In addition, the EM is connected to a battery via a converter and a charging unit, so that the EM can be operated by charging the battery or the battery can be charged by the mechanical power on the EM, whereby the drive shaft would either be driven or braked. An EM controller connected to the converter can regulate the converter in order to provide a required drive or braking force on the drive shaft. The invention also relates to a method for operating such a hybrid drive system.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
As in the vehicle industry, the drive with an additional electric motor, in particular with a hybrid drive, is also known for helicopters.
A similar system as described above is known from US 2017/0225573 A1. It comprises an internal combustion engine and an electric motor which is arranged between the internal combustion engine and the gearbox of the main rotor. The same is the case with US 2018/0354635 A1. This also describes a method that uses various computer systems to regulate the division between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor.
Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention
It is the object of the present invention to describe a device with which the safest possible operation of the helicopter can be guaranteed. Another object of the invention is to provide a method according to which safe operation can be carried out.
The objects are achieved by the features of the independent patent claims. Further advantageous designs are given in the respective subclaims.
According to the invention at least one torque sensor and a tachometer are arranged on the drive shaft in a hybrid drive system mentioned above, so that the VM control and the EM control can receive data from at least one torque sensor and one tachometer during operation. In addition, a direct connection is preferably set up between the pilot control, the VM control and the EM control. This is only needed to start and shut down the VM. An indirect connection always exists via the flight position of the helicopter, in particular via the behavior of the drive shaft, as a result of which the power requirement is aligned in normal operation.
The EM control is set up in such a way that it can additionally drive or brake the drive shaft by means of EM, whereby the VM control can automatically adapt the power on the VM to the new resulting power requirement on the drive shaft, and it does so during operation .
It is important that the VM control with the VM is autarkic at any time in a position to achieve the required speed on the drive shaft in order to keep a stable flight position predetermined by the pilot control. This means that every helicopter with its VM can be upgraded with an EM and an EM control without having to intervene in the existing system of the VM control. As a result, in the event of a system failure, if the EM or EM control fails, the helicopter can normally only be flown with the VM.
In the hybrid system according to the invention, the optimal speed for the rotor system must also be maintained, the required power output at which the VM reaches the highest efficiency, stored and can be called up for the EM control. In addition, a first directive is stored which, in normal flight, specifies the EM control to exert a drive or braking force on the drive shaft that reaches the known, optimal speed on the drive shaft. This ensures that the VM's optimal engine performance is always achieved.
The EM is preferably arranged between the VM and the transmission of the main rotor. This leads to a higher speed and thus to a higher torque on the drive shaft.
The method for operating such a hybrid drive system is characterized in that that control commands from a pilot with information about the required flight attitude from the pilot control generate a performance request, which is received by the EM control and the VM control, that speed and torque measurement data are continuously transmitted to both the EM control and the VM control, that the EM control immediately detects all changes in the performance requirements in the flight phase and regulates the EM by changing the drive or braking force on the drive shaft, that the VM control based on these control commands and the changed speed on the drive shaft provides the remaining, required drive force on the drive shaft by means of VM delayed in order to ensure the required flight attitude, that the EM control regulates the power applied by the EM in accordance with its first directive in such a way that the VM is operated with the power at which it has the highest degree of efficiency when it applies the additional load required to ensure the required flight attitude, whereby either the battery is charged by the mechanical power on the EM or the E is operated by means of the charge in the battery, and that when the directive from the EM control is suspended, the VM control automatically provides the required drive force on the drive shaft by means of VM on the basis of the pilot's control commands.
In practice, this means that the EM control reacts to the current speed, which it always receives in real time, without delay: If the power requirement is higher than the currently provided VM power, the EM control brings about the EM more power on the drive shaft, and vice versa. Accordingly, the EM can also apply a braking force to the drive shaft if the VM power, for example when descending, is too high and the rotor speed increases. The electrical power generated in this way is recuperated and fed into the battery so that it is available later.
In this way, the hybrid system is always flown with the load sharing that uses the available fuel most efficiently. However, this is not achieved by performing complicated calculations, but directly and solely through knowledge of the current speed, knowledge of the optimal speed for the rotor system and the power range with the highest degree of efficiency from the VM.
[0014] The predetermined control of a certain torque by the EM can provoke readjustment of the VM, which compensates for a missing “residual torque”. This mechanism also works if the EM fails. If the VM fails, the EM takes over the provision of the entire resulting torque anyway.
If the EM fails, the hybrid drive system according to the invention becomes a conventional VM drive, because the VM control provides exactly the required torque with a defined delay on the drive shaft available through the VM, which is necessary for the achievement, respectively. is necessary for maintaining the flight attitude specified by the pilot. As the EM reacts very quickly and applies all or a certain part of the required torque to the drive shaft in a targeted manner, a residual torque remains that is automatically compensated by the VM with a delay. If the EM's performance is missing, this is automatically applied by the VM.
In an improved variant, a level meter on the fuel tank and a state of charge meter on the battery are also arranged, which can transmit their measurement data during operation of the EM control. If the EM control determines, for example, that the battery is almost empty, it will deviate from its first directive according to a second directive and cause the battery to be recharged by lowering the EM motor power slowly, which is automatically started up VM performance is enabled.
Optionally, a calculation unit for calculating the energy still available, the required torque on the drive shaft and / or for controlling the converter can be arranged. The EM control can thus determine the energy still available and consequently deviate from the regulation of the first directive according to a second directive in order to provoke further optimized load distributions between EM and VM. The battery can be charged or discharged in a targeted manner in order to save fuel or to temporarily operate the VM with lower power in order to reduce noise emissions.
