背景
可折叠容器、水杯和类似物当然是已知的了。例如在申请人自己的在先的美国专利U.S4,930,644中公开了一种可折叠的薄膜塑料容器,其中大部分容器侧壁减小了壁厚,从而允许侧壁随意折叠。在美国专利US4865211中,一塑料瓶整个侧壁厚度不变,但被设计成可通过侧壁一部分套住另一部分的运动使容器折叠。
在美国专利US4,875,576中公开了一种容器,其侧壁的一过渡部分具有褶式手风箱型构造,使容器能够折叠和伸开。该专利还公开了在容器的第一和第二部分之间有螺旋褶纹盘绕着,使侧壁的褶纹部分容易折叠的构造。

本发明概述
本发明具有若干以前在现有技术中未发现的特征,从而形成了简单的、便于使用的、低成本的容器,它可由消费者随意使用和重复使用,可折叠贮存,扩大了贮存空间。同时,由于在过渡部分显著地减小了侧壁厚度,得以减少制造容器时所需塑料的用量。
更具体地说,本发明在所公开的各实施例中提供了一种由一块坯料通过挤出和吹塑制成的容器,其周边侧壁分为上段、过渡段和下段,上下两段壁厚明显大于过渡段的厚度。例如,开创性的确定了当过渡段厚度在大约2-12密耳之间,最好约8密耳,而在上、下段各自的厚度大约在25-60密耳的范围内,最好约为45密耳寸,上、下段以前述套叠关系朝向对方移动过程中过渡段能翻转折叠。

在上述各实施例中,下周边侧壁都可向上套叠在上周边侧壁内,过渡段在二者之间反向折叠。而且如上所述,在各种情形下上段、过渡段和下侧壁段的相对直径都要选择,以便提供适于在套叠动作中不出现过大摩擦的足够的轴向和径向间隙,过大的摩擦力会妨碍伸开与折叠两个位置之间的正反两方向的运动。
如上所述本发明的另一特征是,容器的盖可以是搭锁型、螺纹型或摩擦配合型。但无论什么类型的盖都要有一用来接合并加强环状容器沿以便进一步将盖保持在容器上的内裙部。
因此,广泛地说,本发明涉及一种可重复使用的折叠容器,该容器包括底壁和一个从底壁向上延伸的比较有柔性的周边侧壁,该侧壁可在轴向伸开和折叠两个位置之间运动,在伸开时该侧壁具有下部和上部相对较厚的侧壁段和一相对较薄的过渡侧壁段,上侧壁段带有一环形边缘,该边缘限定了容器的上开口端,该边缘带有可用来接受可卸的盖的部分;其中过渡侧壁段呈沿径向向内向下倾斜的形状,而下侧壁段基本上一直到底壁沿径向向外向下倾斜,从而在折叠时下侧壁段可部分套叠在上侧壁段内,而过渡侧壁段可在二者之间反向折叠,这时下侧壁段的最上端在径向上与上侧壁段隔开。
另一方面,本发明涉及一种可重复使用的折叠式容器,该容器包括一底壁和一可在伸开与折叠位置之间运动的周边侧壁,在伸开时该侧壁具有上段、下段和过渡段,在折叠时下侧壁段被部分套叠在上侧壁段内,而过渡侧壁段在二者之间反向折叠,下侧壁段和过渡侧壁段沿径向向内与上侧壁段隔开。
本发明的另一方面涉及容器与盖的组件,其中的容器体具有一个底壁和从该底壁向上延伸并止于一开口上端的周边侧壁;周边侧壁具有上段,过渡段和下段,过渡段的壁厚显著地比上、下段的壁厚薄,过渡段呈向内向下倾斜,下段呈向外向下倾斜,上段有一围绕开口上端的环形沿,该环形边缘设有可用来接受可卸的盖的第一装置;另外其中的盖具有一个顶壁和一个悬垂裙部,该悬垂裙部包括径向内环和外环,外环具有与第一装置配合的第二装置,内环与环形沿的内表面接合。
