Fig. 1: Vorrichtung in Draufsicht und
Fig. 2: Schnitt durch ein Zentrier- und Spannelement.
The invention relates to a device for coupling a pallet that receives a workpiece to a base plate fastened to a machine tool according to the preamble of claim 1.
Devices of this type, which are often also referred to as a pallet clamping or pallet centering system, serve to clamp workpieces on machine tools. The workpieces are not attached directly to the machine tool itself, but are pre-assembled on a workpiece carrier in the form of a pallet outside the working area of the machine tool. This makes it possible to minimize the machine's idle times, since the processing only has to be interrupted briefly to change the pallets. It is therefore of the utmost importance that the pallets on which the individual workpieces are clamped in a precisely specified position can be positioned and clamped extremely precisely with high repeatability on the machine tool.
Such a pallet clamping system is described, for example, in a brochure from Mecatool "GPS 240, pallet holder 100 / pallet". On the one hand, this consists of a base plate referred to as a pallet holder, which is provided for fixed mounting on a machine tool. It has a square basic shape with positioning and clamping elements arranged on it. Four positioning elements and four clamping elements are provided. The positioning elements ensure that the pallet can be placed precisely and with high reproducibility in relation to the base plate. The tensioning elements each have a tensioning pin which carries a plurality of tensioning balls which, when actuated by force, are designed to be essentially radially displaceable.
The clamping pins engage in correspondingly designed receiving openings on the pallet and are brought there to the non-positive contact. This means that the pallet is precisely positioned and fixed in relation to the base plate and also in relation to the machine tool itself.
Although such a clamping system in itself allows the pallet to be positioned with a high degree of repeatability, it has some disadvantages which, depending on the application, can impair the functionality. In particular, there is a risk that the pallet will be at least elastically deformed as a result of the clamping process. Due to the manufacturing process, it can often not be avoided that slight deviations occur with regard to the required concentric arrangement of the clamping pins of the base plate and the receiving openings of the pallet. The clamping force is thus distributed unevenly within the receiving openings and there is the described risk of deformation of the pallet.
In order to largely eliminate this danger, the pallets are either made with a large material thickness or require an extremely complex, profiled structure, as can be seen in the company brochure above.
The invention was therefore based on the problem of improving a device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that these disadvantages no longer occur. In particular, a pallet clamping system should be designed in which deformation of the pallet in the tensioned state is reliably avoided and which does not place particularly high demands on the design of the pallet. Possibly. Eccentricities that occur with regard to the assignment of clamping pins of the base plate to the receiving opening of the pallet should be avoided so that the pallet itself is no longer deformed.
This problem is solved in a generic device with the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are given by the features of the dependent claims.
The invention is based on the basic idea of designing the clamping elements in such a way that at least those parts which generate the holding force are floating and can therefore center themselves in the respective receiving opening. It is thus possible to transmit the power transmission within each clamping element in an ideal, centrally symmetrical manner and thus to avoid any bending stress causing deformation.
In the specific embodiment of the invention, the clamping pin is hollow and carries three clamping balls which are evenly distributed over the circumference and are displaceably mounted in through openings of the clamping pin. The clamping balls are acted upon by a tapered mandrel, which can be actuated axially displaceably by means of a piston mounted in the interior of the clamping pin. The taper mandrel is floating on the piston, and thus within the clamping pin, i.e. it can change its radial position with respect to the clamping pin. He is thus able to align himself automatically on the axis of symmetry of the receiving opening and, as a result of an axial displacement movement, the three balls evenly, ie. H. with the same preload against the inner wall of the recess on the pallet.
Any eccentricity of the assignment between the clamping pin and the receiving opening is therefore completely compensated for within wide limits.
Further measures are aimed, on the one hand, to improve the handling of the device and, on the other hand, to keep the design effort as low as possible.
For example, the clamping pin is hollow and accommodates all essential actuating elements, such as, for example, clamping pin, piston, as well as any blown air ducts and actuating elements to be provided. A particularly space-saving and effective concept can be realized if, according to a particularly preferred embodiment, the clamping pin has a receiving prism on the end face, which is aligned with a centering bolt which is arranged at the base of the receiving opening in which the clamping pin engages. In this case, the positioning elements and the clamping elements are each assigned to one another and arranged one above the other.
With regard to the pallet construction, there is a further simplification if, according to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the receiving opening is designed in the form of a receiving sleeve. The inner wall of the receiving sleeve is designed in the contact area with the clamping balls in the manner of a cone shell, so that when the cone mandrel is actuated and the associated displacement of the clamping balls, the clamping sleeve is pulled downwards in the direction of the base plate. This ensures that the centering pin comes to rest exactly on the mounting prism.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiment shown schematically in the figures. Show it:
Fig. 1: Device in top view and
Fig. 2: section through a centering and clamping element.
