Abstract

An assemblable drawer (1) for furniture, comprising a pair of side walls (2, 3), a rear wall (4), a bottom (5) and a front panel (6); the side walls (2, 3) and the rear wall (4) are provided with end openings (7) adapted to allow coupling of the coupling means (10, 11), which coupling means are in turn adapted to be locked within the end openings (7) by means of engagement means (25, 26, 27, 28) which are movable for force or shape coupling of the movable engagement means into the end openings (7, 7) of the side walls (2, 3) and the end openings of the rear wall (4).

Sectional drawer for furniture and method for assembling the drawer
Technical Field
The invention relates to an assembly drawer for furniture and a method for the assembly thereof.
Background
As is known, in the furniture industry, modular drawers of this type are available: including contoured back and side walls made of metal material and bottom and front panels made of wood or other material.
In order to connect the side walls to the front panel and the rear wall of the drawer, use is generally made of front connectors and corner connectors, respectively, which have means for coupling which can be inserted into corresponding end openings of the rear wall and the side walls, so as to enable a simple and quick assembly of the components constituting the drawer.
The connection between the connector and the wall of the drawer can be achieved by a simple forced coupling of the components. However, this type of forced coupling or engagement may not be sufficient to keep the drawer stably assembled, especially in the case of high stresses generated when the drawer is full.
What happens in essence is the possible decoupling of the several elements that make up the drawer.
To overcome the above problems, the connectors may be provided with tabs or other resilient retaining means which can engage by snap action mating openings provided on the sides of the side and rear walls of the drawer.
However, the above-mentioned solutions, although effective from the point of view of keeping the drawer in the assembled condition, require a plurality of machining operations on the side and rear walls of the drawer in order to define the lateral openings. Moreover, the presence of such lateral openings is aesthetically unpleasant.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is to devise an assemblable drawer with rear and side walls made of metal material, but without lateral openings, thereby eliminating the need to carry out additional machining operations on those walls, so as not to further negatively affect the overall aesthetic appearance of the drawer, while ensuring stable assembly of the drawer even in the event of high stresses.
Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to devise a modular drawer for furniture that can be assembled in a simple and quick manner.
Another object of the present invention is to devise a modular drawer for furniture that is highly reliable, easy and practically implementable and low cost.
This aim and these and other objects, which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by an assemblable drawer for furniture comprising a pair of side walls, a rear wall, a bottom and a front panel, said side walls and said rear wall being provided with end openings adapted to allow coupling means to be coupled, which coupling means are in turn adapted to be locked within said end openings by engagement means which are movable for forced or shape coupling (forced or shape coupling) of such movable engagement means in such end openings of such side walls and such rear wall.

Detailed Description
With reference to the figures, a drawer according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a pair of side walls 2 and 3, a rear wall 4, a bottom 5 and a front wall 6.
Conveniently, the side wall is a profiled wall made of metal material having a hollow cross-section defining an end opening or cavity; the possibility is not excluded, however, that the wall may alternatively be made of other materials, for example plastic materials, wood, etc.
End openings are provided in the side walls 2, 3 and the rear wall 4.
In the figures, the end opening of the side wall is indicated by reference numeral 7, while the end opening of the rear wall is indicated by reference numeral 8.
The side walls 2, 3 and the rear wall 4 have lateral surfaces extending according to respective longitudinal axes and, according to the invention, these surfaces are free of openings and/or are not machined; in particular, there are no openings or projections having their axis extending at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the wall itself.
In order to mutually couple the side walls with the rear wall 4 and with the front wall 6, coupling means are provided, consisting of a corner element 10, provided at the coupling between the side walls 2 and 3 and the rear wall 4, and a front connector 11, provided for coupling the side walls 2 and 3 with the front wall 6.
The front connector 11 is engaged by a front coupling means 12 arranged integral with the wall of the front panel 6.
Conveniently, the side walls 2 and 3 have a recess 15 adapted to allow coupling of the bottom 5 of the drawer.
Preferably, when the walls 2, 3 and 4 are very high, the rear corner connector 10 is coupled to a corner element 16 which is inserted into the end cavity 8 of the rear wall 4 and into the end cavity 18 of the side walls 2 and 3.
Instead, the corner connectors 10 are inserted into the end openings 7 of the side walls 2 and 3 on one side and into the central recess 20 of the rear wall 4 of the drawer according to the invention.
For locking the coupling means (i.e. the corner element 10 and the front element 11), the drawer according to the invention has a movable engagement means with a control element, for example in the form of a slotted head for a screwdriver.
The movable engagement means with the control element preferably comprise an eccentric engagement element 25 which is rotatably movable and, for the components of the front connector 11 and of the corner connector 10 to be inserted in the opening 7 of the side wall 2, 3, is in the form of a screw means 25', for example a triangular screw, which, moreover, when it is tightened, generates a pulling force for a more secure coupling of the components; the head 26 is adapted to rotate in a suitable seat defined in the corner connector 10, in this case indicated by 27, and in a suitable seat defined in the front connector 11, in this case indicated by 28, and is conveniently shaped, for example, with a radial projection or beak 26' to define a travel limit stop for the rotation of the engagement means.
The head 26 is adapted to rotate in such seats 27 and 28 and, by virtue of their profile, the screw means 25' engage the internal profile of the end opening 7 with respect to the corner connector 10 and the front connector 11.
For the parts of the corner connector 10 to be engaged with the rear wall 4, the movable engagement means 25 preferably comprise an eccentric engagement surface 30, with or without threads, which can engage the upper surface 20' of the central recess 20 of the rear wall 4; in this case, the head 26 is also conveniently shaped, for example with a radial projection or beak 26' to define a travel limit stop for the rotation of the engagement means.
These coupling means 12 of the front panel 6, for example in the form of elements that can be pre-mounted on the front panel 6, are adapted to allow them to be coupled in the front connector 11 once they have been coupled to the side walls 2 and 3.
Preferably, for retention in the longitudinal direction, the coupling element 12 has a lateral groove 12 'extending vertically to engage with an internal projection 11' of the front connector 11 by means of a sliding movement from the top downwards as shown in fig. 8 and 9; furthermore, the coupling element 12 has on the rear side resilient retainer teeth 12 "which can engage with the transverse ribs 11" in the front connector 11 in order to hold the component securely and allow its decoupling only in case a preset and significant upward stress is applied to the front panel 6.
In essence, the assemblable drawer according to the invention is assembled as follows: first, the operator arranges the side walls 2, 3, the rear panel or wall 4 and the front panel 6 of the drawer together with the bottom 5 of the drawer. At this point, the operator couples the coupling means in the form of the rear corner connector 10 and the front connector 11 in the side walls 2, 3 by fastening the coupling means in these walls with the movable engagement means 25' and 30.
The movable engagement means cause engagement in the end openings of the side walls 2, 3 and engagement in the central recess 20 of the rear wall 4 by means of a forced and/or form coupling.
Subsequently, the operator applies the bottom panel 5 to the sidewall by inserting the floor into the groove 15, and finally he/she applies the front panel 6 by coupling the front coupling device 12 into the front connector 11.
In fact, it has been found that the drawer according to the invention fully achieves the set aims and objects in that it enables assembly in a simple and quick manner, and does not require lateral openings in the side walls of the drawer, but instead makes use of end openings that are substantially invisible to the user.
The assemblable drawer thus conceived is therefore susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims. Moreover, all the details may be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials used, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
The disclosure of italian patent application No. MI2015a000617 (102015902347515), which is claimed as priority for the present application, is incorporated herein by reference.
Where technical features mentioned in any claim are provided with reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.