本发明的再一方面涉及一可重复使用的折叠式容器,该容器包括一个底壁和一从底壁向上延伸的相对具有挠性的周边侧壁,该侧壁可在轴向伸开和折叠位置之间运动,伸开时具有较厚的上下侧壁段和一相对较薄的过渡侧壁段,上侧壁段与一限定容器的上开口的环形沿一起成形,该边缘与一可卸盖的接受装置一起成形;这时过渡侧壁段呈沿径向向内向下倾斜,而下侧壁段基本上一直到底壁都呈沿径向向外向下倾斜,从而在折叠时,下侧壁段可部分套叠在上侧壁段内,过渡段在二者之间反向折叠,下侧壁段的最上边在径向上与上侧壁段隔开,该径向间隔可作为上侧壁段壁厚的函数来加以确定。
本发明因此提供了独特的容器和盖的结构,它可用于各种目的。这种容器在折叠起来时有利于运输、堆垛和在一起存放,从而可有效地利用空间。同时该容器的体积很容易膨胀扩大,这特别适用于存放食物(冷冻或冷藏的)或其它物品。

实施本发明的最佳方式
参考图1至5,按照本发明的第一基本实施例的挤出/吹塑容器概括地讲包括一个底壁12和从底壁12向上延伸的周边侧壁14。该容器可以由低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)、聚丙烯或其它适用的塑性材料制成。这里描述的实施例中,侧壁一般为圆形(当沿容器的横截面看时),但也可以为其它适用的形状。周边侧壁止于一开口上端16。
在本实施例中,周边侧壁14被加工成三个轴向部分,包括一上段18,一过渡段20和一下段22。上段18和过渡段20的轴向长度一般相仿,而下部22的轴向长度略大一些,其原因将在下面描述。侧壁18和22的示范厚度可在大约25和60密耳的范围内,最好约为45密耳(1.142mm)。如果必要,底壁可以比这厚许多。过渡段侧壁20的厚度可以在大约2至12密耳(.0508-.305mm)之间,最好约为8密耳。还肯定了:在各种情况下,都要将上下各侧壁段与过渡侧壁段之间的厚度比至少是3.75比1,最好为大约5比1。通过这比率,绝对壁厚值可以随容器直径和轴向长度,因此可随容积变化。应当理解,各侧壁段壁厚本身还多少受优先的挤出吹塑工艺或其它适用的工艺如注塑的影响而变化。
由于后面将叙述的侧壁的轮廓形状,壁厚尺寸的范围可以扩大。例如薄的过渡段侧壁20的壁厚可以在大约2至大约22密耳之间。上下侧壁段22的壁厚可在大约25至大约75密耳或更大的范围内。而上下侧壁段壁厚与过渡段壁厚的比率可从至少3.75比1减小为至少3比1。如上所述,壁厚尺寸被视作具体指定的容器区域上的平均值,由于塑料成形技术的性质,这种厚度会略有变化。
容器侧壁14的最上端包括一个适于接受可卸的盖或帽的环形沿,该环形边的厚度可以与上侧壁段相同或比它大。虽然上下侧壁段18和22为挠性的,但与薄得多的过渡段20相比,它们是相对刚性的。这种结构使容器易于以下面将更详细描述的方式折叠、伸开和再折叠。
所述三个侧壁部分18、20和22被一对过渡台阶24、26隔开,过渡台阶24、26可包括沿径向向内的褶皱或凹槽,它们基本上是由相邻侧壁段之间的交界面处壁厚的变化所形成。这些过渡台阶适于下侧壁部22进入上侧壁段18的套叠操作,也适于过渡段侧壁20相对于下侧壁段22的反向折叠。
周边侧壁的轮廓形状,也使容器易于折叠或伸开。例如在这第一基本实施例中,上周边侧壁18基本上是圆柱形的,即直径基本上不变。而过渡段周边侧壁20呈向内向下倾斜,即过渡段20的直径在向下的方向上基本上均匀地减小。而下侧壁段22则为方向相反倾斜,即下周边侧壁段的直径在向下的方向上基本上均匀地增加。但应当知道,这些锥形表面在轴向上也可以是曲线的,即锥形直径不必限制为均匀地增加或减小。这种外形特别有利于通过在容器的顶上或底下施加轴向压力,使下过渡段22向上朝上周边侧壁段18运动,从而以图4中可最清楚看到的方式使过渡段周边侧壁20反向折叠,基于这种考虑,特别参考图3和4,最好上述侧壁结构中上侧壁段18的直径与下侧壁段22的最上端直径(即:下侧壁段的最小直径)间有一显著的差。这个直径差或径向间隙由过渡侧壁段20的锥度所决定,而锥度又取决于该侧壁段的最大和最小直径。下面举例给出涉及不同容器的容器的侧壁段20的尺寸,但决无对按本发明的构造的容器的尺寸施加限制之意。

