When the flexible circuit board is inserted into the opening of the connector, the flexible circuit board can be scraped with the structure because the structural lead angle at the opening is the first contact point when the flexible circuit board is inserted into the connector, so that the golden fingers on the flexible circuit board are easy to tilt relative to the flexible film.

The invention aims to provide a connector capable of preventing golden fingers from being scratched by a structure when a circuit board is inserted.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a connector adapted to allow a circuit board to be inserted includes a first housing, a second housing, and a plurality of first connection terminals. The first shell is provided with a platform part and a pair of high platform parts, wherein the platform part is provided with a plurality of terminal grooves, the high platform parts are arranged on two sides of the platform part, the height of the high platform parts is higher than that of the platform part, and the platform part is provided with a plurality of terminal grooves; the second shell covers the first shell to form an opening with the first shell; the first connecting terminals are arranged in the terminal grooves, the platform portion, the high platform portion and the first connecting terminals are exposed out of the opening, the circuit board can be inserted into the connector from the opening, when the circuit board is inserted into the connector from the opening, two sides of the circuit board abut against the high platform portion, and the first connecting terminals correspondingly contact with the second connecting terminals of the circuit board.

Reference will now be made in detail to exemplary embodiments of the invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numbers will be used throughout the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like parts.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the connector of the present embodiment, and fig. 2 is a schematic view of a circuit board inserted into the connector of fig. 1. Referring to fig. 1 and fig. 2, the connector 100 of the present embodiment is suitable for inserting a circuit board 200, wherein the circuit board 200 is a flexible circuit board, but is not limited to a flexible circuit board. The connector 100 includes a first housing 110, a second housing 120, and a plurality of first connection terminals 130. The first housing 110 has a terrace portion 112 and a pair of plateau portions 114, wherein the plateau portions 114 are located at opposite sides of the terrace portion 112, and the height of the plateau portions 114 is higher than that of the terrace portion 112, and the terrace portion 112 has a plurality of terminal grooves 113. The second housing 120 covers the first housing 110 and forms an opening 100a with the first housing 110 for inserting the circuit board 200. The first connection terminals 130 are disposed in the terminal slots 113, and the opening 100a exposes the platform portion 112, the plateau portion 114 and the plurality of first connection terminals 130, wherein the circuit board 200 can be inserted into the connector 100 from the opening 100a, and when the circuit board is inserted into the connector from the opening, opposite sides of the circuit board 200 abut against the plateau portion 114, and the plurality of first connection terminals 130 correspondingly contact the plurality of second connection terminals 202 of the circuit board 200.
In detail, each terminal groove 113 is recessed into terrace 112 by the same depth, wherein a height d1 from inner bottom surface 113a of terminal groove 113 to surface 112a of terrace 112 is smaller than a height d2 from inner bottom surface 113a of terminal groove 113 to surface 114a of terrace 114, and a difference between height d2 and height d1 ranges from 0.05mm to 0.07mm, but not limited thereto. The width of the high step portion 114 ranges from 0.1mm to 0.3mm, and the design can be changed according to actual requirements.
In view of the above, the first casing 110 and the second casing 120 of the present embodiment may be assembled into a whole, or the first casing 110 and the second casing 120 may be formed into a whole by injection molding, wherein the platform portion 112 and the elevated portion 114 are both located within the orthogonal projection range of the second casing 120.
In the embodiment, the first connection terminal 130 is a spring piece, and the second connection terminal 202 is a gold finger, wherein the spring piece can be inserted into the terminal groove 113 of the platform part 112 from the rear end (compared with the case that the opening 100a is the front end) of the connector 100. Further, each terrace portion 112 has a turning corner 112c exposed by the opening 100a and each plateau portion 114 has a turning corner 114c exposed by the opening 100 a.
When the assembler plugs the front end of the circuit board 200 into the connector 100, since the raised portion 114 is higher than the platform portion 112, two side edges of the front end of the circuit board 200 will contact the raised portions 114 on two opposite sides of the platform portion 112 first, so as to prevent the second connection terminals 202 of the circuit board 200 from contacting or scratching the corner 112c of the platform portion 112 and tilting or damaging. In addition, the first connection terminal 130 contacts the second connection terminal 202, which is a gold finger, and maintains a good contact state.
Incidentally, since sometimes the assembler may insert the circuit board 200 into the connector 100 at an oblique angle rather than inserting the circuit board 200 into the connector 100 in a manner that the circuit board 200 faces the connector 100 in the forward direction, the corner 114c of the high platform portion 114 may also scratch the second connection terminal 202 (gold finger) of the circuit board 200 and damage the second connection terminal 202, the present invention can round the corner 114c of the high platform portion 114 more, so that the corner 114c of the high platform portion 114 does not present a corner with a significantly changed slope, but presents a more smooth arc shape.
In addition, in order to prevent the first connection terminal 130 and the second connection terminal 202 from being unable to be tightly contacted after the circuit board 200 is inserted into the connector 100 due to assembly tolerance or manufacturing tolerance, the present invention may further provide a plurality of pressing members 122 in the second housing 120, wherein the pressing members 122 are disposed at positions corresponding to the first connection terminals 130 and facing the first connection terminals 130. The pressing member 122 may be a spring sheet integrally formed with the first connecting terminal 130, or may be a spring sheet or a spring additionally assembled to the second housing 120, and is designed according to actual requirements.
In this way, after the circuit board 200 is inserted into the connector 100, the press-fit component 122 above the circuit board 200 applies a force to the circuit board 200, so that the second connection terminals 202 of the circuit board 200 can tightly contact the first connection terminals 130 to maintain electrical connection.
In summary, in the connector of the present invention, the high platform portions higher than the platform portion are disposed on the opposite sides of the platform portion, so that when the circuit board is inserted into the connector, the high platform portions will interfere with the circuit board first, so that the circuit board is inserted into the connector at a height higher than the platform portion, and the second connection terminals can be prevented from scraping the corner of the platform portion and tilting or being damaged when the circuit board is inserted into the connector.

Claims (7)

1. A connector with a circuit board adapted to be inserted into the connector, the connector comprising:
a first housing having a terrace portion having a plurality of terminal grooves and a pair of plateau portions on both sides of the terrace portion, the pair of plateau portions having a height higher than that of the terrace portion;
a second housing covering the first housing to form an opening with the first housing; and
a plurality of first connection terminals provided in the terminal groove, the opening exposing the terrace portion, the pair of plateau portions, and the plurality of first connection terminals,
the circuit board is insertable into the connector from the opening, and when the circuit board is inserted into the connector from the opening, both sides of the circuit board abut against the pair of plateau portions, and the plurality of first connection terminals are brought into contact with the plurality of second connection terminals of the circuit board, respectively.
2. The connector of claim 1, wherein the platform portion and the pair of plateau portions are within a forward projection of the second housing.
3. The connector according to claim 1, wherein the first housing is assembled integrally with the second housing.
4. The connector of claim 1, wherein the first housing and the second housing are injection molded as a single piece using a mold.
5. The connector according to claim 1, wherein the first connecting terminals are spring pieces and the second connecting terminals are golden fingers.
6. The connector of claim 1, wherein the pair of plateau portions have a pair of return angles exposed by the opening, and the pair of return angles are rounded.
7. The connector according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of press-fit pieces disposed corresponding to and facing the first connection terminals in the second housing.
