Fig. 2) ausgebildet.

The invention relates to a compressor according to the preamble of claim 1 and a turbocharger equipped with such a compressor, in particular exhaust gas turbocharger.
In the design manual of MAN Diesel SE (based in Augsburg in Germany) is described on page 77 (section 0410.02) a compressor of the type mentioned. Such a compressor 1 as shown in Fig. 1 comprises a compressor housing 10 with an air inlet 11 and an air outlet 12, a drive shaft 30 which is rotatably mounted in the compressor housing 10, so that the drive shaft 30 via a drive acting thereon (in Fig. 1 not shown), such as
an electric motor or a turbine runner (both not shown), a compressor impeller 40 disposed in the compressor housing 10 with respect to an air flow path between the air inlet 11 and the air outlet 12 on the drive shaft 30, and a plurality of supply air openings 50 formed as nozzles on for selective supply of supply air to the compressor impeller 40 in the compressor housing 10. Thus, the compressor impeller 10, for example be accelerated regardless of the drive in a sudden increase in load on an air supplied from the compressor 1 combustion engine, so that a provided by the compressor 1 at the air outlet 12 and the amount of air at the air outlet 12 can be tapped boost pressure is increased.
In this form of speed increase of the compressor wheel 40, which is also referred to as Jet Assist, supply air through the nozzle-shaped Zuluftöffnungen 50 which in an insert 13 which is inserted into the compressor housing 10, so that the insert 13, the compressor impeller 40th Air inlet surrounds radially surrounds, are formed, blown onto the blading of the compressor impeller 40. As a result, the compressor impeller is accelerated and thus promotes more air to the internal combustion engine, whereby their Lastaufschaltverhalten is improved.
Jet Assist is usually preferably used at low speed ranges. Nevertheless, the air blast of the supply air, the blading of the compressor impeller 40 are excited to vibrate. However, such vibrations can lead to fractures. In order to counteract the vibrations, the pressure of the supply air to be inflated onto the blading can be limited, but at the same time limits the amount of air that can additionally be supplied to the internal combustion engine by means of compressed air acceleration.
In addition, the supply air openings 50, even in the high load range, in which no supply air is supplied, lead solely by their existence to a vibration excitation of the blading of the compressor impeller 40. The thickening of the blading to reduce the vibration load is not desirable because of the efficiency drop and the lower absorption capacity of the compressor impeller 40. The supply air openings 50 in the insert 13 can additionally reduce the efficiency of the compressor 1, since 40 edge losses can occur due to the "over-wiping" of the blading of the compressor impeller.
The invention has for its object to provide a compressor for a turbocharger, wherein the compressor has improved operating characteristics with respect to a fast increase in air volume and boost pressure increase at the air outlet of the compressor. The invention is further based on the object to provide a equipped with such a compressor turbocharger.
This is achieved with a compressor according to claim 1 and a turbocharger according to claim 10. Further developments of the invention are defined in the respective dependent claims.
According to a first aspect of the invention, a compressor for a turbocharger comprises a compressor housing having an air inlet for receiving air to be compressed in the compressor and an air outlet for discharging compressed air in the compressor, a drive shaft rotatable in the Compressor housing is mounted so that the drive shaft is rotatably driven via a drive acting thereon, a compressor impeller, which is arranged in the compressor housing with respect to an air flow path between the air inlet and air outlet on the drive shaft, and at least one supply air opening for selectively supplying supply air into the compressor housing to increase, independent of the drive, an amount of air provided by the compressor at the air outlet.
The inventive compressor is characterized in that the at least one supply air opening in the air flow path in the compressor housing between the compressor impeller and the air outlet is arranged so that the supply air can be fed to a leaked from the compressor impeller air flow to the air outlet.
By virtue of the fact that the demand-dependent or load-circuit-dependent supply air according to the invention only after the air flow sucked into the compressor via the air inlet has passed the compressor impeller has been supplied to this air flow, the supply air has no negative effects, e.g. a vibration excitation of the blading of the compressor impeller, on the compressor impeller. Thus, the amount of air or the pressure of the supply air is not subject to compressor-related restrictions, whereby the one connected to the compressor as a consumer combustion engine in a sudden load switching quickly additional air quantity (or boost pressure) is not subject to compressor-related restrictions.
Since the supply air is still supplied within the housing, namely between compressor impeller and air outlet, the system compressor and load connection reaction member (here the Zuluftöffnungen) can be realized extremely compact in one unit, with an impairment (eg damage by vibration excitation) the compressor impeller is safely avoided.
