技术领域
本发明涉及一种视听显示设备和方法,特别涉及一种相对较小的手持式移动视听显示设备。
背景技术
由于移动设备日益受到欢迎以及为了提高一般的操作效率,在诸如视听显示设备之类的电子装置中,功率要求和功率消耗数字变得越来越重要。
当前已知的视听显示设备的缺点在于,它们会在可能不适当或者可能不完全可用的服务方面花费功率,这例如是由于设备自身的限制以及所接收的信号质量的限制,或者也与在任何特定时刻所剩余的电池能级有关。
发明内容
本发明试图提供一种视听显示设备和相关操作方法,其比已知的设备和方法更有优势。
根据本发明的第一方面,提供一种视听显示设备,其用于接收包括视频单元和音频单元的广播信号,其中,该音频单元包括提供对至少一些视频内容的描述的音频描述单元,该设备包括响应于与该设备相关联的操作特性的恶化而用于禁用设备的视频显示装置的装置、以及用于切换以输出所述音频描述单元以替代视频单元的装置。
所述设备的优势在于能够以响应于特定操作特性的方式来禁用视频输出。
于是,当需要的时候本发明可以降低所述设备内的功率消耗,同时借助于音频描述单元为用户提供适当的输出。
有利地,所述设备包括用于监控所述操作特性的装置。
所述用于监控的装置可以被有利地设置成监控所述设备内的电池水平,以便在电池水平下降到阈值时从视频输出切换到输出音频描述单元,从而节省该设备内的功率。
替换地或者附加地,所述用于监控所述特性的装置可以被设置成监控所述设备内的可用数据处理能力。因此可以监控当前的存储器容量,以便允许处理音频描述单元而不是视频内容,当所述设备只有有限的存储器容量而又想要继续所需的操作时,这样做是有利的。
此外,所述用于监控所述操作特性的装置可以被设置成监控在所述设备处接收的广播信号的质量,以便当检测到所接收信号的不适当的较差质量时切换到输出音频描述单元。
有利地,所述用于监控所述特性的装置可以被设置成监控视频单元的画面质量。
应当理解,本发明特别有利于用作移动视听显示设备,如果需要的话其可以包括移动电视设备和/或移动无线电通信装置(比如用于接收包括视频单元的广播的蜂窝电话)。
所述设备特别可以有利地用在数字广播***中,所述音频描述单元可以有利地在与所述音频单元分开的音频信道内传输并且被从中提取。如上所述,本发明的一个优选方面允许禁用视频输出,从而可以有利地允许关闭所述设备的视频显示装置。在来自该设备的视频输出被设置成包括音频描述单元以替代视频输出的周期内,上述做法可以大大降低该设备内的功率消耗。
根据本发明的另一方面,提供了一种接收和显示包括视频单元和音频单元的广播信号的方法,其中,该音频单元包括提供对至少一些视频内容的描述的音频描述单元,该方法包括响应于与所述设备相关联的操作特性的恶化而禁用显示视频单元的方法的步骤以及切换以输出所述音频描述单元以替代视频单元的步骤。
本发明的方法可以包括用于提供如上所述的视听显示设备的其他有利特征的步骤。
因此应当理解,本发明的概念允许在适当使能的蜂窝电话上或者在不应当或者不能使用该装置的显示屏的情况下消费广播TV内容。这种用途可能需要由于可用电池功率或者由于诸如所接收的信号质量或处理能力等方面所造成的限制。因此,即使遇到这种可能不利的特性,移动装置的用户仍然能够从该装置获得足够的输出,以便理解视频内容的基本方面。
在本发明的另一方面,取代响应于操作特性的恶化来启动音频描述单元,可以监控操作方式以便例如识别所述设备的移动。如果检测到移动或者检测到高于阈值速度的移动,则可以启动音频描述单元。在用户不适合观看所述设备的情况下(比如走路时,跑步时或者驾车时),上述做法特别有利于自动切换到音频描述输出。

