Description

Slide rail assembly with change over switch
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a slide rail assembly, and more particularly, to a slide rail assembly having a switch, which has functions of opening by pressing and closing by itself, and provides a user with the ability to enable or disable the function of opening by pressing of the slide rail assembly according to a usage environment or condition.
Background
U.S. patent No. 8,172,345B2 issued to Liang et al, and incorporated herein by reference, discloses a slide rail assembly having both push-to-open and self-closing functions.
If a slide rail assembly has a push-open function, and a drawer is installed to a cabinet body through the slide rail assembly, when the drawer is folded into the cabinet body, an obvious pressing gap is formed between the front panel of the drawer and the cabinet body, and the pressing gap allows a user to move relative to the cabinet body through pressing the drawer, so that the drawer can be opened relative to the cabinet body through a push-open pop-up mechanism arranged on the slide rail assembly. Because the pressing open type drawer does not need to additionally arrange a handle on the front panel of the drawer, the smoothness of the front panel of the drawer can be kept, and the pressing open type drawer has the characteristics of simplicity and attractive appearance. On the other hand, the self-closing slide rail assembly generally means that when the drawer is pushed into the cabinet body to be folded to an end stroke after the drawer is opened from the cabinet body, the drawer can be folded relative to the cabinet body through the self-closing mechanism provided in the slide rail assembly.
Although the sliding rail assembly with the functions of opening by pressing and self-closing can provide the drawer with the aforementioned functions when the drawer is installed on the cabinet, the sliding rail assembly with the function of opening by pressing can cause an obvious pressing gap between the drawer and the cabinet, which causes dust, bugs or other foreign matters to easily enter the drawer. Moreover, the slide rail with the function of opening by pressing is not suitable for being installed on a drawer with locking requirement.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 and 2 show a furniture assembly 20 according to an embodiment of the present invention including a first furniture member 22 and a second furniture member 24. In this embodiment, the first furniture member 22 is a cabinet and the second furniture member 24 is a drawer, but the embodiment is not limited thereto. Preferably, displacement of the second furniture member 24 relative to the first furniture member 22 is facilitated by a pair of slide assemblies 26.
Specifically, each slide assembly 26 includes a first rail 28 and a second rail 30 that are displaceable relative to the first rail 28. Preferably, the slide assembly 26 further includes a third rail 32 movably disposed between the first rail 28 and the second rail 30 for extending the displacement stroke of the second rail 30 relative to the first rail 28. Wherein the first rail 28 is mounted to the first furniture member 22 so as to be visible as part of the first furniture member 22; on the other hand, the second rail 30 is mounted to and carries the second furniture member 24 and may be considered part of the second furniture member 24. Preferably, the first rail 28 includes an extension 34 and the second rail 30 includes a bearing 36.
As shown in fig. 3, the second rail 30 can be located at a retracted position R relative to the first rail 28. In the retracted position R, the position of the supporting portion 36 of the second rail 30 substantially corresponds to the extending portion 34 of the first rail 28.
Referring to fig. 4, the present embodiment includes a manual switch 38, wherein the switch 38 is operatively connected to one of the first rail 28 and the second rail 30 of the slide assembly 26. In this embodiment, the switch 38 is operatively connected to the second rail 30 as an example. Preferably, a base 40 is attached to the second rail 30, and the supporting portion 36 of the second rail 30 includes an opening 42 for the base 40 to pass through. Wherein the base 40 can be fixed to the second rail 30 by riveting, screwing, clipping, welding or other similar means. Thus, the base 40 can be considered as a part of the second rail 30; alternatively, the base 40 can be directly integrated with the second rail 30, and the implementation is not limited.
The switch 38 can be movably mounted, such as pivotally attached to a base 40 of the second rail 30; alternatively, the switch 38 is removably mounted to the base 40 of the second rail 30, without limitation. In another aspect, the first rail 28 includes an abutment feature 44, the abutment feature 44 may be a component mounted to the first rail 28; alternatively, the abutment feature 44 is molded directly to the first rail 28. Here, the abutting feature 44 is exemplified by a wall portion located at the extending portion 34.
As shown in fig. 5 and 6, the switch 38 is operably disposed in a first state S1 or a second state S2 relative to the second rail 30.
As shown in fig. 7 and 8, when the second furniture member 24 is in the pressing-opening configuration relative to the first furniture member 22 and in the retracted position R, a distance D is formed between the second furniture member 24 and the first furniture member 22, and the distance D is a pressing gap through which a user can move relative to the first furniture member 22 by pressing the second furniture member 24, so that the second furniture member 24 can be opened relative to the first furniture member 22.