In addition, if the fuel is scarce, the EM control can burden the EM more to ensure safety. The EM can also be switched on as a booster to provide additional power, e.g. when flying over a high mountain. On the other hand, at extreme altitudes, where the performance of the VM is greatly reduced due to the thin air, the EM can work harder than necessary according to the first directive if the battery charge allows this in order to increase the available performance limit or to save fuel. In the take-off and / or landing phase, only the EM can be operated to reduce noise and exhaust emissions in the take-off or landing phase. Landing area.
As soon as the exceptional situations have ended, the first directive is activated again.

Wege zur Ausführung der ErfindungWays of Carrying Out the Invention
1 shows a hybrid drive system 4 according to the invention in a partial area of a helicopter with a drive train 3, a transmission with a main rotor 1 and a tail rotor 2. An internal combustion engine (VM) 6 and an electric motor (EM) 10 are arranged in parallel on the drive train 3 , wherein the EM 10 is preferably arranged between the VM 6 and the transmission of the main rotor 1. Other arrangements are also possible.
A pilot control 5 takes care of the reception of the control commands of a pilot for the employment of the main rotor blades, whereby the engine power to be set results indirectly as the required torque on the drive shaft 3. The data signal line 19 with the VM controller 7, which is optional for the flight operation according to the invention, also provides the position of the collective blade adjustment.
The VM 6 is connected to a fuel tank 8 and this is connected to the VM controller 7, which can regulate the fuel supply from the fuel tank 8 to the VM 6 in order to provide the necessary drive force on the drive shaft 3. In addition, the EM 10 is connected to a power converter 12 and a charging unit 13 with current peak buffering and to a battery 14, so that the EM 10 can be operated by charging the battery 14, or the battery 14 can be charged by the mechanical power on the EM 10, whereby the drive shaft 3 is either driven or braked. The EM control 11 is connected to the converter 12, which can regulate the converter 12 in order to provide a required drive or braking force on the drive shaft 3.
In addition, a level meter 9 can be arranged on the fuel tank 8 and a state of charge meter 15 can be arranged on the battery 14, which can transmit their measurement data to the calculation unit 16 during operation.
At least one torque sensor 17 and a tachometer 18 are arranged on the drive shaft 3. During operation, the VM controller 7 and the EM controller 11 receive data from at least one torque sensor 17 each and from a tachometer 18.
The calculation unit 16 is connected to the EM controller 11 and to the VM controller 7. It is used to calculate the energy still available, the required torque on the drive shaft 3 and / or to guide the EM control 11. It includes a data memory 20 in which the value of an optimal speed DZo is stored at which an optimal power coupling of the VMs 6 is achieved. At this power limit with the specified speed DZo, the VM 6 achieves the highest level of efficiency.
In operation, it is the EM control 11 which provokes the distribution of the loads on the VM 6 and the EM 10. This is shown schematically in FIG.
The dashed curve in the upper diagram represents the flight attitude at each point in time, as required by the pilot control 5, in particular the flight altitude H. The flight altitude "0" here is to be understood as the ground. The solid line represents the effective flight altitude H, it is slightly delayed. In the first phase I, the helicopter rises steadily until it has reached the desired altitude H1. In the second phase II it flies constantly at this altitude, and in the third phase III it sinks again. It takes a while between all flight phases until the newly specified destination is reached.
The curves in the middle diagram indicate the load PH on the main rotor 3 (dashed line), on the load PVM on the VM 6 (dot-dashed line) and the load PEM on the EM 10 (dotted line). The VM 6 works at a consistently high level after the start-up process. In the first phase I the EM 10 works as an additional drive until the flight altitude H1 is reached, in order then in the second phase II as a generator to load the additionally available energy from the surplus of the power from the VM 6 back into the battery 14. In the descent, in the third phase III, the energy is first recuperated to an even greater extent, in that the EM 10 brakes the drive shaft 3 even further. But then the braking effect PEM is steadily reduced somewhat, so that the speed increases slightly. The VM controller 7 will therefore regulate the power PVMam VM 6 down in the same way.
The solid curve in the bottom diagram indicates the respective speed on the main drive shaft 3. The dashed line represents the optimal speed DZ0. According to the invention, the load on the VM 6 is the same in all three flight positions I, II, III; it is provoked by the EM control 11 to a suitable level, to the optimal speed DZ0. At the end of phase I, when the flight altitude H1 is reached, there is suddenly more power than necessary, so the speed increases for a short time. The EM 12 therefore immediately reduces its output PEM until the desired speed DZ0 is reached again, and then remains constant. Since the VM 6 is much more sluggish than the EM 10, the VM controller 6 does not react in these transitions between phases I and II and phases II and III. The power PVM on the VM is therefore constant, as is the specification of the control itself.
In phase III, the EM control 11 provokes a constant, slightly increased speed according to its second directive. Since this is long-lasting, this now causes the VM controller 7 to continuously reduce the power PVMam VM. As a result, the noise emissions are continuously reduced, which benefits the population in the landing area.
To distribute the power of EM 10 and VM 6 of this hybrid drive 4, only the tachometer 18 on the drive shaft 3 is needed. If the EM control 11 determines that the speed of the drive shaft 3 is lower than the optimized speed DZ0, which is the case at the beginning of phase I, it provides an additional drive on the EM 10 until the speed has reached the desired value DZ0 is raised. The work on the EM 10 then remains constant until the speed again deviates from the setpoint DZ0. If the speed is greater, as is the case at the beginning of phases II and III, the EM controller 11 lowers the power PEMam EM 10 again until the desired value DZ0 is reached again. When traveling or descending, the performance of the EM 10 is even reduced to such an extent that its contribution becomes negative and thus acts as a brake. The control of the use by the EM 10 is thus achieved solely via the measured speed on the drive shaft 3.
