Abstract

The invention relates to mixtures of paraffin oil as active ingredient, suitable for agronomic and veterinary use. The mixtures according to the invention have a marked acaricidal and insecticidal action and show efficacy in controlling ectoparasites in poultry, the poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae.

Description

Insecticidal and acaricidal active substance mixtures containing paraffin oils
Technical Field
The invention relates to mixtures using paraffin oil as active ingredient, to which suitable ingredients for agricultural and veterinary use are added. The mixtures according to the invention have a pronounced acaricidal and insecticidal action and show efficacy in controlling the ectoparasites of poultry, the poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae.
Background
The acaricidal and insecticidal efficacy of paraffin oils is well known. Paraffin oil exerts its effect on insects and mites (including all their developmental stages) by physically preventing respiration. In order to actually use paraffin oil, it must be mixed with water while the emulsification process is performed. To date, this technique uses paraffin oil to control insect and mite pests in a stable emulsion.
The biological efficacy of the stabilized paraffin oil formulation on the adults of the directly exposed poultry red mite d.gallinae under laboratory conditions and at working concentrations of 3% is 50-60%, which is not sufficient for its reasonable control under the actual conditions of intensive poultry farming.
Disclosure of Invention
Technical problem
The technical problem solved by the present patent application is to find a new formulation to enable paraffin oil to fully exert its acaricidal and insecticidal action in practical applications to control harmful insects and mites.
The problem addressed by the present patent application is to improve the control of harmful insects, mites and mites, especially the red mite Dermanyssus gallinae, safely, rationally and effectively by preparing mixtures in which the active ingredient is paraffin oil. To date, it has not been reasonably effective to use paraffin oil as a key active in a stable emulsion to inhibit red mites in poultry. The reason is that the stable emulsion form greatly reduces the efficacy of paraffin oil against insects and mites (due to the reduced contact quality).
The problem of extensive and widespread chemical contamination has been a reality. This is why there is a need to drastically reduce the toxic effects of the control of harmful insects and mites, especially by using synthetic chemical insecticides.
There is a need for new formulations that are more effective, less toxic and environmentally safe.
Summary of The Invention
The invention relates to insecticidal and acaricidal mixtures comprising active compounds, silicone oils, emulsifiers (or combinations of emulsifiers), and optionally stabilizers and water. The mixture is in the form of a partially stable emulsion which is useful for controlling insect and acarid pests, and for controlling the red mite Dermanyssus gallinae of poultry. The partial stability of the emulsion allows for better contact of mites and insects with the mixture. The film formed on the non-absorbent surface during application ensures a better influence and a long-lasting effect of the mixture. According to the present invention, two types of mixtures have been produced and tested:
-a water-free mixture and
-mixtures with water
The mixture comprises the following components:
-paraffin oil
-silicone oils
-emulsifiers or combinations of emulsifiers
-a stabilizer, optional
-water, optionally
The active compound of the mixture is a paraffin oil, the content of which is 18% to 60%. For the silicone oil, polydimethylsiloxane having a viscosity of 10% to 35% was used.
The viscosity of the polydimethylsiloxane used is below 15000 cSt.
The mixture is produced with emulsifiers having an HLB value of less than 6 (in an amount between 2% and 30%) and with emulsifiers having an HLB value of greater than 14 (in an amount between 2% and 45%).
The emulsifiers are contained in the mixture alone or as a combination of several emulsifiers with different HLB values. The choice of emulsifier depends on the type of mixture or whether the mixture contains water.
Cellulose derivatives are used as stabilizers in amounts of 2% to 10%. A stabilizer is added to the mixture comprising water.
Optionally water is added in an amount of up to 40%.
The mixture according to the invention can be applied as such, but can also be diluted with water immediately before application to a concentration of 1% to 10% and then distributed on the surface to be treated.
The mixture according to the invention solves the technical problem defined above.
The distribution of the partially stabilized emulsion of liquid paraffin in combination with polydimethylsiloxane on the treated surface rapidly shows a very high acaricidal and insecticidal efficacy, especially against the poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae (see below). Furthermore, upon application, a film is formed on the treated non-absorbent surface, which allows for better coverage, better attachment and prolonged efficacy.
The emulsifier or combination of emulsifiers in the mixture according to the invention, whose HLB value is below 6 or above 14, ensures the partial stability of the diluted emulsion.
The partial stability makes the emulsion sufficiently stable to make application technically feasible.
The mixtures according to the invention, their constituents and as partially stable emulsions, satisfy the conditions of limited and targeted action on pests.
The compounds used can also be used as additives in the food and cosmetic industry, thus eliminating many negative toxic effects.

