Beschreibung description
The invention relates to a method for automatically switching light sources on and off by means of a switching arrangement as a function of the presence or absence of persons and the illuminance in a room, the presence or absence of persons by evaluating the output signal of a passive infrared sensor and the illuminance of a light sensor are detected, and when the light sources are switched on, they are switched off if the output signal of the passive infrared sensor does not exceed a predetermined threshold value during a predetermined period of time and the absence of persons is thus assumed. The invention further relates to a switching arrangement for performing the method.
A method for automatically switching a luminaire on and off depending on the illuminance and the number of people present is e.g. known from European Patent Application No. 447 136. Furthermore, devices with passive infrared sensors (PIR) are known, with which light sources are switched on and off when movement of people is detected. The main disadvantage of these devices is the insufficient sensitivity of the PIR sensors, with which small and large movements cannot be distinguished.
The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method for automatically switching light sources on and off in the presence or absence of persons, which is sufficiently sensitive and capable of detecting small and large movements of persons, so that the method works in a practical manner automatic switching on and off of luminaires enables energy savings without sacrificing comfort.
This object is achieved with the characterizing features of patent claim 1.
In practice, the two threshold values for the output signal of the PIR sensor, the evaluation of whether both thresholds or only one has been exceeded, and the corresponding selection of a switch-off time result in very good switching of the light sources without faulty switching.
Preferably, the threshold values are also redefined from time to time depending on the noise level of the PIR sensor. In particular, the lower threshold value can be set only slightly above the noise level, which results in very good sensitivity for small movements of people.
The invention is also based on the object of providing a switching arrangement for carrying out the method. This is done with the features of claim 7.
Es zeigen: The invention is explained below with reference to the drawings. Show it:

Fig. 1 shows a switching arrangement with an evaluation device 1, which e.g. is formed by a microprocessor. A PIR sensor 2 designed to detect movement of people is provided in the switching arrangement, the signals of which are filtered via a bandpass filter 3 and displayed to the evaluation device via two different threshold switches 4, 5. These threshold value switches are preferably also formed by the microprocessor, that is to say in software, which allows the threshold values to be changed easily. A light sensor 6 is also connected to the evaluation device via an A / D converter 7. The PIR sensor 2 is preferably also additionally connected to the A / D converter 7, so that the output signal of the PIR sensor 2 can also be converted in order to detect the noise level of the PIR sensor. A non-volatile memory 5 for storing various threshold values is connected to the microprocessor. A manual switch 12 is provided for switching the lighting on and off manually. The light sources 10, 11 are switched on and off via a switching device 9 controlled by the evaluation device. This switching arrangement enables the lighting to be switched on and off automatically in accordance with the method according to the invention.
The PIR sensor 2 responds to changes in the infrared signals that are emitted by each thermal source and whose wavelength is directly proportional to the temperature of the source. For the detection of the signals emitted by the human body, PIR sensors are known which have optical filters which are adapted to the wavelength corresponding to the temperature of the human body. The PIR sensors emit relatively large noise signals, e.g. from the output signals caused by human movements. must be filtered out by low-frequency bandpass filters.
A person entering the room causes very large output signals at the PIR sensor compared to the signals that e.g. caused by the moving fingers on a keyboard of a computer. This fact is taken into account in the method according to the invention by using two different thresholds for the detection of movements with the PIR sensor. The first small threshold value corresponds to the output signal of the sensor as it is generated by the fingers of a person moving over a keyboard, and the second substantially larger threshold value corresponds to the output signal which is generated by a person entering the room.
Fig. 2 shows schematically a time course of the detected infrared signals IR, these being shown as time-quantized values, as e.g.