应当知道,为了获得各种情况下的纯径向间隙,应从上面给出的值中减去壁厚。这间隙最好在大约.187至.5英寸的范围内,取决于容器尺寸,壁厚尺寸可以取在.125至2.0英寸的范围内。通过这种结构,当下部侧壁套叠在上部侧壁内(在伸开过程中的相反运动中同样)时可将摩擦阻力减至最小。事实上,在图4中可看得最清楚,当容器折起时,下侧壁段22与过渡段20都不与上侧壁18的内表面接触。
现已确定,另一种确定必要的径向间隙的方法是使该间隙作为上侧壁段壁厚的一函数。由于上下侧壁段18和22的外径是由模具表面所确定的,在此成为关键的是上侧壁段18的内径。对于本发明的各种基本应用,已测定理想的径向间隙(它决定了容器折叠和/或打开的容易程度)应在大约3至大约10倍于上段18的壁厚之间。例如,对于一上侧壁段厚度为.048"的24盎司容器,如上所限定的径向间隙应为大约.250"。
由于下侧壁22的加长,而且由于其向下外倾斜,过渡段20完全翻转,以致下段22套叠在上段20内时,下段露出一下端23(见图4),这为使用者在容器上施加一拉力以便将它重新扩张到如图1所示的伸开位置提供了一个良好的抓取点。因此,锥形下侧壁段(其上端直径由过渡段20的锥度所控制)起到了三重作用,1)使下侧壁段易于套叠在上侧壁段18内;2)为容器提供了良好的稳定性,否则由于容器的直径向下端递减会削弱稳定性;3)为使用者在容器的相对端施加推拉力提供了容易接近的抓取点。
现在特别地参考图5,容器10的开口端16加工出与一径向向外延伸的凸肩28,该凸肩28联接到上周边侧壁段18的上边缘。凸肩28与一基本上呈倒L形的边30相连,该倒L形边30包括一基本垂直的主干段32和一终止于一外周边36的径向法兰34,由此形成了一环形帽或盖的接受边。
凸肩28、垂直主干段32和径向法兰34可以与上下侧壁段18和22厚度相同,也可大些,但可能略有变化,这取决于容器上端如何成形,即与侧壁同时吹塑成形还是挤压成形。
在此第一主要实施例中,附带的帽38包括一中心盘区域40和一基本上为倒U形的悬垂裙部44。中心盘区域40包括一在周边上直立的中空肋42。而裙部包括一内环裙部分46和一径向外环裙部分48,由一环形水平连接板60将它们联结在一起。外环裙部分48止于一个向外倾斜的抓取边52,它可完全(或仅一部分)包围帽38。
外环裙部48上也有一个指向内侧的环状凸出物或突缘54设在连接板60下面并与它十分邻近。
使用时,将帽38被压在容器上,使凸缘54咬住容器沿30的周边36。这可以这样实现,将帽38的一部分扣压在容器10上,然后围绕容器10的周边渐进地施加一压力(在帽与容器边缘之间),直到帽38全部牢固地联接到容器上。同时,内环裙部46基本上连续地围绕容器与垂直主干段32的内侧接合,最好在径向上将二者压紧。容器上沿30的相对刚度及内环裙部分46和容器边缘的垂直部分32之间的加压接合可保证将盖38牢固地联接到容器10上。通过这种结构,帽38不会由于容器侧壁的弯曲或不小心掉落时的撞击等而脱离容器10。
