Abstract
The device disclosed is designed to produce a hot-bonded joint between cardboard and transparent foil, with a nozzle for applying hot liquid adhesive to the bond line. The nozzle (DK) is located at a relatively short distance from a roller press (RP) which presses the overlapping edges of the strip of cardboard (Kb) and the strip of transparent foil (Tf) together. The nozzle (DK) is disposed so that the liquid adhesive is applied directly to the transparent foil with the cardboard and foil strips moving at a relatively high speed in order to avoid the transparent foil being damaged by the liquid adhesive being at too high a temperature.
Description
The present invention relates to a device for producing a hotmelt seam between a carton and a transparent film according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Devices are known which have a nozzle head for attaching an adhesive strip to an edge of a cardboard, onto which an edge of a transparent film is subsequently pressed, in order to use it for an adhesive bond, also called a hot-melt seam, between the cardboard and the transparent film, in particular for the production of pencil cases , to create. The adhesive strip is a so-called "hot glue" or PS glue, which works at approx. 150 to 170 degrees Celsius. With such devices, it is important not to damage the transparent film, since it can withstand temperatures up to only 90 degrees Celsius. For this reason, the adhesive strip according to the prior art is regularly placed on the cardboard, which can withstand much higher temperatures.
In the devices mentioned at the outset, the problem now arises of producing a hotmelt seam between a cardboard box and a transparent film, which results in a more solid adhesive bond.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a device with the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
The invention is explained in more detail below, for example, using a drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of an inventive device, and
Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of the hot glue seam between a transparent film and a box.
The device according to FIG. 1 has a supply roll VRT and VRK for the transparent film T (FIG. 2) and for the carton K. To simplify the drawing, the axes of the supply rolls VRT and VRK, which can be held by a common carrier TR, are shown running in parallel in FIG. 1. For the purpose of the invention, however, they can easily be arranged at an angle or perpendicular to one another. The device is provided with a mechanism for causing the transparent film web Tf to run a small distance above the cardboard web Kb from a certain point. For this purpose, the transparent film web Tf is guided with the aid of rollers R1, R2, R3 and R4 in such a way that it actually runs from the roller R4 only a small distance above the cardboard web Kb.
The cardboard web Kb preferably first passes over a creasing station VS, which in the case of FIG. 1 is schematically indicated, for example, by three creasing roller pairs which are used to produce grooves RL1 and RL2 (FIG. 2), which facilitate the subsequent folding of the cardboard edge. Such creasing stations are known per se and are therefore not described in detail.
Although the axes of the supply rolls VRT and VRK are shown in parallel, the actual supply rolls VRT and VRK are in a displaced position relative to one another, so that they only overlap in a relatively narrow edge, where they are sealed together. In the area of the roller R3 is the mouth of a nozzle head DK connected to a container BK for a hot liquid adhesive, with the aid of which a hot glue or adhesive strip KB (FIG. 2) is applied to the transparent film web Tf, on the side of the Transparent film T which is later to come into contact with the cardboard web Kb, that is to say preferably outside of the grooves RL1, RL2 shown in FIG. 2.
The distance between the rollers R3 and R4 is relatively small and the speed of the film webs is chosen to be relatively high, so that the transparent film T is not damaged by the high temperature of the hot glue or PS glue, which is around 150 in the case of the adhesives customary today is up to 170 degrees Celsius, these temperature limits are not very relevant for the purpose of the invention. In the device according to the invention, a roller press RP is also provided relatively close to the roller R4 in order to avoid damage to the transparent film T by quickly pressing the two webs together.
The device according to FIG. 1 also preferably comprises a mechanism WM arranged after the roller press RP, which mechanism is provided in order to insert a further hotmelt strip HS into the area between the two parallel grooves RL1 and RL2 and optionally also around these grooves (FIG. 2) apply, also a cut-off mechanism SM to subsequently cut the web already provided with a sealing seam in the desired lengths, and a mechanism FM for folding the already folded pencil case, while the hot glue seam KB, also called adhesive strip, is still warm. The mechanisms WM and SM can be integrated in one and the same unit.
The invention surprisingly found that the transparent film T, for example a so-called PVC film or an acetate film or a film made of polypropylene or polyester, can withstand the high temperatures mentioned much better than expected and that the seal between the transparent film T and the cardboard Kb is much more solid than the pencil cases made using other known devices.
