Abstract

The drive mechanism incorporates a belt with teeth on one side, engaging in corresponding grooves in the outside surface of a pulley. There is a device on the pulley to prevent the belt sliding off. The device consists of an open ring (1) made of round wire. This fits in an annular groove running round the circumference of the toothed pulley (3). The groove is in the middle of the width of the pulley. The wire projects above the base circle of the teeth on the pulley and engages in a lengthwise groove along the centreline of the flat toothed belt (2). It forms a guide for the belt in the lateral direction.

Description

With a toothed belt drive, the slipping of the flat toothed belt from the toothed pulley is mainly prevented with flanged pulleys that are attached to both sides of the toothed pulley. For this drive, the flanged wheels require additional space in diameter and width.

It has been shown that the installation dimensions for toothed belt drives with flanged wheels have to be designed larger than the design requires. As a result, many designs with toothed belt drives are not possible in a small space.

The range of commercially available standard toothed pulleys and standard toothed flat belts covers most applications. That is why it makes sense to retrofit a space-saving guide device.

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating an inexpensive variant for the lateral guidance of flat toothed belts which is not bulky in diameter and width.

In the solution according to the invention, the open ring is inserted into the subsequently created annular groove in the toothed pulley, so that this arrangement engages simultaneously with the subsequently provided longitudinal groove and with the teeth of the flat toothed belt.

The embodiment according to the patent claim represents a particularly simple constructive solution for the lateral guidance of a toothed flat belt.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawings. It shows:

1 is a partial sectional side view through a toothed belt drive,
2 shows a cross section through the toothed belt drive according to section line I-I of FIG. 1st

Fig. 1 shows the guide device in its structure. An open ring 1 made of round wire is inserted into the ring groove of the toothed disc 3. The toothed flat belt 2 engages simultaneously with the teeth in the teeth of the toothed pulley 3 and with the longitudinal groove in the ring 1. From FIG. 2 it can be seen in particular that the toothed pulley 3 and the open ring 1 are simultaneously in engagement with the toothed flat belt 2, so that it is guided laterally. It has been shown that precision mechanical designs with toothed belt drives cannot be carried out because of the additional space required for the flanged wheels. The invention is now able to install a toothed belt drive in a small space available.
