Detailed Description
In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the present invention clearer, specific embodiments of a naked-eye 3D display device and a display method thereof according to embodiments of the present invention will be described in further detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present invention.
The shapes and sizes of the components in the drawings do not reflect the true scale of a naked eye 3D display device and are only intended to schematically illustrate the present invention.
The naked eye 3D display device provided by the embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 3, includes:
a display screen 10 for displaying a left-eye image 1 and a right-eye image 2;
a grating 20 having light-shielding regions and light-transmitting regions alternately arranged;
an eye tracking system 30 for determining the spatial position of the viewer's eyes relative to the display screen when facing the display screen;
and the grating regulating system 40 is connected with the grating 20 and is used for regulating the position of the grating 20 relative to the display screen 10 according to the spatial positions of the eyes determined by the eye tracking system 30.
The naked eye 3D display device provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises: a display screen for displaying a left-eye image and a right-eye image; the grating is provided with a shading area and a light transmitting area which are alternately arranged; a human eye tracking system for determining the spatial position of the two eyes of a viewer relative to the display screen when facing the display screen; and the grating regulating and controlling system is connected with the grating and is used for regulating the position of the grating relative to the display screen according to the space positions of the two eyes determined by the human eye tracking system. When the two eyes of the viewer move, the human eye tracking system can determine the spatial positions of the two eyes, and the grating regulation and control system can control the grating to move relative to the display screen according to the spatial positions of the two eyes, so that the two eyes of the viewer are always coincident with the two viewpoints, and 3D display is achieved. The problems of single viewpoint and small visual range of traditional grating 3D display are solved, and the adjustment of the viewing viewpoint is realized on the premise of ensuring that the 3D display resolution is not sacrificed, so that the stereoscopic viewing freedom degree is improved.
Specifically, the eye tracking system may employ an image capturing device, such as a CCD camera, to capture an environment image, and calculate the positions of the two eyes of the viewer through software, as shown in fig. 4, and the coordinates are represented as E1(x1, y1), E2(x2, y2), so that the pupillary distance Q between the two eyes can be calculated as the distance between E2 and E1; because the interpupillary distance Q of human eyes is about 65mm generally, and Q is related to the width Ws of the shading area and the width Ww of the light-transmitting area of the grating, if Ww and Ws are not easy to adjust, Q can be fixed to 65mm, at the moment, the human eye tracking system only needs to track the position of a single eye, although the mode is not as accurate as double-eye tracking, the calculation and regulation are relatively simple, and the watching requirement can be met.
Specifically, the information displayed by the adjacent pixels or sub-pixels of the display screen comes from different parallax images, namely, the left eye views the left eye image and the right eye views the right eye image. Therefore, the pixels or sub-pixels of the display screen are required to be controlled independently, and the display screens such as LCD, PDP, OLED, etc. and LCOS and DLP projectors can meet the condition. Further, the embodiment of the present invention is described by taking an LCD panel as an example.
Specifically, the display screen provided by the embodiment of the invention is a 2D display screen.
Further, in specific implementation, in the naked eye 3D display device provided in the embodiment of the present invention, the grating may be located on the light incident side of the display screen, or the grating may also be located on the light emergent side of the display screen. Specifically, as shown in fig. 4, the optical grating 20 provided by the embodiment of the present invention is located on the light emitting side of the display screen 10, that is, the optical grating 20 is located between the display screen 10 and the two eyes of the viewer. Of course, in specific implementation, the grating may also be located on the light incident side of the display screen, and the principle of implementing 3D display is the same for both, and the embodiment of the present invention only takes the example that the grating 20 is located on the light emergent side of the display screen 10 to explain the present invention.
Further, in a specific implementation, in the above naked-eye 3D display device provided in the embodiment of the present invention, the grating regulating and controlling system includes a mechanical moving device, and the mechanical moving device is configured to control the grating to move in a direction perpendicular to the display screen and in a direction parallel to the display screen. Specifically, when the eyes of the viewer move, the human eye tracking system determines the spatial positions of the eyes of the viewer, and the grating regulating and controlling system determines the positions of the gratings according to the spatial positions of the eyes, so that the gratings are controlled to move towards the direction perpendicular to the display screen and towards the direction parallel to the display screen through the mechanical moving device.
