Abstract

The invention relates to a breakable mounting device (20) designed to assemble two portions (10, 12) of a motor vehicle, said breakable mounting device (20) comprising a fixing lug designed to be slidably inserted into a groove formed on one of these portions (12), and a coupling portion designed to be fixed to the other portion (10).

Technical Field
The present invention relates to motor vehicles and more particularly to mounting devices for assembling elements in a vehicle, such as control units for air conditioning, multimedia, or any other control panel that must be mounted on the dashboard of the vehicle.
Background
Typically, the control unit is mounted to the instrument panel by an integral mounting lug. In the event of a crash, the fixing lug breaks and the entire control unit must be replaced.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is therefore to overcome the above-mentioned disadvantages and to reduce the maintenance costs of the control unit.
A particular object of the present invention is to propose a breakable mounting device configured to be broken and designed for assembling at least two portions of a motor vehicle.
The breakable mounting means comprise a fixing lug designed to slide into a groove formed on one of the parts and a coupling part designed to be fixed to the other part.
Due to the mounting arrangement described herein, in case of a collision, only the mounting arrangement is breakable, which avoids the need to replace an integral part of the vehicle.
Advantageously, the coupling portion comprises a positioning peg designed to be inserted into a corresponding hole present on the other portion and a threaded hole designed to cooperate with a screw to couple the mounting device to the other portion.
The fixing lug may comprise a stop extending vertically towards the control panel and designed to cooperate with a stop of complementary shape arranged on the groove.
According to another aspect, the invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising an instrument panel and a control panel mounted to said instrument panel by means of at least one breakable mounting device as described above.
The breakable mounting means may be positioned on a vertical plane passing through the centre of the control panel.
As a variant, the dashboard and the control panel are coupled by two breakable mounting means configured to be broken.
The two breakable mounting means are located, for example, on top of the control panel.
The two breakable mounts may be symmetrical about a vertical plane passing through the center of the control panel.
For example, a groove that mates with a fixing lug of the mounting device is disposed on the upper surface of the control panel.

Detailed Description
As shown in fig. 1, a portion of an instrument panel of a motor vehicle is indicated by the general reference numeral 10.
A control panel or control unit 12 for controlling, for example, an air conditioning system is mounted on the instrument panel 10 by means of two breakable mounting devices 20, which are configured to be broken and are located on top of the control panel 12. As a variant, there may be only one breakable mounting means. The two mounting devices 20 are symmetrical about a vertical plane passing through the center of the control panel 12.
As shown in detail in fig. 2 and 4, each mounting device 20 comprises a fixing lug 22 designed to cooperate with a T-shaped groove 14 formed on the upper surface 12a of the control panel 12, as shown in fig. 2 and 3.
The fixing lug 22 extends upward with a coupling portion 24 for fixing the mounting device 20 to the instrument panel 10.
Said coupling portion 24 comprises a positioning peg 26 extending in a direction substantially parallel to the groove 14 and designed to be inserted in a corresponding hole 11 formed in the dashboard.
The attachment portion 24 also includes threaded holes 28 designed to mate with screws (not shown) to secure the mounting device 20 to the instrument panel 10.
As shown in detail in fig. 5, each fixing lug 22 comprises a stop 22a extending vertically towards the control panel 12 and designed to cooperate with a stop 14a of complementary shape formed on the groove 14.
Each mounting device 20 is made of a plastic material.
The control panel 12 is mounted on the instrument panel 10 as follows.
Each mounting device 20 is mounted on the control panel 12 by sliding the securing lugs 22 into the corresponding recesses 14 on the control panel 12.
The locating pegs 26 of each mounting device 20 are then inserted into the corresponding holes 11 of the instrument panel 10, and screws (not shown) are screwed into the threaded holes 28 of the mounting devices 20.
Due to the mounting arrangement described herein, only the mounting arrangement may break in case of a collision, thus avoiding the need to replace the entire control panel.

Claims (9)

1. A breakable mounting (20) designed for assembling two portions (10, 12) of a motor vehicle, said breakable mounting (20) comprising a fixing lug (22) designed to be slidably inserted into a groove (14) formed on one (12) of these portions, and a coupling portion (24) designed to be fixed to the other portion (10).
2. The breakable mounting device (20) of claim 1, wherein the coupling portion (24) comprises a positioning stud (26) designed to be inserted into a corresponding hole (11) present on the other portion (10) and a threaded hole (28) designed to cooperate with a screw to couple the mounting device (20) to the other portion (10).
3. The breakable mounting device (20) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the fixing lug (22) comprises a stop (22a) extending vertically towards the control panel (12) and designed to cooperate with a stop (14a) having a complementary shape formed on the groove (14).
4. A motor vehicle comprising an instrument panel (10) and a control panel (12) mounted to said instrument panel (10) by means of at least one breakable mounting device (20) according to any one of the preceding claims.
5. The motor vehicle as claimed in claim 4, wherein the breakable mounting means (20) is positioned on a vertical plane passing through the centre of the control panel (12).
6. The motor vehicle as claimed in claim 4, wherein the dashboard (10) and the control panel (12) are coupled by two breakable mounting means (20).
7. The motor vehicle of claim 6, wherein the two breakable mounts (20) are located on top of the control panel (12).
8. The motor vehicle as claimed in claim 6 or 7, wherein the two breakable mountings (20) are symmetrical about a vertical plane passing through the centre of the control panel (12).
9. The motor vehicle as claimed in any of claims 4 to 8, wherein a recess (14) cooperating with a fixing lug (22) of the mounting device (20) is arranged on the upper surface (12a) of the control panel (12).
