Detailed Description
In the following description specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. It will be apparent, however, to one skilled in the art that embodiments of the invention may be practiced without these specific details. In the present invention, specific numerical references such as "first element", "second device", and the like may be made. However, specific numerical references should not be construed as necessarily subject to their literal order, but rather construed as "first element" as opposed to "second element".
The specific details set forth herein are merely exemplary and may be varied while remaining within the spirit and scope of the invention. The term "coupled" is defined to mean either directly connected to a component or indirectly connected to the component via another component.
Preferred embodiments of methods, systems and devices suitable for implementing the present invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Although embodiments are described with respect to a single combination of elements, it is to be understood that the invention includes all possible combinations of the disclosed elements. Thus, if one embodiment includes elements A, B and C, while a second embodiment includes elements B and D, the invention should also be considered to include A, B, C or the other remaining combinations of D, even if not explicitly disclosed.
The first embodiment of the present invention provides a biometric matching-based payment method, which includes the following steps S10-S12-S14-S16, as shown in fig. 1.
Step S10, broadcasting the communication signal to the user terminal.
Specifically, the communication signal may be transmitted to a plurality of different user terminals through the merchant terminal, and the transmission signal may be broadcast, so that all the user terminals within a certain range of the signal transmitter of the merchant terminal may receive the broadcast signal. By way of example, the communication signal comprises an ultra-wideband (UWB) signal, corresponding to a wireless carrier communication technology using a frequency bandwidth of 1GHz or more. When a user carries a user terminal with a UWB module to enter the range of 50-100cm in front of a gate with a signal transmitter, the user terminal can receive the signal broadcast by the signal transmitter. It should be understood that the broadcast approach is only one implementation. The merchant terminal may also transmit the communication signal in a non-broadcast manner, such as direct contact or code-scanning.
And step S12, establishing a communication connection with the user terminal.
After the user terminal enters a designated area (i.e., a broadcast range), the merchant terminal may broadcast a communication signal to the user terminal to initiate a connection request. After the connection is established, the user terminal and the merchant terminal establish a secure data transmission channel. Subsequently, the user terminal may launch the relevant application by itself. Whether the user terminal responds to the communication signal may be set by the user at the user terminal. Here, the related application is a payment-related application that stores account information of the user. Through communication interaction with the merchant terminal, the application can receive the identification information of the merchant terminal and the transaction information, and then execute subsequent payment behaviors. By way of example, the application may be launched by the user terminal itself, or via user selection, which may be run in a background mode without being noticed by the user.
And step S14, acquiring a first biological characteristic of the user.
In this step, after the communication connection with the user terminal is established, the merchant terminal acquires a first biological feature of the user, such as a face picture, an iris feature and/or a human eye feature. The biometric feature is temporarily recorded in the merchant terminal in the form of an image or video.
Step S16, completing the payment operation associated with the transaction information based on determining that the first biometric characteristic and the second biometric characteristic conform to the matching expression. The second biological characteristic is biological characteristic data which is stored in the local end of the user terminal and can be selected to be updated or not updated periodically.
Specifically, this step may include two embodiments. The first implementation is to securely send the first biometric feature (e.g. face picture) to the user terminal along with the merchant terminal information, transaction-related information, etc. via a communication connection with the user terminal, while the matching between the first biometric feature and the second biometric feature is performed by the user terminal and the matching result is returned to the merchant terminal. It should be noted that the matching result returned by the user terminal may be a final matching result (representing whether the first biometric feature and the second biometric feature conform to the matching expression) or some intermediate matching result (i.e. further data processing is performed by the merchant terminal). Even so, the processing of the intermediate matching result does not require the reuse of the user's biometric. Therefore, after the face picture is provided to the user terminal, the merchant terminal may delete the first biometric feature so as to protect the user privacy data.
The second biological characteristics comprise a face picture, iris characteristics, eye characteristics and the like which are stored at the local end of the user terminal, and can be obtained by shooting and recording the user by an image acquisition device carried by the user terminal and can be updated regularly. In short, the first and second biometrics are provided by the merchant terminal and the user terminal, respectively.
The second implementation is to perform the matching process at the merchant terminal. As an example, the merchant terminal instructs the user terminal to submit the second biometric; after receiving the second biometric, the merchant terminal matches the first biometric with the second biometric. After matching, the first biometric and the second biometric are selected for deletion at the merchant terminal.