Further, in implementation, in the above naked-eye 3D display device provided by the embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 4, the light-shielding region width Wb and the light-transmitting region width Ww of the grating 20 may be fixed. Specifically, the grating 20 is a slit grating, and the grating 20 is composed of a transparent region and a light-shielding region alternately, wherein the transparent region is transparent and the light-shielding region is opaque. Generally, light-shielding strips (such as wood strips, metal strips, etc.) can be printed or photoetched on a transparent film or glass at intervals, and ink, film, etc. can also be printed on a transparent material object, so as to form the slit grating with a structure in which the light-transmitting areas and the light-shielding areas are arranged at intervals. However, the width Ww of the light-transmitting area and the width Wb of the light-shielding area of such a slit grating cannot be adjusted, and the interpupillary distance between both eyes of the viewer is Q, so the grating 20 in which the width Wb of the light-shielding area and the width Ww of the light-transmitting area are fixed is only suitable for a monocular tracking system in which the Q value is fixed.
Further, in practical implementation, in the above naked-eye 3D display device provided in the embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 4, the grating 20 may be a liquid crystal grating with adjustable light-shielding region width Wb and light-transmitting region width Ww. Specifically, a schematic cross-sectional structure of the liquid crystal grating is shown in fig. 5, and includes a lower polarizer 01, a first glass substrate 02, a first electrode 03, a liquid crystal molecule layer 04, a second electrode 05, a second glass substrate 06, and an upper polarizer 07, which are stacked, where the upper polarizer 07 is perpendicular to the lower polarizer 01. The liquid crystal grating can form a bright state and a dark state through the regulation and control action of an electric field, and the electric field can be adopted to well drive the switching of the two states, so that the liquid crystal grating is formed.
Specifically, as shown in fig. 6, two orthogonal upper polarizers 07 and lower polarizers 01 are attached to two sides of the liquid crystal cell, and the polarizers have a polarization axis with a fixed direction, and only light with a vibration direction consistent with the polarization axis can transmit through the polarizers. The light is decomposed into two components perpendicular and parallel to the polarizing axis in the vibration direction, the parallel component is transmitted, and the perpendicular component is absorbed by the polarizer. Because the polarizers on both sides of the liquid crystal cell are orthogonal to each other, the light beam can only completely pass through the liquid crystal grating when the liquid crystal molecular layer 04 rotates by exactly 90 degrees. Therefore, the bright state and the dark state of the liquid crystal box can be formed through the regulation and control of the electric field, and the switching of the two states can be realized, so that the slit grating which can regulate and control the light-transmitting area and the light-shielding area is formed.
It should be noted that, in a specific implementation, the grating provided in the embodiment of the present invention may also be an electrochromic device or other controllable color changing devices, and details are not described here.
Further, in specific implementation, in the above naked eye 3D display device provided in the embodiment of the present invention, the grating regulation and control system further includes a liquid crystal regulation and control system, and the liquid crystal regulation and control system is configured to adjust a width of a light-shielding region and a width of a light-transmitting region of the liquid crystal grating according to a spatial position of two eyes.
Specifically, for the grating with fixed width of the shading area and fixed width of the light transmission area, namely the common film or glass slit grating, a two-dimensional mechanical moving device can be adopted to realize the position movement of the grating in the direction perpendicular to the direction x of the display screen and the direction parallel to the direction y of the display screen, so that the position of the grating is adjusted to ensure that the view point is matched with the eyes of a viewer; for the liquid crystal grating, the position of the liquid crystal grating in the y direction, both Ww and Wb can be adjusted by adjusting the bright state and the dark state of the liquid crystal grating through a liquid crystal regulation system, and the position of the liquid crystal grating in the x direction still needs to be adjusted through a mechanical moving device. The mechanical moving device can only perform coarse line on the position of the grating according to the positions of the eyes of the viewer, so that in consideration of the problem of adjustment accuracy of the mechanical moving device, as shown in fig. 4, an optimal viewing distance L (the distance between the eyes and the display screen 10) can be specified, the viewer is guided to view at the position away from the screen L, and at the moment, the grating only needs to be adjusted in the y direction, that is, only one liquid crystal grating is needed, so that the accurate adjustment of Ww and Wb can be realized.
The following describes in detail a principle that the naked-eye 3D display device according to the embodiment of the present invention can adjust the position of the grating by determining the spatial positions of both eyes of a viewer.