efficacy test-biological test
The following tests demonstrate the efficacy of the present invention in controlling certain insects and acarids, particularly the poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae. In addition to adults, respiratory depression is also associated with the developmental morphology of exposed insects and mites, which also leads to their death.
Description of biological tests and table designations:
and exposed for 1 minute. Simulating direct exposure of the mites upon application of the mixture. Under such conditions, the body of the mite will then be completely exposed. After this time, the mites were removed from the treated surface and placed on filter paper and placed in a clean Petri dish (Petri cups) until the end of the test.
The 1 hour exposure simulates the conditions under which mites were found not to be directly exposed during application (in actual conditions a large number of mites hidden). The excess working emulsion was placed in a petri dish, which was then drained and left to dry for 1 day. Thereafter, a sample of mites was placed therein. This time, they only contact the mixture of the invention with their distal portions. They remained exposed to the mixture for one hour and then were transferred to a clean petri dish until the end of the experiment. The procedure was the same except with a longer contact time of 24 hours of exposure. This is mainly used to compare the results with other tests.
The columns in the table contain the numbers 1 to 5. This represents the group of 20 adult mites tested. For a total of 100 samples. The daily results of mortality are shown as percentages under the sum term in the column. The control group is represented by 20 mite samples that were not exposed to the mixture. Environmental conditions include temperature and humidity, which are critical to the survival and control of red mites of poultry.
The rows contain numbers from 0 to 10. This represents the number of days the results were collected. The results for each group of mites are expressed as numbers and percentages.
Note that: there is currently no standardized method for the biological testing of formulations for acaricidal action against red mites of poultry. The petri dish method has been used and developed since 2000. Under natural conditions, laboratory methods were investigated simultaneously with their development. In this way, a laboratory method of biological testing has been developed which provides practically valuable and applicable results.

On the plastic surface, a 2% partially stabilized emulsion of paraffin oil (inventive mixture) showed a high efficiency of 98% after 30 days of each application, while a 5% partially stabilized emulsion of paraffin oil (inventive mixture) had 100% efficiency after the same period. This demonstrates that the present invention has an effective extended efficacy in addition to efficacy on direct exposure and high efficacy of subsequent direct exposure, another essential characteristic for controlling poultry red mite.
Working concentration of the test mixture: 5 percent of

A 5% partially stabilized emulsion of paraffin oil on zinc tin plating (inventive mixture) showed 88% efficacy. The test indicates that the quality or porosity of the surface has an effect on the residual efficacy level of the present invention. Since the efficacy of zinc tin plating is reduced compared to plastic surfaces, the concentration of the inventive mixture must be adapted to the exact application conditions.
Working concentration of the test mixture: 5 percent of

Figure GDA0002368824710000082
Repeated application of a 5% partially stable emulsion of paraffin oil (inventive mixture) on zinc tin plating showed 87% efficacy even after 25 days, thus demonstrating its potential in controlling red mites in poultry.
Intensive poultry rearing experiments under practical conditions
In three production facilities with a total capacity of 130,000 layers of edible eggs, a 2% partially stable emulsion of paraffin oil was applied in both cases. The red mite infestations the birds with +++/+++, and the facility has a rest time of up to 7 days. After three months of use of the layer of edible eggs, the invasion intensity was + as follows. The location in the cage below the feeder is the focus of red mite infestations of the birds during which no birds inhabit. On the edges where there is a cover, there are places where poultry red mites can be detected. The attack is mainly located in the inner sulcus of the feeder trough (cage form Big Dutchman GmbH), where liquid silicates with high absorption are also found.
In four production facilities with a total capacity of 50,000 layers, partially stable emulsions of paraffin oil (inventive mixture) were applied at concentrations of 2% and 5% at 14 day intervals during the period of use. The initial infestation of the red mites of poultry is +++/+++. The intensity of the insult was + 7 days after completion of the second application. In farms with increased mortality and reduced egg production, production technology has been normalized.
In practical terms, the present invention has demonstrated efficacy against direct exposure to poultry red mite d.
Tests under practical conditions have established limitations in terms of application. The presence of silicates (applied as liquids, diatomaceous earth) in cages, equipment and the environment reduces the efficacy of the process. The partially stabilized emulsion of paraffin oil (the mixture of the invention) is very permeable to the impurities present in the parts infested by the red mites of poultry, compared to the silicate. However, impurities reduce the possibility of forming a layer ensuring prolonged efficacy, and therefore, hygienic conditions are of great importance for the successful control of poultry red mites.
In the technical application of partially stable emulsions of paraffin oils (inventive mixtures), it is necessary to ensure continuous mixing or rapid application of the working emulsion with water.
In the technical administration of a partially stable emulsion of paraffin oil (inventive mixture), it is necessary to take into account the intensity and extent of the insult, the type of cage and equipment, the health and duration of use of the flock and to adjust the concentration, the dose of the working emulsion and the corresponding mode of administration, and to determine any other auxiliary measures.
The main purpose of the mixture according to the invention is to prepare a production plant for layered utilization, in which its efficacy in controlling the red mites of poultry is maximized. The length of the rest period of the facility and repeated application are helpful in efficacy.
The results of testing the inventive mixture demonstrated its efficacy in rational program control of the poultry red mite d.
Biological test of Trimerella foenum-graecum
The mixture has been applied directly to 100 adults of Heteropanar. Avoiding the influence of flooding and drowning caused by excessive preparation. The examination was performed after 6 hours and the 100% mortality of the pseudosita was determined. There was no mortality in the control group.
The mixtures of the invention do not alter the mode of action of the paraffinic oils, but only make the conditions of the existing insecticidal action more evident (part of the efficacy is lost by the production of stable emulsions). Since the method of action is not modified, it is expected that the innovative mixture will maintain the principle of use of paraffinic oils for a given range of applications, for insecticidal and acaricidal efficacy.