现在参考图6,该图所示第一实施例的一个变型包括一个螺纹联接型帽38。更具体地说,容器10'的开口上端16'形成一径向向外延伸并联接到上周边侧壁18'的上缘上的凸肩28'。该凸肩28'与一基本垂直的环形主干段32'相联,环形主干段32'的外表面上环绕着螺纹62。帽38'具有一个包含一周边空心肋42'的中心盘区域40'和一个再一次呈倒U形的悬垂裙部44'。具体地说,裙部包括一内环裙部46'和一径向靠外的环形裙部48',由一水平环形连接板60'将它们联接在一起。连接板60'的径向宽度基本上与主干段32'的壁厚相同,以便使内外裙部46'、48'与主干段32'接合平整。外环裙部48'止于一向外倾斜的抓取边52',该抓取边如同前述实施例中那样,它可以完全包围帽而延伸。
外环裙部48'的内表面上带有螺纹64,该螺纹64适于与垂直主干段32'上的外表面上的螺纹62相配合。帽38'可以用通常的方式旋到容器10'上,其时内环裙部46'与主干段32'的内表面接合使它加强,并采用与前述实施例中的内悬垂裙部46'相同的方式防止帽38'的移动。
在图7中示出了第一基本实施例中的另一变型。这里,容器边缘仅包括一个沿径向向外延伸的板条或凸肩28"和一个向上略微向外的延伸部30"。帽38"与内、外悬垂裙部46"和48"同时一体成形,二悬垂裙部所形成的沟槽可压在主干段32"上形成较紧的摩擦接合。换句话说,本实施例与图6所示的实施例相似,但省略了螺纹以便更有利地采用滑动摩擦配合。
应该懂得,其它将帽联接到容器上的方式也可采用,只要带有能够加强挠性容器边缘的设施如内裙部(46、46'和46"),以便保证在非正常情况下仍能使帽保留在容器上即可,这些非正常情况例如容器意外跌落,容器侧壁受到严重挤压和其他不采用本发明就会导致容器边缘挠曲或临时弹性变形及容器帽移动的情况。
现在参考图8,该图示出了本发明第一基本实施例的另一变型,其中容器开口上端的环形边缘包括一沿径向向内并向上倾斜肩部68和一垂直延伸的主干段70,主干段70上带有与帽74螺纹联接的螺纹72。帽的内外裙部76、78与主干段70按前面所描述的方式配合。
当将可卸盖或帽74加到容器上时,外环裙部78基本上与上周边侧壁80在径向上平齐,因此提供了从盖74到上侧壁之间的光滑过渡。包括侧壁过渡段和下侧壁段的容器的结构及其各部分尺寸与前面描述的各种变型中的情况相似,因此无需赘述。
具体参考图9,应该知道,当容器在轴向上压缩到折叠状态时,上周边侧壁段80内不论沿径向还是轴向都有足够的空间可以容纳下周边侧壁段84和过渡侧壁段82而不受肩部68的干挠。
图8A中示出了上侧壁的另一种可选用的设计,其中上侧壁段80'基本均匀地从过渡侧壁段82延伸至外螺纹72'。在这种变型中,帽当然就全沿径向伸出到上侧壁段80'之外。
转到图10和11,该两图示出了本发明的第二基本实施例。在这第二实施例中,上周边侧壁段86在成形时带有一个沿径向向外伸出的空心肋88,它包括相对倾斜部分90、92和一在最外的基本竖直部分94。空心肋位于上周边侧壁段86的上下端的中间。
加入肋88特别有利于提供一个便于使用者折叠和伸开容器时的抓取点。参考图11,又一次很容易看到,在折叠位置上的侧壁的轮廓使上侧壁段86容易容纳下周边侧壁段96和过渡周边侧壁段98,同前面实施例所描述的方式一样,也不会受到任何妨碍。
现在转到图12和13,该两图示出了本发明的第三实施例。其中上周边侧壁段100改为包括一个向上向外倾斜段102,和一个联接到该倾斜段102的沿径向向内倾斜段104。表面102联接到直立的环形边106,其上也有如前所述的外螺纹。上周边侧壁段100倾斜面102也为使用者便于将容器在图12所示的伸开位置与图13所示的折叠位置之间折叠和伸开提供了很好的抓取面。如同在前面所述的两实施例中的情况,上周边侧壁段100的轮廓留出的轴向和径向空间比在折叠状态下容纳下周边侧壁段108和过渡周边侧壁段110所需的还要多。在其他方面,过渡段侧壁和下周边侧壁110、108都与前述实施例中基本相同。