In order to enable the two eyes of the viewer to view the corresponding parallax image, the parameters of the grating, the size of the pixels of the display screen and the viewing conditions must be correctly selected, and the structural parameters such as the widths of the light-transmitting area and the light-shielding area of the grating, the distance between the display screen and the grating, and the like need to be accurately designed. Specifically, as shown in fig. 4, the slit grating 20 is located between the display screen 10 and the viewer, and is referred to as a front slit grating; since the embodiment of the present invention is an example of a liquid crystal display, the slit grating 20 may also be located between a backlight of the liquid crystal display and the display 10, and is called as a post-slit grating. The principle is shown to be generally consistent, and the embodiment of the present invention is analyzed by taking a front slit as an example. For a given display screen 10, the number of parallax images (i.e., the number of viewpoints) is 2, the width of the sub-pixels (1 and 2) of the display screen is Wp, the inter-viewpoint distance between adjacent parallax images is the inter-pupil distance Q of human eyes, the distance between a human eye and a 2D display screen in the x direction is L, the distance between a left eye and the bottommost side of the display screen in the Y direction is Y, and the parameters of the grating 20 are as follows: the grating pitch (sum of the widths of the light-transmitting area and the light-shielding area) is Ws, wherein the widths of the light-transmitting area and the light-shielding area are Ww and Wb, respectively, the distance between the display screen 10 and the slit grating 20 in the x direction is D, and the distance between the light-transmitting area at the bottommost side of the slit grating 20 and the bottommost side of the display screen 10 in the Y direction is Y'.

in the formula (I), the compound is shown in the specification,

the following formulae (1) to (5) can be used:

Figure BDA0002179629470000086
the width Ww of the light-transmitting area and the width Wb of the light-shielding area of the slit grating 20 are related to the width Wp of the sub-pixel and the interpupillary distance Q, which are determined by the display 10, according to the equations (6) - (9), and the interpupillary distance Q of different viewers may be slightly different, usually about 65 mm. The pupil distance is considered to be 65mm, and the position of a single eye is tracked; the positions of both eyes can be tracked to calculate the size of the interpupillary distance Q, and then the width Ww of the light-transmitting area and the width Wb of the light-shielding area of the slit grating 20 are calculated, so that the binocular tracking can provide a better viewing effect for each viewer, but it also brings more difficulty to adjust and control the width Ww of the light-transmitting area and the width Wb of the light-shielding area of the slit grating 20.
The distance D of the display screen 10 from the slit grating 20 in the x-direction is related to the width Wp of the sub-pixels, the interpupillary distance Q and the distance L of the human eyes from the display screen 10 in the x-direction. For the same observer, if the person moves x distance towards the display screen 10, the grating 20 should move xW towards the display screen 10p/(Q+Wp) The distance of (c).
The distance Y' between the bottommost light-transmitting region of the slit grating 20 and the bottommost side of the display screen in the Y direction is related to the subpixel width Wp, the interpupillary distance Q and the position Y of the human eye in the Y direction. For the same observer, if the human eye moves a distance of y in the y-direction, the grating 20 should move (y + Q) W in the y-directionp/(Q+WP) The distance of (c).
Therefore, when the human eye moves, the pupil distance Q, the position Y of the human eye in the Y direction, and the distance L between the human eye and the display screen 10 in the x direction are determined by the human eye tracking system, and the parameters related to the grating 20 can be calculated according to the above equations (6) to (9) according to the sub-pixel width Wp: the width Ww of the light-transmitting area, the width Wb of the light-shielding area, the distance D between the display screen 10 and the slit grating 20 in the x direction, and the distance Y' between the light-transmitting area at the bottommost side of the slit grating 20 and the bottommost side of the display screen in the Y direction, so that the gratings are adjusted, the two eyes of a viewer are always coincident with two viewpoints, and 3D display is realized. The problems of single viewpoint and small visual range of traditional grating 3D display are solved, and the adjustment of the viewing viewpoint is realized on the premise of ensuring that the 3D display resolution is not sacrificed, so that the stereoscopic viewing freedom degree is improved.
In specific implementation, the human eye tracking system of the invention can adopt single-eye tracking or double-eye tracking, the slit grating can adopt a macroscopic baffle or a liquid crystal grating, grating regulation and control systems corresponding to different gratings are different, the realized functions are also different, and table 1 is a summary of specific implementation schemes.

Figure BDA0002179629470000101
Four main embodiments are given in table 1, and binocular tracking can provide viewpoints adapted to different interpupillary distances of human eyes relative to monocular tracking; the liquid crystal grating can realize the width and y-direction position adjustment of the light transmitting area and the light shading area of the grating without using an additional mechanical moving device relative to the common grating with fixed width of the light transmitting area and the light shading area; the mechanical moving device can only move the coarse grating up, down, left and right, and is difficult to finely regulate and control, and the alignment between the slit grating and the sub-pixels is difficult. Thus the fourth of the four protocols of table 1 above is the easiest to implement and the most elaborate regulation; the third scheme realizes the highest degree of freedom of stereoscopic display.
