The fishing reel of claim 1, wherein the fishing reel includes a clutch, the clutch including a clutch lever, the clutch lever being configured to engage the spool with the drive mechanism when reeling a fishing line and disengage the spool from the drive mechanism when paying out the fishing line, the lever being in linkage with the clutch lever, and the spool being engaged with the drive mechanism with the lever in the first position and the spool being disengaged from the drive mechanism with the lever in the second position.

The fishing reel of claim 3, wherein said drive shaft has a large tooth affixed thereto, said spool has a small tooth disposed adjacent to said large tooth, a first end of said small tooth is engaged with said large tooth, a second end of said small tooth and an end of said spool engaged with said small tooth are each provided with a cross recess and a pin engaged with said cross recess, said drive shaft transmits power to said spool through said large tooth and said small tooth, said clutch is adapted to slidably engage said small tooth with said spool, and said small tooth is engaged with said large tooth.
