer belt 81 partially contacts the top of the upper side of each photosensitive drum 72.
Inside the intermediate transfer belt 81, primary transfer rollers 84 are disposed at positions facing the photosensitive drums 72, respectively. When the primary transfer voltage is applied, the primary transfer roller 84 primary transfers the toner image on the photosensitive drum 72 to the intermediate transfer belt 81.
The secondary transfer roller 85 faces the driving roller 82 through the intermediate transfer belt 81. When the sheet P passes between the driving roller 82 and the secondary transfer roller 85, the secondary transfer roller 85 is applied with a secondary transfer voltage. When the secondary transfer voltage is applied, the secondary transfer roller 85 secondarily transfers the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 81 to the paper P.
The fixing unit 90 applies heat and pressure to the sheet P to fix the toner image transferred to the sheet P. The fixing section 90 discharges the sheet P to the sheet discharge section 91. The paper discharge unit 91 mounts the discharged paper P.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the manual tray 100. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the manual tray 100 as seen from a different angle from fig. 4.
The manual tray 100 is a tray that is mounted so as to be openable and closable with respect to the printing unit main body 60 a. When the manual tray 100 is not used, the manual tray 100 is accommodated in the side portion of the printing unit main body 60 a. The manual tray 100 has a manual tray main body 101, a sheet tray 102, a pair of manual guides 103, and a lifting mechanism 104.
The manual tray main body 101 is provided to the printing unit main body 60a so as to be rotatable about a rotation axis extending in the Y direction.
As shown in fig. 3, the sheet tray 102 is a tray for loading sheets P. The paper tray 102 is provided at an upper portion of the manual tray main body 101. The paper tray 102 is rotatably attached to the manual tray main body 101 about a rotation shaft 102a extending in the Y direction. The end 102b of the paper tray 102 on the printing section main body 60a side is rotatable between a position in contact with the manual tray main body 101 and a position in contact with the pickup roller 42. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of manual tray 100 with sheet tray 102 in a position in contact with pickup roller 42.
The sheet tray 102 has a spring 102s between it and the manual tray main body 101. The sheet tray 102 is biased toward a position where the end 102b of the sheet tray 102 contacts the pickup roller 42.
The pair of manual guides 103 are wall-like members extending parallel to the X direction and facing each other in the Y direction. The pair of manual guides 103 is disposed so as to sandwich the sheet P on the sheet tray 102 in the Y direction. The pair of manual guides 103 can move according to the sheet size of the sheet P.
Fig. 7 is a perspective view of the elevating mechanism 104.
The lifting mechanism 104 can lift the sheet tray 102 to a lifting position where the pickup roller 42 contacts the sheet P and a lowering position lower than the lifting position. The elevating mechanism 104 has an electric motor 105, a worm wheel 106, a rotation shaft 107, a drive gear 108, and a cam 109.
The rotation shaft 105a of the motor 105 is orthogonal to the rotation shaft 107 and is connected to the worm wheel 106. The worm wheel 106 converts the rotation of the electric motor 105 into the rotation of the rotation shaft 107.
The rotation shaft 107 is a rotation shaft extending in the Y direction. The rotary shaft 107 is provided with a drive gear 108 and a cam 109 at both ends in the Y direction. The drive gear 108 is a plurality of gears driven by the rotation of the rotation shaft 107. The drive gear 108 rotationally drives the cam 109 about a rotation axis extending in the Y direction.
The cam 109 is rotationally driven, so that the sheet tray 102 can be lifted up and down to a lifting position where the pickup roller 42 contacts the sheet P and a lowering position lower than the lifting position. The cam 109 is rotationally driven, thereby lowering the sheet tray 102 to the lowered position against the urging force of the spring 102 s.
Next, the operation of the manual feed tray 100 in the image processing apparatus 200 will be described.
The user opens the manual feed tray 100 and loads the sheets P on the sheet feed tray 102 of the manual feed tray 100. The user operates the operation unit 20 to set the sheet to be image-processed as the sheet P loaded on the manual feed tray 100.
The controller 10 controls the lifting mechanism 104 to move the sheet tray 102 to the raised position. The sheet P is sandwiched between the sheet tray 102 and the pickup roller 42. Next, the controller 10 drives the pickup roller 42, the paper feed roller 43, and the separation roller 44, and conveys the paper P to the conveyance path R (pickup process and conveyance process).
Fig. 8 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feed section 40 that conveys the paper P.
The first sheet sensor 47 detects the sheet P conveyed by the sheet feeding roller 43 when the sheet P is conveyed by the sheet feeding roller 43.
Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feed section 40 when the first paper sensor 47 detects the paper P.