According to one embodiment of the compressor according to the invention, the at least one supply air opening is formed so that the supply air can be fed directionally conform to a flow direction of the air flow to the air outlet. Directional conformity according to the invention is to be understood that the flow direction of the supply air is similar to the flow direction of the coming of the compressor impeller air flow. The supply air preferably impinges on the airflow coming from the compressor impeller at an angle of less than 90 degrees and more preferably less than 45 degrees. As a result, turbulences and the associated power losses are largely reduced.
More preferably, the at least one supply air opening is formed so that the supply air directionally equal, i. essentially parallel to the flow direction of the air flow to the air outlet can be supplied. This minimizes turbulence and associated power losses.
According to yet another embodiment of the inventive compressor a compressor spiral is formed in the compressor housing, wherein the compressor spiral connects as air passage in the air flow path via a radially extending intermediate passage or diffuser passage to the compressor impeller and opens into the air outlet, and wherein the at least one Supply air opening is formed in the intermediate passage or the compressor spiral.
By supplying the supply air in the region of the intermediate passage or the compressor spiral from incoming air and coming from the compressor impeller air flow existing total air flow has sufficient time and way available so that turbulence can end and the total air flow can take a homogeneous form. Thus, this supply of externally generated pressurized supply air for a consumer connected to the compressor, such as an internal combustion engine (for example a diesel engine), fluidly hardly "perceptible", so that an optimal Lastaufschaltverhalten of the consumer can be achieved.
According to one embodiment of the inventive compressor further comprises a Nachleitapparat which is arranged in the intermediate passage, wherein the at least one inlet air opening is preferably formed in a wall of the intermediate passage in an outlet region of the Nachleitapparats.
The arrangement according to the Nachleitapparat on the one hand provides an additional barrier for a return flow of supply air to the compressor impeller and on the other hand ensures that coming from the compressor impeller air stream prepared and possibly further accelerated to the supply air flow, so that thereafter essentially only by the supply air caused turbulence must be compensated.
According to one embodiment of the inventive compressor, the at least one supply air opening is formed in a wall of a transition of intermediate passage and compressor spiral. Preferably, this wall extends substantially perpendicular to the flow direction of the air flow coming from the compressor impeller, so that the supply air can flow almost parallel into this air flow, whereby turbulence is minimized.
According to one embodiment of the inventive compressor, the at least one supply air opening is formed in a wall of the compressor spiral.
With knowledge of the concrete flow conditions in the compressor spiral, the supply air opening can be provided (for example as an oblique slot or bore) in such a way that the supply air flows into the air flow to the air outlet with little turbulence.
According to a further embodiment of the inventive compressor, the at least one inlet air opening in a direction of an axial direction of the compressor directly to the intermediate passage adjacent or the intermediate passage facing directionally conforming thereto extending wall portion of the wall of the compressor spiral is formed.
According to yet another embodiment of the inventive compressor, the supply air opening is formed in an adjacent to the compressor impeller, in a radial direction of the compressor inner wall portion of the wall of the compressor spiral.
According to one embodiment of the inventive compressor further comprises an insert which is inserted into the compressor housing, so that the insert radially surrounds the compressor wheel, wherein between an outer periphery of the insert and the compressor housing is formed in the Zuluftöffnung a terminating Zuluftpassage and wherein the supply air passage has a Zulufteingang which is arranged on an outer side of the compressor housing.
Thus, the supply air can be easily feed, preferably provided in the usual Jet Assist systems connection and possibly also parts of the air ducts can be used, so that on the one hand the constructive change effort is minimized and on the other hand, if necessary, even a conversion and / or upgrade existing compressor is possible.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the inventive compressor, the compressor is designed as a single-stage centrifugal compressor or centrifugal compressor.
According to a second aspect of the invention, a turbocharger on a compressor according to one, several or all previously described embodiments of the invention in any conceivable combination.
According to one embodiment of the inventive turbocharger, this further comprises a turbine having a turbine housing and a drive for the drive shaft forming turbine runner, which is arranged in the turbine housing and which is arranged on the drive shaft.

The compressor 1 comprises a compressor housing 10 having an air inlet 11 for receiving air to be compressed in the compressor 1 and an air outlet 12 for discharging compressed air in the compressor 1, a drive shaft 30 rotatably supported in the compressor housing 10 in that the drive shaft 30 is rotationally drivable via a drive of the turbine 2 acting thereon, and a compressor wheel 40 with a blading 41, wherein the compressor impeller 40 in the compressor housing 10 with respect to an air flow path between the air inlet 11 and the air outlet 12 and on the drive shaft 30 is arranged.
