Abstract

A protective cover for a display of an electronic device, the protective cover being comprised of at least three layers: carrier foil, a basic protective layer, and a layer of protective glue on the protective layer, characterized in that the carrier foil (1) has an element (2) with a hole (3) allowing the carrier foil to be threaded on a USB plug, which element protrudes from the shape of the electronic device such that the hole (3) coincides with a USB socket and the foil perfectly covers the display after the plug is threaded and the plug is inserted into the USB socket of the electronic device, and the carrier foil (1) has an additional element (4) to be gripped, wherein the carrier foil (1) with the hole (3) is neither covered by the basic foil nor by the protective glue on the basic foil.

Description

Protective cover for a display of an electronic device
The subject of the invention is a protective cover (foil, tempered glass, or foil combined with glass known as elastic or composite glass) for the display of electronic devices such as smart phones, mobile phones, palm computers, tablets, digital cameras, etc.
Most modern electronic devices are equipped with touch sensitive displays (screens), which are susceptible to scratching, cracking, and soiling. On the one hand, keeping these touch sensitive displays in good condition can cause problems, while on the other hand it keeps the device comfortable to use. Therefore, protective covers have been attached to displays for many years to prevent the displays from scratching, soiling, and cracking. The protective cover may also prevent reflections, excessive blue glare, or unwanted peeking by outsiders. It is not really convenient to apply the display cover manually and accurately. Thus, many manufacturers provide different types of stabilizers that can properly adjust the protective cover of the display. The protective cover is provided to the customer in two layers: a base protective foil (protective glass or glass foil combination) and a foil protective paste on the base foil (protective glass).
The description of utility model application PL 123170 discloses a stabilizing device for applying a protective foil sheet on the LCD screen of a mobile phone, comprising: a fixing block in the form of a strip; the USB connector is arranged on the fixed block and is matched with a USB socket of the mobile phone; and bolts on the fixing block, the positions and the number of the bolts corresponding to the mounting holes in the protective foil of the screen. In this solution it is necessary to apply an additional upper carrier layer and additional elements for adjusting the protective foil, whereas the carrier foil requires the preparation of at least two holes for the cooperation with the bolts of the stabilizing device.

In this solution, the quality of the application of the protective foil is mainly dependent on the hands-on ability of the person.
Surprisingly, a much simpler solution without additional stabilizing elements provides the claimed precise application of protective foil, tempered glass, or elastic glass. The protective cover for a display of an electronic device according to the present invention is composed of at least three layers: carrier foil, base protective layer, and layer protective glue on the protective layer, characterized in that the carrier foil has an element with a hole allowing the carrier foil to be threaded on a USB plug, the element protruding from the shape of the electronic device such that the hole coincides with the USB socket, and the foil perfectly covers the display after the plug is threaded and the head is inserted into the USB socket of the electronic device. The carrier foil is equipped with additional elements which are gripped by fingers during operation. The carrier foil with holes is not covered by the base foil nor by the protective layer glue on the base foil. The protective layer comprises any one of elastic glass, tempered glass, or polymer foil.
The solution according to the invention does not require any additional elements for stabilization during the application of the protective cover on the display and maintains the accuracy of the application of the protective foil, tempered glass, or elastic glass. It greatly reduces the price of the protective cover and, contrary to competitive solutions, can be used without purchasing any other equipment. Due to the rigidity of the carrier foil and the use of standard wires of a USB socket (in most cases standard equipment of the device) to fix the apertured element, a precise positioning on the display can be achieved. For each model of electronic device, a suitably contoured protective cover should be produced (cut) with a carrier foil of both processes (elements with holes and elements for gripping, which are to be adjusted according to the model).
In exemplary embodiments, the subject matter of the invention is presented in the accompanying drawings, in which: fig. 1 shows the protective cover in bottom view (from the side adjacent to the display of the electronic device), fig. 2 is a plan view, fig. 3 is an application scenario on the display, fig. 4 shows an example of a possible shape of the protective layer, and more precisely an example of a possible shape of the carrier foil integrated with the other layers of the protective cover.
As shown in fig. 1, the carrier foil has thereon: a base protective layer and a layer protective glue which do not cover the element 2 with the hole 3 and the element 4 for gripping, fig. 2 shows the same embodiment seen from another plane. The steps of applying the base protective foil are presented in fig. 3: the hole 3 is pierced onto the USB plug, the USB plug is placed in the USB socket and the layer of protective glue is torn off, a press is made on the display to remove the air bubbles, then the USB plug is removed, and finally the carrier foil is torn off, leaving the basic protective foil adhered to the display. Fig. 4 shows a non-comprehensive embodiment of a protective cover corresponding to the shape of the display and to its holes for sensors, loudspeakers etc., which differs in the shape of the elements with holes and the elements for gripping located in the carrier foil.
Furthermore, reducing waste to the necessary minimum level is an advantage of this solution.

Claims (4)

1. A protective cover for a display of an electronic device, the protective cover being comprised of at least three layers: carrier foil, a basic protective layer, and a layer of protective glue on the protective layer, characterized in that the carrier foil (1) has an element (2) with a hole (3) allowing the carrier foil to be threaded on a USB plug, which element protrudes from the shape of the electronic device such that the hole (3) coincides with a USB socket and the foil perfectly covers the display after the plug is threaded and the plug is inserted into the USB socket of the electronic device, and the carrier foil (1) has an additional element (4) to be gripped, wherein the carrier foil (1) with the hole (3) is neither covered by the basic foil nor by the protective glue on the basic foil.
2. Protective cover according to claim 1, characterized in that the protective layer comprises elastic glass.
3. Protective cover according to claim 1, characterized in that the protective layer comprises a polymer foil.
4. Protective cover according to claim 1, characterized in that the protective layer comprises tempered glass.