上述上周边侧壁的各种轮廓只是想作为范例,本发明并不受其限定。
上述容器可用于多种目的。例如容器可从制造商那里不装东西运到另一处来装食物或其他材料。也可将空容器出售给消费者作为食物及/或其他材料的贮存容器。在第二种情况中这种容器特别有利,它可在运输过程中和两次使用之间折叠并高效地存放。
虽然本发明是结合目前被认为最实用和最好的实施例加以描述的,但应理解,本发明不被所公开的实施例所限定,与此相反,本发明应覆盖包括在权利要求书中的精神和范围内的各种改进和等同的装置。
Claims (30)
1.种可重复、使用可折叠的容器,包括:一个底壁和从所述底壁向上延伸的相对挠性的周边侧壁,所述侧壁可在轴向伸开和折叠两个位置之间运动,在伸开时具有相对较厚的上、下侧壁段和一相对较薄的过渡侧壁段,所述上侧壁段在形成时设有一个限定容器的上开口端的环形沿,所述沿加工出一个可用来接受可卸盖的装置;其特征在于:所述过渡侧壁段沿径向向内向下倾斜,所述下侧壁段基本延伸到所述底壁并沿径向向外向下倾斜,从而在折叠时所述下侧壁段可部分套叠在所述上侧壁段之内,而所述过渡段可在二者之间反向折叠,并且使所述下侧壁段的最上边在径向向上与所述上侧壁段隔开。
2.如权利要求1的容器,其特征在于:当容器处于折叠状态时,部分所述下侧壁段露在外面,从而提供一抓取区域。
3.如权利要求1的容器,其特征在于:所述容器侧壁和所述沿的横截面为圆形,并且所述上周边侧壁的直径基本是一致的。
4.如权利要求1的容器,其特征在于:所述沿包括一沿径向向外伸出的凸肩和一基本垂直的主干段。

16.如权利要求15的折叠容器,其特征在于:所述过渡侧壁段沿径向向内向下倾斜,所述下侧壁段基本上至所述底壁沿径向向外向下倾斜,所述下侧壁的一部分从所述上侧壁向下突出从而可提供一个抓取表面。
17.如权利要求15的折叠容器,其特征在于:所述上侧壁段基本为圆筒状,直径基本上为一致的。
18.如权利要求15的折叠容器,其特征在于:所述容器由一种低密度聚乙烯或聚丙烯构成。
19.如权利要求15的折叠容器,其特征在于:所述上侧壁段的壁厚在大约25和60密耳之间,所述过渡侧壁段壁厚在大约2和12密耳之间。

24.如权利要求23的容器和帽的组合件,其特征在于,所述上侧壁段的直径基本一致,比所述过渡段的最大直径和所述下段的最大直径都大。
25.如权利要求24的容器和帽的组合件,其特征在于,所述周边侧壁段可折叠到一位置,在此位置,所述过渡侧壁段可完全反向折叠到所述上侧壁段内,而所述下侧壁段可部分套叠在所述上侧壁段内。
26.一种可重复使用的可折叠容器具有一个底壁和从所述底壁向上延伸的具有相对有柔性周边侧壁,所述侧壁可在轴向的伸开和折叠两个位置之间运动,在伸开位置,所述侧壁具有较厚的下、上侧壁段和一较薄的过渡侧壁段,其特征在于:所述过渡侧壁段为沿径向向内向下倾斜,所述下侧壁段为基本上延伸至所述底壁的沿径向向外向下倾斜,这样在所述折叠位置,所述下侧壁段便可部分套叠在所述上侧壁段内,而所述过渡段可在二者之间反向套叠,另外还在径向上使所述下侧壁段的最上边与所述上侧壁段隔开,该径向间隙可作为上侧壁段壁厚的一个函数来确定。

29.如权利要求27的容器,其特征在于,上、下侧壁段壁厚与过渡侧壁段壁厚的比率至少为3比1。