"matching" as referred to herein does not include identification of a user's biometric, but rather only performs a match between a first biometric and a second biometric, authorizing the transaction to proceed after the match is successful; after matching, the merchant terminal will delete the acquired biometric. In short, the merchant terminal does not always correspond the user's biometric feature to the user himself (or his identity information), but uses the user's biometric feature only once. In this way, the risk of unauthorized use of the user's biometric by the merchant terminal is significantly reduced.
According to this first embodiment, in the case where the first biometric and the second biometric conform to the matching expression, it is determined that the matching is successful, and the execution of the payment action may be allowed. Otherwise, the payment action is terminated. The matching expression may represent a degree of conformity of a result of a matching operation between the plurality of elements of the first biometric characteristic and the plurality of elements of the second biometric characteristic to the matching criterion.
Specifically, matching expressions may include: a similarity between a first element of the first biometric characteristic and a corresponding first element of the second biometric characteristic is greater than a first threshold; the similarity between a second element of the first biometric and a corresponding second element of the second biometric is greater than a second threshold and less than a third threshold. As an example, the first and second biological features are face pictures, the first element is a human eye feature, and the second element is a skin feature or an iris feature. The expression given above may indicate that comparing the face picture recorded by the merchant terminal with the face picture stored in the user terminal, the eye features are very similar, the skin features are similar, but the similarity is less than the similarity of the eye features. Here, the similarity may be expressed as at least one statistical value between pixel grayscales of different pixel sets, for example, a grayscale variance, a texture entropy, an image second moment.
According to a preferred embodiment, after establishing the communication connection between the user terminal and the merchant terminal, the merchant terminal may display all currently connected user terminals for the user to select at least one of them for subsequent biometric acquisition and matching operations; or after the communication connection between the user terminal and the merchant terminal is established, the merchant terminal may display the currently acquired biological features of the plurality of users, so that the user can select at least one of the users to perform a subsequent biological feature matching operation. This will help with payment security and protect user privacy from other users receiving the current user's biometric and vice versa.
It should be noted that although the first embodiment is shown in the form of a flowchart, the steps therein may be combined with each other, may be split into a plurality of sub-steps, or may be performed in a different order. For example, step S14 may be performed prior to step S12, or step S14 may be performed in parallel with step S12. For another example, the steps S10, S12 may be combined into one step.
The second embodiment of the present invention provides a payment apparatus based on biometric matching, as shown in fig. 2, the payment apparatus 20 includes a broadcasting unit 201, a connection establishing unit 203, a feature collecting unit 205, and a payment unit 207. The connection establishing unit 203 is configured to establish a communication connection with the user terminal 101. When the user terminal 101 approaches the payment apparatus 20, the connection establishing unit 203 and the user terminal 101 may establish a secure communication connection for subsequent data transmission. The data transmitted via the communication connection also includes the identification number of the payment device 20 and the transaction information. In response, the user terminal 101 may launch the relevant application itself in order to perform the subsequent payment action. Or, the payment-related application can be set to run in the background, and when a response is needed, the payment-related application is called to the foreground, and an operation interface is provided for the user to operate.
In addition, the payment apparatus 20 may further include an interaction unit (not shown in the drawings), which displays all the user terminals currently connected to the payment apparatus 20 and allows the user to select at least one of them for subsequent operations.

The payment unit 207 is configured to complete a payment operation associated with the transaction information based on determining that the first biometric characteristic matches a matching expression with a second biometric characteristic stored on the local side of the user terminal 101. Specifically, the matching operation may be performed at the user terminal 101, and the matching result may be returned to the payment device 20. The matching operation may also be performed at the payment device 20, in which case the payment device 20 will instruct the user terminal 101 to upload the stored second biometric of the user. The matching operation does not correspond the biometric features of the user to the user himself (or his identity information). In any case, preferably, the payment device 20 will delete the biometric of the user it obtained after the matching operation is completed.
Further, the payment unit 207 comprises a matching expression unit configured to determine a first similarity between a first element of the first biometric feature and a corresponding first element of the second biometric feature; and determining a second similarity between the second element of the first biometric and a corresponding second element of the second biometric.
Further, the payment unit comprises a statistical unit configured to calculate at least one statistical value between pixel grayscales of different pixel sets, such as a grayscale variance, an image second moment, and the like, and such statistical value is used to measure the similarity.
After the payment unit 207 (specifically, the matching expression unit) determines that the first biometric characteristic and the second biometric characteristic conform to the matching expression, the payment unit 207 continues to perform a subsequent payment action, and completes the transaction.
The present invention also provides a gate comprising the payment device 20 of the second embodiment described above. Such a gate may be provided at a public transportation setting entrance, a playground, a library entrance, etc., which can significantly improve payment efficiency, allowing a user to quickly enter the gate or pass through.
