An embodiment of the present invention provides a display panel, including:
a base substrate including a light emitting element;
the display device comprises a display area and a non-display area surrounding the display area, wherein the non-display area sequentially comprises a leveling area and a blocking area along the direction far away from the display area;
a thin film encapsulation layer including a first inorganic layer and a second inorganic layer, and an organic layer between the first inorganic layer and the second inorganic layer, the second inorganic layer being located on a side of the first inorganic layer away from the light-emitting element; wherein the content of the first and second substances,
the thin film encapsulation layer extends from the display area to the blocking area, the organic layer extends beyond the leveling area and then stops at the blocking area, the leveling area comprises an initial area and a termination area which are distributed along the direction far away from the display area, and the surface of the first inorganic layer has at least two steps descending along the direction close to the substrate from the initial area to the termination area in the direction perpendicular to the substrate.
In the display panel and the display device provided by the embodiments of the present invention, at least two steps descending along a direction close to the substrate are disposed from the start region to the end region of the surface of the first inorganic layer in the thin film encapsulation layer. That is, the first inorganic layer is designed to be stepped. In this way, since the thicknesses of the first inorganic layer, the organic layer and the second inorganic layer in the thin film encapsulation layer are all constant, when the leveling area space is constant, more space for accommodating the organic layer can be reserved by the descending steps, so that the cut-off area of the organic layer 200 is smaller, and a narrow frame of the display device is realized.
Fig. 1 is a top view of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 1, the display panel includes a display area 1 and a non-display area 2 surrounding the display area 1, the non-display area 2 includes a leveling area 21 and a blocking area 22 in sequence along a direction away from the display area 1, and the leveling area 21 includes a start area 211 and a stop area 212 respectively along the direction away from the display area 1.
Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view along the AA' direction of the display panel shown in fig. 1, and specifically, the display panel includes a substrate base 10, and the substrate base 10 includes a light emitting element. The substrate 10 may be a silicon-based substrate or a glass-based substrate. The display panel further comprises a thin film encapsulation layer 20, wherein the thin film encapsulation layer 20 comprises a first inorganic layer 201 and a second inorganic layer 202, and an organic layer 200 positioned between the first inorganic layer 201 and the second inorganic layer 202, and the second inorganic layer 202 is positioned on the side of the first inorganic layer 201 far away from the light-emitting element. Wherein the material of the organic layer 200 may be parylene, and the materials of the first inorganic layer 201 and the second inorganic layer 202 may be silicon nitride, silicon dioxide, and the like.
In the embodiment of the invention, the thin film encapsulation layer 20 extends from the display region 1 to the blocking region 22, the organic layer 200 extends through the leveling region 21 and then stops at the blocking region 22, and the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 has at least two steps descending from the start region 211 to the end region 212 in a direction approaching the substrate 10 in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 10. Fig. 2 is a schematic structural diagram of the display panel in which the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 has two steps descending from the start region 211 to the end region 212 in a direction close to the substrate 10. Due to the stepped design of the surface of the first inorganic layer 201, when the thicknesses of the first inorganic layer 201, the organic layer 200 and the second inorganic layer 202 in the thin film encapsulation layer 20 are constant, more spaces for accommodating the organic layer can be reserved through descending steps, so that the cut-off area of the organic layer 200 is smaller, and the purpose of narrow frame of the display screen is achieved.
In the embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 3, the display panel further includes:
a pixel defining layer 30, the pixel defining layer 30 including an opening region in which the light emitting element is disposed;
a flat layer 40, the light emitting element being disposed on the flat layer 40;
and a first insulating layer 50, wherein the first insulating layer 50 is positioned on one side of the flat layer 40 far away from the light-emitting element.
In a specific implementation, the first insulating layer 50 is specifically an insulating layer disposed on the second metal layer M2 for protecting the second metal layer M2 from corrosion. Of course, the first insulating layer 50 can be designed by those skilled in the art according to actual needs, and will not be described in detail herein.
In the embodiments of the present invention, the following stepped film layer structures may be used to form the display panel, but not limited to the following.
