Description

Method and system for inducing craving for addictive drugs in virtual reality environment
Technical Field
The invention belongs to the technical field of craving induction of patients with substance use disorder, and particularly relates to a method and a system for inducing craving of addictive drugs in a virtual reality environment, which provide a technical approach with higher ecological effectiveness for clinical intervention treatment of addicted patients.
Background
Substance use disorder (substance use disorders, SUD) is clinically defined as a chronic recurrent brain disease, manifested by increased intake, uncontrolled compulsive foraging and medication behavior, tolerance to medications, reduced appearance of negative emotions after use, and severe withdrawal symptoms, and is strongly desired. The use of psychoactive substances such as nicotine, alcohol, ***e and methamphetamine, results in pathological changes in the structure and function of the brain, which are the root cause of SUD production. The control of SUD is a global public health problem that is to be addressed. The root cause of the addict's relapse is not physiological dependence, but rather is a persistent psychological dependence. The long-term existence of pathological addictive memory is a key to psychological dependence development. Repeated use of addictive drugs results in adaptive changes in the nervous system, thereby affecting the formation, consolidation, maintenance and extraction of positive rewarding memory and negative emotion memory, producing long-term pathological addiction-related memory, and enabling addicts to stimulate psychological craving and re-inhalation behavior of the drug when contacting the drug and related environmental cues. Therefore, in SUD therapy, the use of behavioral therapy techniques such as cue exposure in combination with other methods such as drug therapy can effectively reduce the response of an individual to an addictive-related cue, cue Exposure Therapy (CET) is based on the classical conditional reflex principle of pavlov, which results in a strong emotional and motivational responsiveness to CS due to repeated matching of the multi-environmental cue (conditioned stimulus, CS) to the reward effect (unconditioned stimulus, US) of the drug during substance use.
Studies have shown that CET can alleviate symptoms in SUD patients. While capable of reducing re-absorption behavior, conventional CETs also have some limitations (1) they do not provide comprehensive complex cues (e.g., social scenes and interactions, emotional experiences, physical cues, etc.); (2) Traditional CETs have limitations in mimicking an individual's real life experience, thus limiting the ecological effectiveness of the treatment (ecological validity). The ecological efficiency refers to the similarity degree of experimental variables and real situations in the research process, the degree of popularization of research results to real living environments is applied, and the ecological efficiency is an important index for measuring whether the research has practical value. Traditional CET therapies generally mimic only a portion of the real environment during treatment, have relatively limited efficacy, and are prone to relapse.

Therefore, in order to solve the problem that the traditional two-dimensional and three-dimensional clue exposure method cannot provide comprehensive complex clues, limit the evaluation problem of the craving response of the craving for relapse caused by the factors of the social living environment and improve the measurement reliability and effectiveness, the invention provides a method and a system for inducing craving for addictive drugs in the virtual reality environment.

The method of clue-induced craving response is to induce the conditional reflex effect of drug-related clues in addicted patients (implicit memory) using VR clue features. The clue stimulation features are extracted by structuring interviews to obtain the declarative (explicit memory) medication experience of addicts. The addictive memory characteristic database comprises the content of the external memory and the internal memory of the dependence relationship between the addicted patient and the drug administration. The external memory mainly reflects the psychological, behavioral, physiological phenomena and processes of drug addiction of a subject which can be observed and actively realized, and the internal memory reveals the inherent correlation (including physiological, psychological and behavioral reactions) between two or more external memory phenomena and behaviors.
S2, examining the relevant life memories of the addiction of the target sample group, and extracting multidimensional clue stimulation characteristic materials with common memories corresponding to the tested target sample addiction group from an established addiction memory characteristic database.
The systematic method for extracting the common memory characteristics of the patients with substance addiction comprises the following steps:
first, the essential difference between the addicted target group and the general person (non-substance addiction) is the core feature of the 'person-drug dependence'.
Then, on the basis of defining the common characteristics, a systematic structuring method is designed to extract six-dimensional specific characteristic contents of the common addictive memory contents, namely: the course of administration, social relationships, environmental factors, mood factors, physical factors, cognitive factors.

What are everything used to before and after administration? Identifying video data or picture material, etc.
(2) Social relationship — and who is inhaling? Where to obtain drugs? "isit usual and who is it taken together? Is one taking a drug? Is two people taking medicine? Is the medication of multiple people? Is toxic friend? Is a poison vendor? What is social stress or other stress related to drug use?
(3) Environmental factors-where is sucking? What time is there sucked? ", time of administration? Sites? Is other food and drink accompanied by a drug? Sites (bars, hotels, bedrooms, toilets, bathrooms, streets, dances, recreational places, in cars, worn buildings); medicine and medicine-related appliance.
(4) Mood factor-sensation before and after drug absorption? "? Is an active or passive emotional state? Excitement, execution, hallucination, sadness, anger, anxiety, frustration, depression, boredom.
(5) Cognition factors-thought before and after drug absorption? "including the idea often before the use of icetoxin? What is the idea changed before and after the medication process? Is there a hallucination after administration?
(6) Physical factors-what is most preferred to do when taking the drug? How does the physical sensation? As a substance, a specific physical state or sense of aura is used.
The layered multidimensional addictive memory feature database of the studied target group is abstracted by the six-dimensional field interview, observation and sufficient sample size investigation statistical questionnaire method. In the manufacturing link of VR material, according to the memory characteristic database of addiction as the design demand, finish the standardized stimulating clue material which embodies the commonality characteristic.
And S3, converting the multidimensional clue stimulation characteristic materials with the common memory into a virtual reality environment with a psychological model and a cognitive map, and simulating a medication scene and a scene clue of the addict.

The mental model is composed of dynamic system drawings and expectations for system operation (e.g., correctness, integrity), as well as special event memory (using repetitive combinations of drawings and scripts and mental models).
The drawings and scripts herein are information stored in long-term memory, knowledge organized in terms of a central concept or topic (the drawings are generally composed of objects, backgrounds, people; the scripts are descriptions of the drawings). The cognitive map is a psychological representation of information representing objects and scene space, such as a city, a room, for example, the layout of addicts' medication sites, for representing the long-term memory of a visual space template associated with the working memory process. And the addiction memory characteristic database information is further abstracted and converted into psychological characterization forms of virtual reality scene experience, namely a psychological model and a cognitive map, and finally, the final matching of the integration of the tested perception experience in the test site is completed.
In terms of virtual cue combination feature classification, on the basis of near-end object, background object and complex object classification in the current field, independent branches of person objects are additionally added, and two-stage classification content is refined, as shown in fig. 2. The invention uses the element classification of VR substance addiction clue characteristics in figure 2 as a basic clue making attribute unit, and the extracted common memory characteristic materials can be flexibly combined into multidimensional clues approaching to the living environment of addicts under the guidance of the element classification in figure 2, so as to meet the application requirements of different experimental designs and clinical application interventions.
