Such a thermal transfer printer is classified into a sublimation type thermal transfer method in which a dye is sublimated and transferred and a fusion type thermal transfer method in which a dye is fused and transferred by a thermal recording head, according to a thermal transfer method of a dye.
Fig. 1 is a diagram showing an ink cartridge of a thermal transfer type printer according to the related art, the ink cartridge including: an upper case 10 for storing recording paper 13; a lower case 11 for storing ink sheets; a supply section case 20 for storing the ink sheet 12 before printing; a winding unit casing 21 for winding the printed ink sheet; the discharge port 30 discharges the recording paper sheet by sheet adjacent to the supply section case 20.
The ink sheet 12 is attached to a first winding bobbin 12a at a front end thereof by means of bonding or the like, and attached to a second winding bobbin 12b for winding at a front end thereof, the ink sheet 12 being wound around the first winding bobbin 12a, the first winding bobbin 12a being housed in the supply section case 20, and the second winding bobbin 12b being housed in the winding section case 21.
The recording paper 13 is accommodated in a recording paper case 22 of the upper case 10, and provided with a protective sheet 14 for preventing the recording paper 13 from being contaminated or damaged, a space 33 is formed between the ink sheet 12 and the recording paper 13 so that the thermal head unit can be arranged when the ink cartridge is mounted to the printer, and the upper case 10 is provided with an opening 34 in the middle of the supply portion case 20 and the take-up portion case 21.
However, such an ink cartridge according to the related art has a problem that it is difficult to reduce the entire thickness of the ink cartridge because an opening portion for removing the recording paper is formed at one side surface of the ink cartridge although a supply portion for supplying the recording paper and the ink sheet before printing and a winding portion for winding the printed ink sheet are formed at one ink cartridge.
Further, the ink cartridge according to the related art has a problem in that the ink case is separately configured from the recording paper case and is configured as one body using a special coupling structure, so that the manufacturing process is complicated and the manufacturing cost is increased.
