Description

Brightness adjusting method and device under panel energy-saving mode
Technical Field
The invention relates to the technical field of display, in particular to a brightness adjusting method and device under a panel energy-saving mode.
Background
The continuous development and progress of display technologies such as Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panels, active matrix type organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) panels, etc. bring increasingly abundant display products, and the AMOLED panels are drawing attention as emerging technologies; people pay more and more attention to the environmental protection problem and put forward more rigorous energy consumption requirements on the AMOLED panel; in order to reduce energy consumption, an economic energy saving (ECO) mode is used as a necessary function of the AMOLED panel in the industry, and the ECO mode can not only save energy consumption, but also relieve the aging problem of the AMOLED panel and prolong the service life of the display.
Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating a method for adjusting panel brightness when a conventional panel enters an energy-saving mode. The panel is preset with an energy-saving algorithm module to realize the energy-saving mode of the panel, and the working process of the energy-saving algorithm module mainly comprises the following steps: stage one, circularly calculating an average pixel brightness (APL) value under a current frame (frame), comparing the average pixel brightness value of the previous frame, and if the average pixel brightness value is not changed within the ECO _ time1 time, determining that the panel playing content is in a static state at the moment and no dynamic video playing is performed; when the average pixel brightness value is not changed within the ECO _ time1 time, the method enters a second stage, brightness adjustment is started at a certain brightness reduction speed, during the second stage, if the average pixel brightness value is changed, the method returns to the first stage, if the average pixel brightness value is not changed within the ECO _ time2 time, the method enters a third stage, if the average pixel brightness value is not changed within the ECO _ time3 time, the method enters a fourth stage, and at this time, the average pixel brightness value is not changed, and the existing brightness is maintained unchanged.
In fig. 1, ECO _ time1, ECO _ time2, ECO _ time3 are time points preset by the energy saving algorithm module, and the corresponding luminance decreases from Lum to Lum _ target1 and then to Lum _ target. The Count _ time represents the current time, i.e., the time since entering the power saving algorithm, to the present time.
The ECO _ RATIO1 and ECO _ RATIO2 are preset values of the energy-saving algorithm module, and represent the RATIO of the brightness of the previous time period to the brightness of the next time period after the energy-saving algorithm is started.
The energy saving algorithm module may calculate slopes of the energy saving curve in different phases, such as a phase two energy saving curve slope K1 and a phase three energy saving curve slope K2:
K1=(LUM-LUM*ECO_RATIO1)/(ECO_time2-ECO_time1);
K2=(Lum_target1-Lum_target1*ECO_RATIO2)/(ECO_time3-ECO_time2)。
the energy-saving algorithm module may calculate the luminance Lum _ count at the current time count _ time according to the current time count _ time, for example:
If(0<count_time<ECO_time1)
Lum_count=LUM;
If(ECO_time1<=count_time<ECO_time2)
Lum_count=K1*(count_time-ECO_time1)+LUM;
If(ECO_time2<=count_time<ECO_time3)
Lum_count=K2*(count_time-ECO_time2)+LUM_target1;
If(ECO_time3<=count_time)
Lum_count=Lum_target。
when the current time count _ time is in stage two/stage three, the luminance Lum _ count is associated with an adjustment coefficient K1/K2 for adjusting the luminance.
Based on the display principle of the panel driving system, one way to control the display brightness of the panel is to adjust the size of the input data (brightness information) so as to adjust the brightness.
As shown in fig. 2, it is a schematic diagram of a brightness adjusting device in an energy-saving mode of an existing panel, and mainly includes an energy-saving algorithm module and a Gamma circuit (Gamma IC), which displays a change process of brightness through the energy-saving algorithm module before and after the brightness, and after brightness information of an image enters the energy-saving algorithm module for processing, the adjusted brightness information is output, and after adjustment through the Gamma circuit, the Gamma circuit generates a data signal voltage to drive the panel to display an image.
The brightness adjusting method under the existing panel energy-saving mode has the following problems: as shown in the table one below, according to the energy saving algorithm, after the energy saving algorithm module adjusts the luminance input data by using the coefficient K1/K2, the gray area data is 1, and when the coefficient K1/K2 is equal to 0.1, the luminance output data after the luminance input data is 5-14 converted is all 1, that is, a large part of gray scales cannot be displayed, so that the gray scale data is lost, and the image distortion is serious. When the value of the coefficient K1/K2 increases, the lost gray level value is improved, and in view of the effect of energy-saving picture display, the panel manufacturer usually sets the coefficient K1/K2 to be above 0.5, but still some data is lost, so that the picture is displayed as the non-original picture effect.
TABLE I Brightness input data and Brightness output data adjusted with an adjustment factor K1/K2
Figure GDA0002474477570000031
When the brightness adjustment method in the existing panel energy-saving mode is used, when the brightness of the panel is adjusted after the panel enters the energy-saving mode, the image data is adjusted in a certain proportion, and a part of the data is lost, so that the image is displayed as a non-original image effect, and therefore improvement is needed.
