Only the elements necessary for an understanding of the present invention are shown. To facilitate reading of the figures, identical elements are denoted by the same reference numerals in the different figures. Note that in this document, the terms "horizontal", "vertical", "lower", "upper", "front (plus)", "rear (back)" used to describe the device refer to the device when it is laid flat on its base as shown in fig. 1.
Fig. 1 to 5 show an ironing apparatus comprising a base 1 supporting an ironing board 5, the base 1 comprising a gap where a base 3 for generating steam is removably mounted.
The base 1 has, in a manner known per se, a reservoir for supplying water to the boiling chamber or a container for generating steam under pressure, not shown in the figures. The base 1 is connected to an iron 31 by means of a flexible conduit 30, the iron 31 having apertures for steam discharge, only shown in fig. 1.
Such a seat 1 for generating steam is well known to the skilled person and is for example technically similar to the seat for generating steam described in detail in patent application WO 2004/023957.
According to fig. 2 to 4, the plate 5 is carried by a bracket comprising first hinging means 7 advantageously integrated in the plate 5, which allow the plate 5 to pivot about a first pivot axis (preferably horizontal), and second hinging means 4 arranged on the legs of the plate 5, which second hinging means 4 allow the plate 5 to pivot about a second pivot axis parallel to the first pivot axis.
The second hinging means 4 are advantageously carried by two telescopic rods 10 extending vertically from the base 1, the height of the two rods 10 being adjustable by the user to adapt the height of the plate 5 to the user's conformation.
According to fig. 6, the second hinging means 4 are intended to support a frame 6, the plate 5 being fastened to the frame 6, the plate 5 having a front panel 50 and a rear panel 51 fastened to both sides of the frame 6.
According to fig. 7 and 8, the second hinging means 4 comprise a cross-bar 40 connecting the two ends of the telescopic rod 10 and comprise a base plate 41, the base plate 41 being pivotable with respect to the cross-bar 40 between a vertical position (as shown in fig. 1 to 3), in which the longitudinal axis of the plate 5 is arranged vertically, and an inclined position (as shown in fig. 4), in which the longitudinal axis of the plate 5 is inclined by about 20 ° with respect to the vertical plane.
The base plate 41 is pivotally mounted on the crossbar 40 by means of connecting means similar to those described in more detail in patent application FR3068372 filed by the applicant, each longitudinal end of the base plate 41 having a pivot shaft 42 (visible in figures 7 and 9), the pivot shaft 42 being movably mounted in an oblong recess 43 formed in a support plate 44, the support plate 44 being arranged at each end of the crossbar 40, the base plate 41 further comprising a locking shaft 45, the locking shaft 45 being engageable in a first blocking notch 46A formed in the edge of the support plate 44 to fix the plate 5 in the vertical position and in a second blocking notch 46B to fix the plate 5 in the inclined position.
Preferably, the base plate 41 supports iron resting means 46, which allow resting the iron 31 during the inactive phase of ironing.

According to fig. 6, the front panel 50 of the plate 5 comprises a lower part 50A and an upper part 50B of similar shape, which when butted together form an advantageously flat or slightly curved front surface extending in the longitudinal direction L, the lower part 50A and the upper part 50B being fastened to the hinge 7.
The rear panel 51 further comprises a lower part 51A and an upper part 51B of similar shape, which when butted together form an advantageously flat or slightly curved back surface extending in the longitudinal direction L, only the upper part of the rear panel 51 being fastened to the hinge 7.
Preferably, the front panel 50 and the rear panel 51 are made of a plastic material and have a plurality of through holes that are permeable to steam. They advantageously have a length of about 70cm, a width of about 39cm and a thickness of about 3 cm.
According to fig. 7, the guide bar 60 serves as a rotation shaft of the tube 62, the tube 62 supports a lower fastening flange 63 and an upper fastening flange 64, the lower portion 51A of the rear panel 51 is fastened to the upper fastening flange 64, and the lower fastening flange 63 and the upper fastening flange 64 are mounted to be translationally movable along the tube 62.
The base of the lower fastening flange 63 comprises a cup 65, the cup 65 forming a housing for a return spring 66. The return spring 66 has an upper end which rests on the cup 65 and a lower end which rests on the upper surface of a disc 67 fastened to the tube 62, so that the return spring 66 pushes the lower fastening flange 63 towards the cross member 61.
