c) Un moteur d'enfilage qui, en cas de rupture du fil, actionne le premier et le second galets au moyen d'un train d'engrenages;
In principle, two cases of rupture can arise: one, fortuitous and the other, intentional, because one has completed the machining of a specific area / part and that one needs to machine another.
From the moment the wire is broken, it is possible to thread it entirely or partially by human intervention, but on EDM machines that will operate even at night, the need has arisen to design a device threading the thread in automatic mode and therefore without human intervention.
The present invention relates to an automatic wire threading device for an EDM machine, characterized in that it comprises a threading device by traction composed of:
a) A first and a second free rollers provided with an internal surface for driving in rotation and a free external surface.
b) A pivoting arm supporting the second roller and subjected to the action of fluid-mechanical elements, which, in normal situation, separate the second roller from the first and, in the threading situation, place the two rollers in contact in sight to lead the wire.
c) A threading motor which, in the event of a break in the thread, actuates the first and second rollers by means of a gear train;
said apparatus also comprising a cutting device and a fine-jet guide water circuit, all of the control elements being controlled by a central unit.
Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the path of the wire.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the upper head as part of the threading device according to the invention.
Fig. 3 shows a subset of the upper elements of the upper head of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of two half-sections at 90 DEG from the lower part of the upper head of FIG. 2.
The wire (1) of EDM comes from upstream of the upper head (2) through a roller (3) which drives a coil or dynamo (not shown) whose current is captured by a central unit ( 4) (fig. 1) controlling all the actuating elements of the threading devices which will be described later.
We can observe, in fig. 2, that the wire (1) is introduced into the upper head (2) by a funnel-shaped guide (5) made, for example, of ceramic, to lead to a current supply (6) of polygonal shape preferably made of tungsten carbide and whose sides are convex to improve contact.
The polygonal shape is intended to increase the service life of the current supply (6), since, when one of the sides (7) is worn, said current supply (6) can be pivoted and present thus another side which will in turn ensure the contact-guide function.
Facing the current supply (6) is provided a guide plate (8) serving to limit the movement of the wire (1) and the concave profile (9) of which is oriented facing said current supply (6) and marries form.
If the wire (1) fulfills its function normally, it goes from the current supply (6) to the mouthpieces (12) and, via the corresponding guides, leaves the upper head (2) to reach the workpiece (t) and continue on to the lower head (20). If the thread (1) breaks, the threading device comes into action, starting with the pulling mechanism by traction.
The pulling device by traction comprises two free rollers (10), (11) whose particularity consists in that their internal surface is a rotational drive surface and their free external surface. In normal situation, these two rollers are separated from each other.
In the event of wire breakage (1), breakage which, in the vast majority of cases, takes place in the machining zone (t), that is to say, between the upper head (2) and the lower head (20) (fig. 1), the main traction roller (21) no longer drives the wire (1), so that the roller (3) stops and, the dynamo associated with said roller no longer producing current, the central unit (4) detects the absence of current and controls (fig. 3) the commissioning of the pneumatic cylinder (25) whose action comes to oppose that of the spring (22) of spacing of the free rollers (10), (11) (fig. 2), which pneumatic cylinder, by means of the arm (23) pivoting on the axis (24), positions the roller (11) integral with said arm (23) facing to the other free roller (10).
The central unit (4) also controls the operation of the threading motor (m1).
For driving the free rollers (10), (11), a threading motor (m1) is provided which drives the two free rollers (10), (11) by means of a gear train, this which makes it possible to prevent a deformation of the wire (1) at the outlet of the above-mentioned rollers from hindering the entrainment or the engagement of said wire in the various elements situated downstream.
The cutting device controlled by the central unit (4) cuts the wire (1), thus producing, between said device and the cutting zone, a piece of wire which must be eliminated.
The cutting device comprises a fixed upper blade (13) and a lower blade (14) actuated by a pneumatic cylinder (15) provided with a guided transmission axis (16) and a return spring (17), which return spring (17) exerts an inverted action on said lower blade (14) (fig. 2 and 4). Said cutting device also comprises a clamping cover (18) having a toroidal recess (19) facing the lower part of the lower blade (14), which toroidal recess receives pressurized air in order to form a tightening mat pressing the lower blade (14) against the upper blade (13) and thereby improving the cut.
The mouths of the wire (1) have the shape of a funnel, except that of the lower blade (14) which is cylindrical, in order to facilitate cutting.
At the exit from the cutting zone is provided a guide sleeve (27) provided with an internal water conduit (28) which, thanks to its constriction (29) at the point where it opens into the general conduit wire guide (1), sends a fine water jet (30) which guides the wire (1) to the outlet mouth (26) of the upper head (2).
Inside the upper head (2), between the wire conduits (1) and the outside, is provided a water conduit (32) which opens into the outlet (26) and performs the cleaning and cooling.
There is also a wire detector (33) (1) downstream of the traction roller (21).
Sir following a rupture, the central unit (4), after having ordered the starting of the threading device, does not receive any signal from the detector (33), said central unit will again trigger the operations described.
