la fig. 1 représente une vue en élévation d'un couteau dont le mousqueton est en position sortie;
The present invention relates to a retractable carabiner for a pocket knife, in particular for a multifunction knife comprising several accessories. Pocket knives of known types, and in particular multifunction knives, can include several very diverse accessories, such as blades, scissors, corkscrews, etc. However, no accessory intended to hang or fix various elements together is available on a knife.
The main object of the present invention is to provide a multifunction pocket knife comprising a carabiner. This goal is achieved by the means claimed.
The knife carabiner according to the present invention offers the user a multitude of possible uses. It can be used, for example, to hang the knife on another element, to connect various elements together such as cables with rings, to grab an object presenting any danger such as a hot or sharp object, etc. In addition, a locking mechanism is provided to prevent the carabiner from accidentally pivoting. The same means allow the pivoting element of the carabiner to be kept in the closed position in order to avoid any stalling of an object.
The invention is set out below in more detail, using the attached drawing comprising the following figures:
fig. 1 shows an elevational view of a knife, the carabiner is in the extended position;
fig. 2 shows a similar view where the carabiner is in the closed position.
A pivot rod 3 is arranged at one end of the handle 1 so that its axis is substantially perpendicular to the pivot plane of the various accessories of the knife, designated by arrow A. The carabiner 2 is connected to the knife by means of the rod 3 which crosses the head 25 of the carabiner. The tight fit of the rod 3 in the head 25 provides a rigid fixing preventing the carabiner from oscillating other than in the plane A of opening / closing of the accessories, while allowing pivoting in said plane A between a first extreme position. exit and a second extreme position retracted.
The carabiner comprises a folded element 21 consisting of a profile, preferably of metal alloy, of thin and elongated shape, extending longitudinally from the head 25, then folding back on itself at its end in the shape of an inverted U. Profile 21 thus forms a partial loop. A pivoting closure element 22 completes the loop. Said element, consisting of a profile similar to that of the hook 21, extends from the head 25 towards the free end of the folded element 21. The folded element 21 and the closing element 22 are fixed so to be able to pivot around the pivot 3. The ends of each of the profiles 21 and 22 cooperate with each other so as to form a closure joint 23.
This seal is shaped so that the closure element cannot pivot towards the outside of the loop, for example by tilting the contact plane of the seal 23 as illustrated in FIG. 1.
A spring leaf 4 arranged laterally along the handle 1 makes it possible to lock the carabiner in the extended or retracted position, in order to avoid any unwanted pivoting of the latter. The operation of this lock is described below. A catch 27 presses against the end of the blade 4 when the carabiner is in the fully extended position. The spring leaf has on the rim of its internal free end an active face 5 which cooperates with a support rim 21a preferably substantially flat, shaped on the rim of the folded element 21 between the pivot 3 and the active face 5 of the blade, when the carabiner is in the almost extended position or in the extreme extended position.
The active face 5 cooperates with a substantially flat support rim 21b, shaped on the rim of the folded element 21 opposite to the support rim 21a, when the carabiner is in the almost retracted position or in the extreme retracted position. The force exerted by the spring blade 4 thus tends to move the carabiner in its closest extreme position, extended or retracted.
The closure element 22 is also subjected to the action of the spring leaf 4. The active face 5 cooperates with an active edge 22a which is substantially flat, shaped on the edge of the closure element 22 between the pivot 3 and the active face 5 of the blade 4. The effect exerted by the spring blade 4 tends to move the closure element 22 towards its extreme closed position when the carabiner is itself in one or other of its extreme positions.
When the carabiner is in the extended position, the user can move the closing element 22 to his liking in order to free access and thus hang various objects. The closing element, under the effect of the pretension of the blade, is replaced automatically so as to close the loop, to ensure that the object hooked does not come out accidentally from the carabiner. Still thanks to the preload of the spring blade, the user must exert a certain force (greater than the retention force exerted by the blade) to pivot the carabiner from the extended position to the retracted position, or vice versa . Any inadvertent pivoting of the carabiner is thus avoided.
The head portion 25 situated opposite the loop of the carabiner is advantageously shaped in an arc of a circle so as to ensure a uniform pivoting movement along this portion of contour when the carabiner is pivoted from the extended position. to the retracted position or vice versa.
A substantially central point of the spring leaf 4 is fixed to the handle 1 by a fixing 6 allowing the blade to pivot slightly around the fixing 6. A pre-tension is however maintained so as to ensure the locking effect previously described .
A notch 24 arranged on one of the faces of the hook portion 21 allows the user to take out the carabiner with greater ease.
