Abstract

To enable square or rectangular plastics floor tiles to be placed in position or removed, sets of e.g. four tiles (2,3) are supported by base plates (1) to form a floor covering. Each base plate has a peripheral vertical flange combined with inner flanges, forming four pockets for the four tiles. The height (h) of all flanges is less than the tile thickness. Projecting from one side, at low level, is a rounded rib (I'v) which fits into a correspondingly shaped recess (I'v) along one side of an adjacent tile to ensure a liquid tight seal.