具体实施方式
下面参照附图仅以举例的方式进一步描述本发明,其中附图以示意框图的形式描述了根据本发明一个实施例的视听设备的实施例。
现在参考附图,其中说明了一个视听显示设备,该设备在该特定实施例中包括蜂窝电话10,该蜂窝电话被配置成接收并显示广播电视信号。
因此,蜂窝电话10包括显示屏12和具有适当数据处理能力的相关驱动电路(未示出),以便允许显示视频内容,该蜂窝电话还包括小扬声器14,其用来提供来自该蜂窝电话10的音频输出。
通过来自输入线16的视频信号来驱动显示屏12,并且通过来自输入线18的音频信号来驱动扬声器14。
蜂窝电话10包括天线20,借助于该天线接收广播信号,随后以标准方式将该广播信号传送到解码和处理块22、24,在所示实例中,所述解码和处理块通过数据线26相连接。
如图所示,驱动屏幕12和扬声器14并且通过线路16、18传送的信号是在处理器24的控制下被传送的。
由于蜂窝电话10的移动性质,以电池28的形式提供了机载电源,其被设置成通过相应的电源线30、32满足解码器22和处理器24的功率需求。
电池28还被设置成为显示屏12提供功率,但是根据本发明的所示实施例,这种供电是通过处理器24经由线路34进行的。
因此,处理器24包括切换功能,其允许切断经由线路34的供电并且还防止经由线路16传送驱动所述显示屏的信号,从而可以禁用显示屏12。
本发明的该特定实施例用于接收数字TV信号,该信号还包括在该广播信号的特定信道内的音频描述单元。
音频描述是一种在数字广播领域中采用的技术,其特别用作对视觉受损的用户的帮助。这种音频描述广播包括与视频内容相关联的附加的音频信道。音频描述包括对实际视频内容的音频描述,当视频序列的特定场景内的动作/运动无法仅通过该视频序列内出现的对话段落来辨别时,所述音频描述就用于描述这样的动作/运动。
因此,在这种广播中,提供了附加的音频信道,可以访问该附加音频信道以便在与视频序列相关地出现的对话之外提供附加的音频输出,其清楚地描述该视频的可能无法为视觉受损的人所理解的各方面。
在本发明的所示实施例中,有利地采用这种附加音频描述单元,以便特别提高蜂窝电话10的效率。
在处理器24内,提供了用于确定蜂窝电话10的(或者与之相关联的)特定操作特性的恶化的装置。
举例来说,所述操作特性可以包括在天线20处接收到的信号的视频单元的质量,或者可以在屏幕12上显示的视频内容的实际质量。于是,如果所接收信号的可用视频单元的质量不足以提供适当的质量输出,则屏幕12可以被禁用以利于音频描述以及节省功率。
所述特性还可以包括与对广播数据的内部处理相关的各方面,所述各方面例如可以包括蜂窝电话10内的存储器容量的暂时减小,于是,如果可用存储器的减小可能对视频输出的处理造成不利影响,则可以引入音频描述,其对存储器的要求较低。
举例来说,当正把广播存储在本地高速缓冲存储器中以用于随后观看并且该高速缓冲存储器的容量太低以致无法支持完全视频存储时,可以提供到音频描述的自动切换。
如果在处理器24内确定了任何所述恶化,则处理器24被设置成进行切换以便通过扬声器14提供音频描述,并且处理器24还被设置成禁用显示屏12,以便不向其传送视频数据并且还有效地对该屏幕12断电。这种措施有利地用于降低蜂窝电话10内的功率消耗,但是通过启用音频描述单元的输出,仍然为蜂窝电话10的用户提供音频输出,以便对禁用视频输出进行补偿。
因此,可以增强用户享受并理解特定视听广播的能力,只是至少暂时无法访问视频内容。
所示实施例采用了音频描述广播,其在数字视频广播(DVB)***中包括伴随所接收信号的视频单元和相应的音频单元的对视频场景的音频描述。

Claims (15)

1.一种视听显示设备,其被设置成接收包括视频单元和音频单元的广播信号,其中,该音频单元包括提供对至少一些视频内容的描述的音频描述单元,
其特征在于:
该设备包括:响应于与该设备相关联的操作特性的恶化而用于禁用设备的视频显示装置的装置、以及用于切换以输出所述音频描述单元以替代视频单元的装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的设备,其包括用于监控所述操作特性的装置。
3.如权利要求2所述的设备,其中,所述用于监控的装置被设置成监控该设备内的电池水平。
4.如权利要求2所述的设备,其中,所述用于监控所述特性的装置被设置成监控该设备内的广播数据的内部处理能力。
5.如权利要求4所述的设备,其中,所述用于监控的装置被设置成监控存储器容量。
6.如权利要求2所述的设备,其中,所述用于监控所述操作特性的装置被设置成监控在该设备处接收到的广播信号的质量。
7.如权利要求6所述的设备,其中,所述用于监控所述特性的装置被设置成监控所述视频单元的画面质量。
8.如权利要求1—7中任一项所述的设备,其包括移动无线电通信装置。
9.一种接收和显示包括视频单元和音频单元的广播信号的方法,其中,该音频单元包括提供对至少一些视频内容的描述的音频描述单元,
其特征在于:
该方法包括响应于与所述设备相关联的操作特性的恶化而禁用显示视频单元的方法的步骤以及切换以输出所述音频描述单元以替代视频单元的步骤。

11.如权利要求10所述的方法,其包括监控所述设备内的电池水平的步骤。
