技术领域
本发明一般涉及数字网络,特别涉及一种在数字网络中用于多个闭合字幕流和用户接入的方法及设备。
背景技术
数字广播***中的闭合字幕(Closed captioning CC)信息通常作为数据信息传递。但是,对于CC信息何时需要在屏幕上显示或结合到视频有时间限制。原则上,这类似于使用各种时间戳机制等使音频轨道与视频轨道保持同步。在广播***中,所有频道的CC信息由转发器或频道承载后调整至与音频相近似。在诸如数字用户线(DSL)网络的数字网络中,不存在将CC信息以近似音频的方式处理的机制。
因此,在数字网络中需要一种更先进的方法和设备来处理CC信息。
发明内容
本发明克服了现有技术的上述及其它缺陷,提供了一种在数字网络中用于 多个闭合字幕流和用户接入的方法及设备。
根据本发明的一个方面,提供了一种连接数字网络的用户端设备(customerpremise equipment CPE)装置。该CPE装置包括用户输入装置,用于接收指定所寻找的闭合字幕(CC)信息的一个或多个频道的用户输入。该CPE装置还包含解码器,用于接收用户输入指定的一个或多个频道的CC信息。
根据本发明的另一个方面,提供了一种数字用户线接入多路复用器(Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer,DSLAM),用于连接数字用户线(DSL)网络。该DSLAM包括选择多路复用器,用于接收多个媒体内容的多个闭合字幕(CC)信号,并且响应于从CPE装置接收到的用户输入,选择该多个CC信号中的至少一个分别发送至所连接的多个CPE装置中的每一个。
根据本发明的又一个方面,还提供了一种用于接收连接至数字网络的CPE装置中的闭合字幕(CC)信息的方法。该方法包括将用户输入从CPE装置传送到数字网络中的另一装置的步骤;该用户输入指定所寻找的闭合字幕(CC)信息的一个或多个频道。该方法还包含接收由用户输入指定的一个或多个频道的CC信息的步骤。

具体实施方式
本发明涉及一种用于数字网络中多个闭合字幕流和用户接入的方法及设备。
有利地,本发明提供了,例如在DSL***中,在DSLAM之前以及应主频道和PIP频道的要求进行切换之前被保留为单独的流的闭合字幕(CC),包括多语种的CC。同样,闭合字幕信息可随同视频数据发送至CPE,并根据所需显示的CC信息在CPE中被挑选。基于服务提供商的要求,主频道和PIP频道的音频信号能以各种方式处理,较当前模拟***中所可能的具有更大的灵活性。例如,PIP频道的闭合字幕可以作为一个特征显示于主频道。
因而,本发明提供了一种将CC信息呈现于CPE的流机制。每一频道的CC信息在到DSLAM(或者在网络中指示将广播频道转换至特定用户的上行点)之前都保留为分开的流。在DSLAM(或者适当的转换点),CC传输流可选择显示于普通频道或PIP频道。推而广之,同样可以打开叠加在正在观看的主频道的属于任意频道的任何CC信息。例如,根据本发明于此所提供的教导,本发明可能的诸多应用中的一个典型应用是,若用户正观看一场足球赛,但又想获取别的频道播放的另一篮球赛的信息。根据本发明的原理,篮球赛的CC被要求叠加在当前正在观看的足球赛的频道。当然,根据本发明的原理,还可以在主频道上观看PIP频道的CC信息。
应该理解的是,虽然本发明在此主要描述有关数字网络的特定例子,即数字用户线(DSL)网络,根据本发明在此提供的教导,本领域一般技术人员能够容易地将本发明运用至任何运行的数字网络中,而且这些运用也保留在本发明的 范围中。

图中显示的各元件的功能可以通过使用专门的硬件以及能够配合适当软件运行该软件的硬件来提供。由处理器提供所述功能时,该功能可由单个专用处理器、单个共享处理器、或者由多个单独的处理器(其中一些可是共享的)来提供。而且,术语“处理器”或“控制器”的准确的用途,不能解释为仅仅涉及运行软件的硬件,还可能暗示地,非限定地包括,数字信号处理器(DSP)硬件、存储软件的只读存储器(ROM)、随机存取存储器(RAM)和非易失性存储器。