The turbine 2 is formed in a conventional manner and has a turbine housing 20 and a drive wheel for the drive shaft 30 forming turbine runner 21, which is arranged in the turbine housing 20 and on the drive shaft 30.
In the compressor housing 10 of the compressor 1, a diffuser passage or intermediate passage 14 and a compressor spiral 15 are formed in the form of a spiral housing. The compressor spiral 15 adjoins the compressor impeller 40 as an air passage in the air flow path via the radially extending intermediate passage 14 and opens into the air outlet 12.
The compressor 1 further comprises a Nachleitapparat 60 which is arranged in the intermediate passage 14, and one or more Zuluftöffnungen 50 (hereinafter, for simplicity, only referred to at least one Zuluftöffnung 50) taken on their possible positions in the compressor 1 are shown schematically in the form of arrows in FIGS. 3A to 3E. The at least one supply air opening 50 is used for selectively supplying supply air (in the form of compressed air or blowing air) into the compressor housing 10 for increasing independently of the drive an amount of air provided by the compressor 1 at the air outlet 12 (or for correspondingly increasing the charge pressure).
The at least one supply air opening 50 is arranged in the air flow path in the compressor housing 10 between the compressor impeller 40 and the air outlet 12, so that the supply air can be supplied to a leaked from the compressor impeller 40 air flow to the air outlet 12 out. According to embodiments of the invention, the at least one supply air opening 50 is formed in one of the intermediate passage 14 and the compressor spiral 15.
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 4, the compressor 1 further has an insert 13, which is inserted into the compressor housing 10 on the air inlet side, so that the insert 13 radially encloses the compressor impeller 40, between an outer circumference of the insert 13 and the compressor housing 10 in the at least one supply air opening 50 ending or opening Zuluftpassage 51 (see FIG. 4, the bold arrow in the right-side Vergrösserungsausschnitt) is formed, and wherein the Zuluftpassage 51 a Zulufteingang (not shown), which at one Outside of the compressor housing 10 is arranged.
The supply air may e.g. a start-up bottle (not shown) of a turbocharged engine (e.g., diesel engine) or other source of pressurized air (not shown) are removed and supplied to the supply air passage 51 via its intake air inlet. In this case, advantageously, e.g. the previous air connection of a Jet Assist system on the compressor housing 10 are used. The supply air then passes along the supply air passage 51 via an existing channel in the space between the compressor housing 10 and insert 13, from which the supply air is fed to the at least one supply air opening 50, where it exits.
3, according to embodiments of the invention, the at least one supply air opening 50 is designed so that the supply air can be fed in directional conformity to a flow direction of the air flow to the air outlet 12 (compare FIGS. 3A, 3C, 3E, FIG. 3D). According to another embodiment of the invention, the at least one supply air opening 50 is formed so that the supply air can be fed to the air outlet 12 directionally equal to the flow direction of the air flow.
As shown in FIGS. 3A and 7 as well as FIG. 3E, according to embodiments of the invention, the at least one supply air opening 50 is formed in a wall of the compressor spiral 15.
According to FIG. 3A and FIG. 7, the at least one supply air opening 50 is formed in a wall section 15a of the wall of the compressor spiral 15 which is directly adjacent to the intermediate passage 14 in an axial direction of the compressor 1.
According to FIG. 3E, the at least one supply air opening 50 is formed in a wall section 15b of the wall of the compressor spiral 15 adjacent to the compressor impeller 40 and located in a radial direction of the compressor 1.
As shown in FIG. 3B and FIGS. 5, 6A and 6B, according to one embodiment of the invention, the at least one supply air opening 50 is formed in a wall of a shoulder forming transition between intermediate passage 14 and compressor spiral 15. Preferably, this wall or shoulder extends substantially parallel to the flow direction of the airflow coming from the compressor impeller 40, so that the supply air can flow into this air stream almost tangentially, whereby turbulences are minimized.
As shown in FIGS. 3C and 3D, according to embodiments of the invention, the at least one supply air opening 50 is located in a wall of the intermediate passage 14 in an outlet region of the Nachleitapparats 60 (not shown in Figs. 3C and 3D, see Fig. FIG 2). The outlet of the supply air is advantageously carried out approximately in the direction of the outflow of the Nachleitapparates 60, so directionally consistent.
The one or more Zuluftöffnungen 50 may be designed as oblique or straight slots or holes.
The flow area of the slots or holes can be chosen to be much larger than is possible in a Jet Assist system, since the excitation of the blading 41 of the compressor impeller 40 no consideration must be taken. The efficiency disadvantage caused by the supply air openings 51 provided in the Jet Assist system (see FIG. 1) also does not occur in the case of the supply air opening (s) 50 designed according to the invention.