First step-like film layer structure
The first step-like film structure is specifically a step-like design of the surface of the pixel defining layer 30. Fig. 4 is a schematic structural diagram of one of the stair-step designs on the surface of the pixel defining layer 30. Specifically, the pixel defining layer 30 extends to the leveling region 21, and in the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10, the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 has at least two steps descending in the direction approaching the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212, and the first inorganic layer 201 covers the pixel defining layer 30. That is, the pixel defining layer 30 itself forms at least two steps descending in a direction approaching the substrate base plate 10 from the start area 211 to the end area 212. In a specific implementation process, the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 includes at least two steps descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212, and the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 includes at least two steps descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212, so that more space can be provided for accommodating the organic layer 200, and the cut-off region of the organic layer 200 is smaller, thereby achieving the purpose of narrow bezel. In addition, in the embodiment of the present invention, since the thickness of the pixel defining layer 30 in the leveling region 21 is 1 μm, and the extension length along the direction from the start region 211 to the end region 212 is longer than that of other film structures, the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 is designed to include at least two steps from the start region 211 to the end region 212, which are descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10, so that a narrow frame is realized, and simultaneously, the corresponding manufacturing process is simplified.
Second step-like film structure
The second stepped film structure is specifically a stepped design of the surface of the planar layer 40. Fig. 5 is a schematic diagram of one of the stepped designs of the surface of the planarization layer 40. Specifically, the flat layer 40 extends to the leveling region 21, and the surface of the flat layer 40 has at least two steps descending in a direction approaching the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212 in a direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10, and the first inorganic layer 201 covers the flat layer 40. That is, the planarization layer 40 itself forms at least two steps descending in a direction approaching the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212. In a specific implementation process, the surface of the planarization layer 40 includes at least two steps descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212, and the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 includes at least two steps descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212, which can provide more space to accommodate the organic layer 200, so that the cut-off area of the organic layer 200 is smaller, and the purpose of narrow frame is achieved. In addition, in the embodiment of the present invention, since the thickness of the planarization layer 40 in the planarization region 21 is 2.2 μm, and the extension length along the direction from the start region 211 to the end region 212 is longer than that of other film structures, the surface of the planarization layer 40 is designed to include at least two steps from the start region 211 to the end region 212, which are descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10, so that a narrow frame is realized and the corresponding manufacturing process is simplified.
Third step-like film structure
The third step-like film structure is specifically a step-like design of the surface of the first insulating layer 50. Fig. 6 is a schematic structural diagram of one of the step-like designs on the surface of the first insulating layer 50. Specifically, the first insulating layer 50 extends to the leveling region 21, and the surface of the first insulating layer 50 has at least two steps descending in a direction approaching the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212 in a direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10, and the first inorganic layer 201 is covered on the first insulating layer 50. That is, the first insulating layer 50 itself forms at least two steps descending in a direction approaching the substrate base plate 10 from the start region 211 to the end region 212. In a specific implementation process, the surface of the first insulating layer 50 includes at least two steps descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10 from the starting region 211 to the ending region 212, and the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 includes at least two steps descending along the direction of the substrate base plate 10 from the starting region 211 to the ending region 212, so that more space can be provided for accommodating the organic layer 200, and the cut-off region of the organic layer 200 is smaller, thereby achieving the purpose of narrow bezel.
Fourth step-like film structure
The fourth stepped film layer structure is specifically a stepped design of at least two of the surface of the first insulating layer 50, the surface of the planarization layer 40, and the surface of the pixel defining layer PDL. Fig. 7 is a schematic structural diagram of one of the structures of the first insulating layer 50, the surface of the planarization layer 40, and the surface of the pixel defining layer 30, which form a step-like design. In a specific implementation process, at least two of the surface of the first insulating layer 50, the surface of the planarization layer 40, and the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 form at least two steps descending from the start region 211 to the end region 212 in the direction approaching the substrate 10, and the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 includes at least two steps descending from the start region 211 to the end region 212 in the direction approaching the substrate 10, so that more space can be provided for accommodating the organic layer 200, and the cut-off region of the organic layer 200 is smaller, thereby achieving the purpose of narrow frame.
Fifth step-like film structure
The fifth stepped film structure is specifically that in the fourth stepped film structure, at least one of the surface of the first insulating layer 50, the surface of the planarization layer 40, and the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 has a step that is lowered in a direction approaching the substrate base plate 10. Fig. 8 is a schematic structural diagram of one of the 3 steps of the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 in fig. 7, which is descending in the direction approaching the substrate 10.