该DSL网络100包括超级头端单元110,内容发送中心120,视频服务器或视频服务中心和DSLAM(下文的“视频中心”)130和DSL回路140,以及用户端设备(CPE)150。
该超级头端单元110包括音频/视频编码器112,闭合字幕发生器114和多路复用器(此处缩写为“MUX”)116。音频/视频编码器112的输出端与多路复用器116的第一输入端以信号通信方式相连接;闭合字幕发生器114的输出端与多路复用器116的第二输入端以信号通信方式相连接;多路复用器116的第一输出端与内容发送中心120的第一输入端以信号通信方式相连接;多路复用器116的第二输出端与内容发送中心120的第二输入端以信号通信方式相连接。
视频中心130包括选择多路复用器132。该选择多路复用器132的第一输入端(用于音频/视频流)与内容发送中心120的第一输出端以信号通信方式相连接,其第二输入端(用于多个应用层FEC流)与内容发送中心120的第二输出端以信号通信方式相连接。该选择多路复用器132的第三输入端与DSL回路140 的输出端以信号通信方式相连接。该选择多路复用器132的第四输入端与本地CC信息发生器188的输出端以信号通信方式相连接。
视频中心130的输出端,对应于多个DSL端线(drop)中的一个,与用户端设备150中的具有闭合字幕(CC)叠加能力的视频解码器154以信号通信方式相连接。该用户端设备还包含用户接口 152,其具有与DSL回路140的输入端以信号通信方式相连接的输出端。
图1还显示了随同音频、视频及其它数据信息的单独的流一起的闭合字幕信息的单独的流。在DSLAM130中,基于用户端设备(CPE)的请求,适当的CC信息被转至选择多路复用器132,与将要被转到用户端设备中不同发送点的适当的音频、视频和数据流组合。
有利的是,利用本发明可提供诸如任何普通频道(可能是多语言)的闭合字幕信息。而且,利用本发明可使PIP频道的闭合字幕信息转换到普通频道流中,并在CPE150中进行组合以显示于普通频道。此外,可利用本发明在DSLAM130中本地***任何紧急的闭合字幕信息(可以在DSLAM130中产生并***本地CC信息)。
转至图2,一种用于在用户端设备(CPE)装置中解码闭合字幕信息的方法用附图标记200表示。该CPE装置200用于连接数字用户线(DSL)网络。
起始框202传递控制至功能框210,功能框210接收用于指定所寻找的闭合字幕(CC)信息的一个或多个频道的用户输入,然后传递控制至功能框220。该一个或多个指定频道可包括任何普通频道,甚至包括当前显示频道以外的频道。

功能框315接收和/或产生(包括应要求产生)一个或者多个媒体内容的一个或者多个闭合字幕(CC)信号,并传递控制到功能框320。

功能框330将CC信息与视频数据进行组合,然后将组合的信息分别传送至每个CPE装置,并传递控制至结束框392。
基于此处的教导,本发明上述及其它特征与优点,可以为本领域一般技术人员很容易地确知。可以理解,本发明的教导可以用硬件、软件、固件、专用处理器或者其结合的不同形式来实施。

Claims (7)

1.一种连接数字用户线(DSL)网络的数字用户线接入多路复用器(DSLAM),该DSLAM包括:
选择多路复用器,接收多个与相关的媒体内容分离的多个闭合字幕(CC)信号,响应于从用户端设备(CPE)接收到的用户输入而选择多个CC信号中的至少一个CC信号发送至与其连接的至少一个CPE装置,以及将所选择的至少一个CC信号与当前显示的主频道的媒体内容组合,
其中,所述用户输入用于启动所述多个闭合字幕信号中所选择的至少一个CC信号在与所选择的CC信号不相关的当前显示的主频道上的显示。
2.根据权利要求1所述的DSLAM,还包括CC信息发生器,用于产生多个频道的CC信息。
3.一种在连接数字网络的用户端设备(CPE)装置中接收闭合字幕(CC)信息的方法,该方法包括步骤:
将用户输入从CPE发送至数字网络中的接收与相关的媒体内容分离的闭合字幕(CC)信息的另一装置,指定一个或者多个频道,其中,对于所述一个或者多个频道选择所述闭合字幕信息,以便与所述媒体内容组合以显示于当前显示的频道上,以及
接收由所述用户输入指定的一个或者多个频道的CC信息,
其中,所述闭合字幕信息用于除所述当前显示的频道之外的频道,以使所述闭合字幕信息叠加在所述当前显示的频道上。
4.根据权利要求3所述的方法,还包括将CC信息与普通频道信息和PIP频道信息中的任何一个组合起来显示的步骤。
5.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中该CC信息响应于CPE发送的信号被接收。
6.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中该CC信息以多种语言被解码。
7.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中该数字网络为数字用户线(DSL)网络。