Claims (7)

1. An assemblable drawer (1) for furniture, comprising a pair of side walls (2, 3), a rear wall (4), a bottom (5) and a front panel (6), wherein said side walls (2, 3) and said rear wall (4) are provided with an end opening (7) adapted to allow coupling means (10, 11) to be coupled, which in turn are adapted to be locked within said end opening (7) by engagement means movable for force or shape coupling said movable engagement means in said end opening (7) of said side walls (2, 3) and said end opening of said rear wall (4), wherein said side walls (2, 3) and said rear wall (4) are provided with side surfaces extending according to respective longitudinal extension axes of said side walls and said rear wall, wherein said side surfaces of said side walls (2, 3) and said side surfaces of said rear wall (4) are free of openings and/or are free of machining Machining and wherein the movable engagement means comprises a control element by which the engagement means can be moved,
wherein the coupling device (10, 11) comprises: a pair of rear corner connectors (10) for coupling between the side walls (2, 3) and the rear wall (4); and a pair of front connectors (11) for coupling the front panel (6) to the side walls (2, 3),
wherein the movable engagement means for the rear corner connector and the front connector comprise screw means engageable in the side walls (2, 3) and/or the rear wall (4).
2. The assemblable drawer according to claim 1, characterized in that the rear corner connector (10) is provided with a seat (29) for housing the movable engagement means.
3. The assemblable drawer according to claim 1, characterized in that the front connector (11) is provided with a seat (28) for housing the movable engagement means.
4. The assemblable drawer according to claim 1, characterized in that the movable engagement means comprise at least one eccentric engagement element for force or shape coupling the movable engagement means in the end opening of the rear wall and the end opening (7) of the side wall.
5. The assemblable drawer according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises additional connection means (16) adapted to allow the coupling of the side walls (2, 3) with the rear wall (4) of the assemblable drawer.
6. The assemblable drawer according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises first front coupling means (12) fixable to the front panel (6) and cooperable with the front connector (11).
7. A method for assembling an assemblable drawer according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising the steps of:
-coupling means (10, 11) in end openings (7) of a pair of side walls (2, 3), a rear wall (4), a bottom (5) and a front panel (6) of the modular drawer, for coupling the side walls (2, 3) and the rear wall (4) of the modular drawer, wherein the side walls (2, 3) and the rear wall (4) are provided with side surfaces extending according to respective longitudinal extension axes thereof, wherein the side surfaces of the side walls (2, 3) and the side surfaces of the rear wall (4) are free of openings and/or are not machined;
-locking in position said coupling means by movable engagement means adapted to allow a forced or shaped coupling between said coupling means (10, 11) and said end openings (7) of said side walls (2, 3) and said rear wall (4), wherein said movable engagement means comprise a control element by which said engagement means can be moved;
-applying the bottom (5) to the side walls (2, 3);
-fixing the front panel (6) to the coupling means (10, 11) arranged at the end of the side walls (2, 3) adapted to face the front panel (6).
