With the rapid development of communication technology, people can receive rich media information mixed by pictures and texts besides traditional text information when communicating through terminal equipment such as mobile phones. The rich media information includes both text and pictures or videos, and the text is superimposed on the pictures or videos (hereinafter, pictures are taken as examples), so that more contents can be carried at one time. For example, when receiving and sending a holiday blessing multimedia message, the sender can select a picture as a greeting card and write blessing characters on the greeting card, and the receiver can see the greeting card after receiving the blessing text. In the related art, when displaying rich media information, the font size of the text is increased if the text is to be highlighted, and the font size of the text is decreased if the picture is to be highlighted.

Detailed Description
Reference will now be made in detail to the exemplary embodiments, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. When the following description refers to the accompanying drawings, like numbers in different drawings represent the same or similar elements unless otherwise indicated. The embodiments described in the following exemplary embodiments do not represent all embodiments consistent with the present invention. Fig. 1 is a flow chart illustrating an information display method according to an example embodiment. The method can be used for terminal equipment such as mobile phones and tablet computers.

when a preset gesture is detected, hiding the characters, and displaying pictures contained in the rich media information or playing videos contained in the rich media information;
the background picture is used for providing background for characters in the rich media information.