Of course, those skilled in the art may also adopt other stepped film structures besides the above five stepped film structures to form the display panel according to actual needs, for example, the stepped design is performed on the film structures such as the buffer layer, the anode layer, and the protection layer, so as to form the display panel correspondingly.
In the embodiment of the invention, the step difference between adjacent steps gradually decreases from the start region 211 to the end region 212, and still taking fig. 7 as an example, the step difference between the step on the surface of the first insulating layer 50 and the step on the surface of the planarization layer 40 is a value a, and the step difference between the step on the surface of the planarization layer 40 and the step on the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 is a value b, where a < b, so that as the thickness of the organic layer 200 decreases from the start region 211 to the end region 212, while more space is ensured to accommodate the organic layer 200, sufficient coverage of the organic layer 200 on the film structure with smaller step difference is achieved, and the encapsulation effect of the thin film encapsulation layer 20 is ensured.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the side surface of the step is an inclined surface intersecting with a direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 to form a predetermined angle, and the predetermined angle is greater than or equal to 0 ° and smaller than 90 °. Still taking fig. 4 as an example, the side of the step of the pixel defining layer 30 in the display panel intersects with a direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 at 0 °. As shown in fig. 9, the side surface of the step of the first inorganic layer 201 in the display panel intersects with the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 at an angle of 60 °. In the specific implementation process, the diversified design of the narrow frame of the display panel can be realized by adopting preset angles with different numerical values.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the slope of the side surface of the step gradually decreases from the initial region 211 to the final region 212. Also taking the display panel shown in fig. 9 as an example, the angles at which the side faces of the two steps of the surface of the first inorganic layer 201 in the direction close to the display region 1 intersect the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 are θ and 60 °, respectively, where θ>60 degrees. Taking the display panel shown in fig. 7 as an example, the side surface of the step on the surface of the first insulating layer 50 intersects with the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 at θ1The side surface of the step of the surface of the flat layer 40 intersects with the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 at θ2The side of the step of the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 intersects the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 10 at θ3. To improve the effect of the narrow bezel design, θ1>θ2>θ3. The slope of the side of the step of the surface of the first insulating layer 50 is k1, the slope of the side of the step of the surface of the planarization layer 40 is k2, and the slope of the side of the step of the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 is k 3. Wherein, k1<k2<k3. That is, the organic layer200, the thickness of the initial region 211 is larger, and the step design of the surface of the film layer structure is steeper. The organic layer 200 has a smaller thickness in the termination region 212 and the step design on the surface of the film structure is smoother. In this way, as the thickness of the organic layer 200 decreases from the start region 211 to the end region 212, while more space is ensured to accommodate the organic layer 200, the organic layer 200 can fully cover the film structure with smaller step difference, and the encapsulation effect of the thin film encapsulation layer 20 is ensured.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the length of the step gradually increases from the start region 211 to the end region 212. Still taking the display panel shown in fig. 7 as an example, the step length of the surface of the first insulating layer 50 along the direction from the start region 211 to the end region 212 is L1, the step length of the surface of the planarization layer 40 along the direction from the start region 211 to the end region 212 is L2, the step length of the surface of the pixel defining layer 30 along the direction from the start region 211 to the end region 212 is L3, and the step length of the surface of the first organic layer 200 along the direction from the start region 211 to the end region 212 is L4, wherein L1> L2> L3> L4. Thus, as the thickness of the organic layer 200 decreases from the start region 211 to the end region 212, more space is ensured to accommodate the organic layer 200, thereby achieving the purpose of a narrow frame.
Based on the same inventive concept, embodiments of the present invention also provide a display device including the display panel as described above.
In the embodiment of the invention, at least two steps descending along the direction close to the substrate base plate are arranged on the surface of the first inorganic layer in the thin film packaging layer from the starting region to the ending region.
While preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described, additional variations and modifications in those embodiments may occur to those skilled in the art once they learn of the basic inventive concepts. Therefore, it is intended that the appended claims be interpreted as including preferred embodiments and all such alterations and modifications as fall within the scope of the invention.