Preferably, the base plate 41 also comprises two locking pins 48, as shown in fig. 11, the locking pins 48 having tapered ends for cooperating with two openings 68 formed in the lower surface of the disc 67 to fix the lower fastening flange 63 in the standard position, as shown in fig. 1 to 4, in which the plate 5 is arranged parallel to the base plate 41, the two locking pins 48 being urged towards the disc 67 by the return spring 49.
According to fig. 7 and 11, the upper fastening flange 64 has an upper end provided with a guide head 69, the guide head 69 comprising two bores 69A, into which the fingers 61A carried by the lower surface of the cross member 61 penetrate, so that the cooperation of the fingers 61A with the bores 69A allows the upper fastening flange 64 and the cross member 61 to be rotationally connected to each other, while allowing the upper fastening flange 64 to move translationally with respect to the cross member 61.
According to fig. 12 to 14, each hinge 7 has a pivot shaft 70, which pivot shaft 70 is movably mounted in an oval recess 71, which recess 71 is formed in a support wall 72 arranged at each end of the cross member 61.
Each hinge 7 comprises a stop 73 which blocks the hinge from pivoting beyond a first position, as shown in fig. 12, in which the upper parts of the front 50 and rear 51 panels of the plate 5 are arranged parallel to the guide bar 60. This stop 73 is advantageously constituted by a finger connected to the hinge 7, which abuts against a shoulder 74 of the support wall 72, and/or by a shaft 75 carried by the support wall 72, which abuts against the bottom of a groove 76 formed on the hinge 7.
When the hinge 7 occupies the first position, the front panel 50 is preferably locked to the lower part of the rear panel 51 by means of the latch 8 visible in fig. 6, 15 and 16.
The latch is advantageously carried by the front panel 50 and is pivotally mounted about an axis 81 and abuts a return spring, not visible in the figures.
In the illustrated embodiment, the latch 8 is arranged at the lower edge of the front panel 50 and has a curved end portion which engages behind a locking rib 80 provided on the lower portion of the rear panel 51, as shown in fig. 16, to block the rotation of the front panel 50 in the position in which the hinge 7 occupies the first position. The latch 8 is preferably provided with an unlocking button 82 accessible from the edge of the front panel 50, which, when the unlocking button 82 is pressed, allows pivoting the latch 8 into an unlocked position in which the end of the latch 8 no longer engages behind the locking rib 80.
When the latch 8 occupies this unlocked position, the upper portions of the front and rear panels 50, 51 of the plate 5 are free to tilt perpendicular to the guide bar 60 by rotating the hinge 7 to the second position, as shown in fig. 13.
In order to fix the plate 5 in this second position, the hinge 7 has locking means which advantageously comprise a V-shaped groove 77 formed on the upper edge of the fastening wall 72, in which a locking lever 78 carried by the hinge 7 engages, the locking lever 78 extending through the through hole of the hinge 7.
According to fig. 9 and 15, the support of the plate 5 advantageously comprises clamping means 9 for fixing the second hinging means 4 in the vertical position. The gripping means 9 are constituted by a system of the rod or noose closure type comprising a rod 90 pivotally mounted on the crossbar 40 about a first axis 91, and a ring 92 pivotally mounted on the rod 90 about a second axis 93, the second axis 93 being offset with respect to the first axis 91, the ring 92 being intended to be hooked onto a hook 94 fastened to the lower end of the guide bar 60.
Lever 90 can be manually tilted from the release position shown in fig. 9, in which loop 92 does not exert any traction on hook 94, to the clamping position shown in fig. 15, in which lever 90 exerts traction on hook 94. In this clamped position, the locking shaft 45 of the base plate 41 is applied under stress in the first notch 46A, preventing any movement of the base plate 41 on the crossbar 40.
The ironing apparatus thus obtained comprises a plate 5 having two faces 50, 51 against which the garment to be ironed can be placed for steam treatment by means of an iron 31 or an ironing brush, which has the advantage of being able to be arranged in a plurality of orientations, so as to provide good ergonomics during use.
In particular, the plate 5 may be arranged in the position shown in fig. 1, with the hinge 7 for supporting the upper portions 51B of the front 50 and rear 51 plates of the plate 5 in the first position and the base plate 41 for the support frame 6 in the vertical position.
In this position, the plate 5 is in a vertical position, the lower part 51A and the upper part 51B of the rear panel 51 are arranged in the same vertical plane, and the lower part 51A of the rear panel 51 is pressed by the return spring 66 in the direction of the upper part 51B towards a rest position, in which the lower part 51A and the upper part 51B of the rear panel 51 are arranged opposite each other and substantially connected.