As shown in fig. 9, the slide rail assembly 26 includes a first driving device 46 and a second driving device 48. The first driving device 46 is disposed on the second rail 30, and the first driving device 46 includes a first elastic member 50 and a locking mechanism 52. The first elastic element 50 provides a first elastic force F1, and the locking mechanism 52 can be operated in one of a locked state and an unlocked state. When the locking mechanism 52 is in the locked state, the first elastic member 50 stores the first elastic force F1. When the locking mechanism 52 is in the unlocked state, the first elastic member 50 releases the first elastic force F1. Specifically, when the second furniture member 24 is in the retracted position R relative to the first furniture member 22 and the distance D is maintained between the second furniture member 24 and the first furniture member 22, the locking mechanism 52 is in the locked state.
The second drive device 46 is also disposed on the second rail 30, and the second drive device 48 includes a second resilient member 54, a securing feature 56, a guide mechanism 58, and a catch mechanism 60. The second elastic element 50 provides a second elastic force F2, and the direction of the second elastic force F2 is opposite to the direction of the first elastic force F1. The securing feature 56 is fixedly disposed on the first rail 28, and the securing feature 56 is, for example, a securing pin, as shown in fig. 4. The guide mechanism 58 includes a first path 62a and a second path 62b that are angularly offset relative to the first path 62 a. When the capture mechanism 60 is positioned in the first path 62a of the guide mechanism 58, the fixation feature 56 is captured by the capture mechanism 60. When the catch mechanism 60 is positioned in the second path 62b of the guide mechanism 58, the catch mechanism 60 disengages from the securing feature 56, as shown in fig. 11. Specifically, when the second furniture member 24 is in the retracted position R relative to the first furniture member 22 and the distance D is maintained between the second furniture member 24 and the first furniture member 22, the catching mechanism 60 is located in the first path 62a of the guiding mechanism 58 and the fixing feature 56 is caught by the catching mechanism 60, and at this time, the second elastic force F2 of the second elastic member 54 is temporarily stored with an initial force.
Preferably, when the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) is in the retracted position R relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28) and the switch 38 is in the first state S1, a predetermined distance G is formed between the switch 38 and the abutting feature 44 of the first rail 28, wherein the predetermined distance G is substantially equal to the distance D. At this time, the first drive device 46 is in an enabled state.
As shown in fig. 10 and 11, when a user applies a pressing force F to the second furniture element 24 (or the second rail 30) in a first direction D1, the locking mechanism 52 of the first driving device 46 is operated to switch from the aforementioned locking state to the unlocking state, and when the pressing force is released, the first elastic element 50 of the first driving device 46 releases the first elastic force F1, so that the second furniture element 24 is opened relative to the first furniture element 22 by the elastic force of the first elastic force F1 and is displaced in a second direction D2, and the second furniture element 24 forms an extending distance L relative to the first furniture element 22, which is a so-called press-open function. The second direction D2 is opposite to the first direction D1, and the first elastic force F1 of the first driving device 46 is opposite to the first direction D1.
During the pressing process, the catching mechanism 60 of the second driving device 48 is displaced from the first path 62a to the second path 62b of the guiding mechanism 58, and when the catching mechanism 60 is located in the second path 62b of the guiding mechanism 58, the catching mechanism 60 is disengaged from the fixing feature 56, and at this time, the second elastic force F2 of the second elastic member 54 accumulates a force.
As shown in fig. 12 and 13, when the user further moves the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) from an open position to a predetermined position P along the first direction D1 (i.e. the folding direction) relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28), the catching mechanism 60 of the second driving device 48 catches the fixing feature 56 disposed on the first rail 28, and the second elastic force F2 of the second elastic member 54 releases the force to drive the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28), which is the so-called self-closing function. The direction of the second elastic force F2 of the second driving device 48 is the same as the first direction D1.
As shown in fig. 14 and 15, when the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) is in a retracted position relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28) and the switch 38 is in the second state S2, the switch 38 abuts against or approaches the abutting feature 44 of the first rail 28, so that the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) cannot be opened relative to the first furniture member 22 (the first rail 28) by pressing the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28). That is, when the switch 38 is operated to shift to the second state S2, the first driving device 46 is in the disabled state, but the second driving device 48 still maintains the enabled state, so that the self-closing function of the slide assembly is still maintained.
In this state, the user can still open the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28) along the second direction D2, and when the user pushes the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28) to fold along the first direction D1, the catching mechanism 60 of the second driving device 48 can catch the fixing feature 56 of the first rail 28, and the second driving device 48 is used to drive the second furniture member 24 (or the second rail 30) to fold relative to the first furniture member 22 (or the first rail 28).
As can be seen from the above description, the present invention provides a push-open function that can be timely disabled by a user according to a usage environment or condition, and still maintain the self-closing function of the slide assembly.
Although the present invention has been described with reference to the present specific embodiments, it will be recognized by those skilled in the art that the above embodiments are illustrative only, and various equivalent changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention, and therefore, it is intended to cover in the appended claims all such changes and modifications as fall within the true spirit of the invention.