After the first sheet sensor 47 detects the sheet P, the controller 10 controls the lifting mechanism 104 to lower the sheet tray 102 to a lower position than the raised position (lowering step). The controller 10 may not lower the sheet tray 102 to a position contacting the manual tray main body 101, and may move the sheet tray to a lowered position slightly lower than the raised position. When the sheet tray 102 is located at the lowered position, the sheets P loaded on the sheet tray 102 are not in contact with the pickup roller 42.
As shown in fig. 9, the sheet tray 102 is moved to the lowered position, whereby the curvature of the sheet P as viewed from the Y direction becomes smaller. As a result, the conveyance load of the sheet P acting on the sheet feed roller 43 can be reduced, and the sheet P can be stably conveyed. In addition, the volume of sound generated when the rear end portion (the end portion on the upstream side in the conveying direction) of the sheet P leaves the sheet tray 102 can be reduced.
After the conveyance of the sheet P is completed, the controller 10 moves the sheet tray 102 to the raised position to convey the next sheet P.
According to the image processing apparatus 200, by lifting and lowering the sheet tray 102, the conveyance load of the sheets P conveyed from the manual tray 100 can be reduced. In particular, when thick paper is selected as the paper P, the controller 10 can favorably reduce the conveyance load of the paper P by controlling the paper tray 102 by the above-described lifting mechanism 104. In the present specification, "thick paper" means paper having a weight of 81 to 256g per 1m 2.
When thick paper is selected as the paper P, the controller 10 may cause the paper feed roller 43 to feed the paper P at a lower speed than when paper other than thick paper is selected as the paper P. The volume of sound generated when the rear end portion of the sheet P leaves the sheet tray 102 can be further reduced.
(Second embodiment)
The second embodiment will be described with reference to fig. 10 and 11. In the following description, the same components as those described above are denoted by the same reference numerals, and redundant description thereof is omitted. The configuration of the image processing apparatus 200B according to the second embodiment is the same as that of the image processing apparatus 200 according to the first embodiment, and differs only in the control method of the lifting mechanism 104 by the controller 10.
Next, the controller 10 drives the pickup roller 42, the paper feed roller 43, and the separation roller 44, and conveys the paper P to the conveyance path R.
Fig. 10 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feed section 40 that conveys the paper P.
The second sheet sensor 48 detects the sheet P conveyed by the conveying roller 45 while the conveying roller 45 conveys the sheet P.
Fig. 11 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feed section 40 when the second paper sensor 48 detects the paper P. The length of the conveying path from the pickup roller 42 to the conveying roller 45 is shorter than the maximum sheet length of the sheet P. Thus, when the second sheet sensor 48 detects the sheet P, the rear end portion of the sheet P contacts the sheet tray 102.
After the second sheet sensor 48 detects the sheet P, the controller 10 controls the lifting mechanism 104 to lower the sheet tray 102 to the lowered position lower than the raised position. When the sheet tray 102 is located at the lowered position, the sheets P loaded on the sheet tray 102 are not in contact with the pickup roller 42.
As shown in fig. 11, the sheet tray 102 is moved to the lowered position, whereby the curvature of the sheet P as viewed from the Y direction becomes smaller. As a result, the conveyance load of the sheet P acting on the sheet feed roller 43 can be reduced, and the sheet P can be stably conveyed. In addition, the volume of sound generated when the rear end portion of the sheet P leaves the sheet tray 102 can be reduced.
Fig. 12 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feed section 40 showing the positional relationship between the paper feed roller 43 and the conveying roller 45. When the angle α formed by the tangent L1 at the contact point of the paper P with the paper feed roller 43 perpendicular to the rotation axis of the paper feed roller 43 and the tangent L2 at the contact point of the paper P with the conveying roller 45 perpendicular to the rotation axis of the conveying roller 45 is 100 degrees to 160 degrees, the bending rate of the paper P as viewed from the Y direction is large. At this time, by performing the lowering step of lowering the sheet tray 102 to the lowered position after the second sheet sensor 48 detects the sheet P, the conveyance load of the sheet P can be reduced, and the sheet P can be stably conveyed. In particular, when the angle α is 130 degrees to 140 degrees, the above-described effects obtained by performing the lowering step are further exerted.
According to the image processing apparatus 200B, by lifting and lowering the sheet tray 102, the conveyance load of the sheets P conveyed from the manual tray 100 can be reduced. In particular, when thick paper is selected as the paper P, the controller 10 can favorably reduce the conveyance load of the paper P by controlling the paper tray 102 by the above-described lifting mechanism 104.
According to at least one embodiment described above, in the image processing apparatus having the manual tray 100, the conveyance load of the sheets P conveyed from the manual tray 100 can be reduced.
Although several embodiments have been described, these embodiments are presented by way of example only and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention. In fact, the novel embodiments described herein may be embodied in other various forms, and various omissions, substitutions, and changes in the form of the embodiments described herein may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention. Such forms and modifications are to be included within the scope and spirit of the present invention as also included within the scope of the appended claims and equivalents thereof.