Mit diesem Verfahren ist es möglich, den ersten Schwellenwert S1 sehr nahe an der Rauschgrenze des PIR-Sensors zu wählen. the case is when the microprocessor regularly scans the filtered output signal of the PIR sensor and, in accordance with these infrared signals IR, switches the light sources or the lighting on and off. The lighting is only switched on in a room (time TO) when the larger threshold value S2 of the infrared signal is exceeded, the lower threshold value S1 also being exceeded, of course. If the two threshold values were exceeded during the last signal acquisition and the light sources are switched on (time T1), it is assumed that these signals were caused by a person leaving the room, and the lighting is switched off after a shorter period of time D1 (e.g. 5 minutes ) switched off, ie a time interval D1 is started, which causes the shutdown at its end if an output signal is not previously detected which shows the presence of people. If, however, only the smaller threshold S1 was exceeded during the last signal acquisition (time T2), the lighting is only switched off after a longer period D2 (e.g. 15 minutes), i.e. a corresponding time interval is started. With this method it is possible to select the first threshold value S1 very close to the noise limit of the PIR sensor.
It is also advantageous to measure the noise level and to measure the first threshold S1 e.g. to be set to twice the noise level. Because the noise level is directly proportional to the temperature in the room and the room temperature in a non-air-conditioned room fluctuates during the day, the noise limit and thus the sensitivity of the PIR sensor will also fluctuate. By detecting the minimum of the sensor signal and thus the noise level, the first and also the second threshold value S1, S2 can be continuously adjusted. The noise level is preferably detected by the microprocessor, which detects the output signal of the PIR sensor via the A / D converter 7 separately from the threshold values.
The light sources are switched on and off not only as described depending on the presence or absence of a person, but also as a function of the illuminance in the room. If there is enough daylight in the room, it is of course not desirable for one person to switch on the lighting when entering the room. For this purpose, the light sensor 7 is provided, which in turn causes the light sources to be switched on and off by the microprocessor. This depends on levels for switching on the lighting when the illuminance in the room is too low or for switching off the lighting when the illuminance in the room is sufficient. When a person is present in the room, the light sources are switched on and off depending on the illuminance, i.e. Illuminance that is too low always forms a criterion for switching on the lighting without a time delay if a person is already present in the room or a person is entering the room (activation by logical AND link between the presence of persons and insufficient illuminance).
Sufficiently high illuminance from daylight leads to the lighting being switched off after a certain predetermined time delay. The time delay for switching off the artificial lighting due to sufficient daylight is independent of the switching off due to the absence of people, i.e. If both criteria are met, the first time delay leads to a shutdown (shutdown by logical OR link between absence of people and sufficient illuminance).
Fig. 3 shows the course of the illuminance in percent based on the value of the installed artificial illuminance, i.e. the light sources (= 100%) depending on the additional daylight, e.g. the level for switching off the lighting is set to 300% and the level for switching on the lighting to 125%, which is the level for the signal measured by the light sensor. If the presence of people in the room is assumed with the evaluation of the signals of the PIR sensor, the lighting is only switched on and off as a function of the daylight measured on the light sensor, as can be seen in FIG. 3. With the example in FIG. 3, the switching hysteresis is 75% of the installed artificial illuminance. If there is too much daylight and the illuminance measured by the light sensor is 300%, the lighting is only switched off after a time delay (e.g. 3 minutes). The lighting is switched on immediately if there is not enough daylight, without any time delay, so that there is enough light in the room when people are present.
When the absence of people is accepted, the lighting is of course switched off. If a person now enters the room, the lighting is only switched on if the illuminance measured by the light sensor is below the threshold for switching on the lighting (e.g. 125%).
Dieser Zwangsbetrieb dauert so lange, bis durch die Auswertung der Signale des PIR-Sensors A manual switch (12, Fig. 1) can be used to enable the lighting to be checked during the day and the lighting to be switched off when leaving the room without any time delay (D1 and D2). When this switch is switched, the information is forwarded to the evaluation device 1 to switch on the lighting when it is switched off or to switch it off when it is switched on. This gives the user an impression that he is operating an ordinary light switch. The evaluation device is programmed in such a way that, after actuation of the manual switch 12, it enters a so-called forced operation in which the signals from the light sensor are no longer taken into account. This forced operation lasts until the signals from the PIR sensor are evaluated