The thus formed plate 5 can also be easily tilted to a 20 deg. tilted position by releasing the latch 90 so that the base plate 41 can be lifted and tilted to the tilted position, as shown in fig. 4.
The user can also pivot the plate 5 through 180 ° about the guide bar 60, as shown in fig. 5, by simply exerting a force on the plate 5 such that the locking pins 48 oppose their return springs 49 and exit the openings 68, so that the plate 5 is free to rotate through 180 ° due to the rotation of the fastening flange and the tube 62 about the guide bar 60.
Of course, this rotation of the plate 5 about the guide bar 60 can be achieved when the base plate 41 occupies the vertical position, and when the base plate 41 occupies the inclined position shown in fig. 4.
According to fig. 2 and 3, the plate 5 is unlocked by pressing an unlocking button 82 associated with the latch 80, and then pressure is exerted on the plate 5, so that the plate 5 is tilted towards the horizontal direction, while the front panel 50 is facing upwards, whereby the plate 5 can also be brought into the horizontal position.
During this tilting movement, the rotationally driven lower edge of the upper portion 51B of the rear panel 51 exerts a pressure on the upper edge of the lower portion 51A of the rear panel 51, causing the lower portion 51A to move translationally along the tube 62 against the return spring 66 to a deployed position in which the upper edge of the lower portion 51A is sufficiently far from the lower edge of the upper portion 51B to enable the upper portion 51B of the rear panel 51 to rotate.
When the upper portion 51B of the rear panel 51 is horizontally disposed, the lower edge of the upper portion 51B of the rear panel 51 no longer interferes with the upper edge of the lower portion 51A of the rear panel 51, and the return spring 66 returns the upper edge of the lower portion 51A of the rear panel 51 to a position immediately adjacent to the front panel 50, as shown in fig. 2 and 3.
In this position, the hinge 7 is locked in the second position by inserting the locking lever 78 into the V-shaped groove 77.
However, in this horizontal position of the plate 5, when the user exerts pressure on the plate 5, the large projection created by the plate 5 may cause the base plate 41 to deflect slightly on the crossbar 40, due to the possible movement of the locking shaft 45 and the pivot shaft 42 in the notch 46A and the oval groove 43.
To eliminate this inconvenience, the base plate 41 may be fixed on the cross bar 40 by moving the bar to the clamping position, as shown in fig. 15.
Preferably, as shown in fig. 4, the panel 5 may be covered by a two-part protective cover, a first part of which has a shape adapted to cover the upper parts of the front and rear panels 50 and 51, and a second part of which covers only the lower part of the rear panel 51.
Such a protective cover, which in a known manner is made of a material permeable to vapour, enables the lower part of the rear panel 51 to move freely with respect to the upper part, while covering the plate 5 to make contact with the plate more comfortable.
The ironing apparatus thus made has the advantage of providing a large number of possible configurations for the positioning of the plate, allowing to optimize its ergonomics of use during the ironing/ironing work carried out by means of the iron or ironing brush.
In particular, the panel has the advantage of being fastened to a frame, which is integrated into the panel, which has the advantage of being substantially invisible, which is perfectly integrated between the front panel and the rear panel when the panel occupies a substantially vertical position. Thus, both sides of the board can be used for the vertical ironing operation without the frame causing any inconvenience. This integration of the frame between the panels of the board prevents clothing from getting caught or soiled when in contact with the frame.
Furthermore, the frame has a lower end projecting from the plate, and the lower end is pivotally mounted relative to the base, allowing the entire plate to rotate about a horizontal axis.
In a vertical ironing operation, the user may also rotate the plate about the guide bar, which then assumes a vertical position to bring the plate to the orientation most suitable for it.
The frame also has the advantage of making it possible for three quarters of the body of the plate to rotate about a second horizontal axis, advantageously arranged at the middle height of the plate, to allow the use of the plate in a substantially horizontal position in which the front face provides a working surface suitable for ironing with an iron, while allowing the user to exert a greater pressure on the garment to be treated.
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and shown, which are given as examples only. Modifications are still possible, in particular from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without going beyond the scope of protection of the invention.
Thus, in a variant of embodiment not shown, the second hinging means can have more notches, so that the ironing board can be fixed in more positions.
Thus, in a variant of embodiment not shown, the ironing board support can have only one telescopic bar, instead of two.