A base plate 10 is attached to a machine tool, not shown here. With respect to the base plate 10, a pallet 100 is positioned and fixed exactly reproducible.
Both the base plate 10 and the pallet 100 have a square outline. Four positioning and tensioning elements (20 to 55) are assigned to the respective corner areas, which are designed with the same structural design.
2, a receiving sleeve 50 is attached to the underside of the pallet 100. This has a receptacle opening 51, the inside diameter of which decreases at the lower, tapering end toward the end face and thus has the shape of a truncated cone in this area. This area is the area on which the clamping balls 45 act in the manner explained in more detail below. A centering pin 55 is integrated at the base of the receiving opening 51.
The base plate 10 has a step-like bore 11, into which a clamping pin 20 is inserted and fastened therein. For this purpose, the clamping pin 20 has at its lower end a fastening flange 21 which is precisely matched to the bore of the base plate 10. At the transition to the mounting flange 21 there is a groove 24 in the manner of a recess, into which a sealing ring 29 is inserted. This has the task of sealing the gap between the receiving sleeve 50 and the clamping pin 20 and preventing the ingress of dirt or other impurities.
The clamping pin 20 is provided with a recess 22 into which an axially displaceably mounted piston 30 is inserted. The piston 30 is pressed upwards by a compression spring 38 in the illustration according to FIG. 2. The compression spring 38 engages on the piston 30 at the base of a bore 31 and is supported opposite on the base of a bore 12 of the base plate 10. The piston 30 is actuated by a fluid which can be supplied under pressure via a channel 13 of the base plate 10 and a channel 26 in the fastening flange 21 to the recess 22 in the region between the fastening flange 21 and the piston 30. The piston 30 is therefore sealed in the clamping pin 20. Grooves 32, 33 are made on the piston, into which seals 34, 35 are inserted.
The piston 30 carries on its upper end face a tapered mandrel 40 which is fixed in terms of its axial position with respect to the piston 30 by a retaining pin 36. However, the conical mandrel 40 is, in the rest, freely floating, so that it can change its axial orientation with respect to the piston 30 with respect to the clamping pin 20. The conical mandrel 40 is directed with its outer surface 41 onto the clamping balls 45.
The clamping balls 45 are slidably mounted in through openings 25 which are introduced in the clamping pin 20 in a substantially radial manner. They run slightly obliquely inclined inwards with respect to the horizontal, so that the tensioning balls 45 inserted therein tend to slide back into the interior of the tensioning pin 20 as soon as the piston 30 and thus the cone mandrel 40 are moved downward. Conversely, in order to generate the clamping or holding force, the piston is pressed upward, so that the clamping balls 45 are pressed radially outward as a result of the contour of the conical mandrel 40 and are thus brought into non-positive contact with the receiving sleeve 50. As a result of the likewise conical contour of the receiving opening 51, the receiving sleeve 50, and with it the pallet 100, is forced downward in the direction of the base plate 10.
This ensures that the centering pin 55 is brought fully into contact with a receiving prism 28 which is integrated on the end face of the clamping pin 20.
To place the pallet 100, the piston 30 is first actuated and shifted downward, so that the tensioning balls 45 are relieved and can retreat radially inwards into the tensioning pin 20. Now the pallet 100 is put on, the clamping pin 20 penetrating into the receiving opening 51 of the receiving sleeve 50. The centering takes place by the centering pin 50 resting on the receiving prism 28. The clamping process is now triggered. For this purpose, the piston 30 is moved upward in a force-actuated manner until the tapered mandrel 40 comes to rest on the first clamping ball 45 and, upon further upward movement, automatically applies itself to all three clamping balls 45 in a centering manner. Due to the further upward movement of the piston 30, the balls 45 are pressed radially outward and are brought into contact with the receiving sleeve 50.
In the end position, the maximum contact pressure is achieved, which ensures the desired fixation.
The uncoupling of the pallet 100 is initiated by lowering the piston 30 and the movement sequence described is reversed.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, four such centering and clamping elements are arranged in a centrally symmetrical arrangement. The orientation of the centering bolts and the receiving prisms is identical with respect to the centering and clamping elements arranged opposite each other and offset by 90 ° with respect to two adjacent ones. This allows a so-called 90 ° indexing, since the pallet 100 can be attached rotated by 90 ° in four different positions with respect to the base plate.
For cleaning the centering and clamping point, blown air channels 23 are integrated, the tread openings of which are aligned with the corresponding points.
