Abstract

Tubeless tyres sitting in the wheel rim are fitted with two flexible hoses of rubber or plastic material, held by adhesive tape and able to withstand an internal and external pressure of 6 bar. Radial spikes are normally retracted inside the tyre by springs. In case of ice on the road, an internal hose is inflated to push the spikes outside. ADVANTAGE - This prevents unnecessary damage to the road surface.

   BESCHREIBUNG

   DESCRIPTION

This mobile version has the great advantage over immobile spikes in that the streets are not unnecessarily stressed by spikes.

In the retracted state, you can drive on the motorways in Switzerland and abroad, even if spikes are prohibited, but the spikes are available at all times in the event of snow or black ice. The braking distances with the spikes retracted also correspond to the normal braking values of the tires without spikes.

FIG. 1 shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, which is explained in the following:
The car tire 2 in the rim 1 is provided on both sides with a flexible tube 6. These flexible tubes 6 can be installed during tire manufacture or subsequently by means of a holding strap 3 and must be able to withstand external and internal pressures of approximately 6 bar. The radially installed spikes 8 are moved from each flexible tube 6. If pressure is generated in the flexible tube 6 by air, other gases or by liquid, the spikes 8 are moved out by an operative connection. When the pressure is released, the spikes 8 sink under the tread 4 of the tire 2. The spikes 8 are normally pulled under the tread 4. This can be achieved by installing springs 7 or magnetically or by vacuum.

The pressure in the flexible tube 6 can be generated by an inflatable tube 5. If the flexible tube 6 is installed in an airtight manner, the pressure can also be generated without a hose 5.

The flexible tubes 6 can be made of reinforced rubber or plastic. The spikes 8 can be made of metal or plastic. The spikes 8 are slidably guided in guide sleeves 9.

The tire itself can be inflated with an ordinary tube or with an airtight version it can also be inflated tubeless.

In an emergency, the pressure for the flexible tube to extend the spikes can be tapped from the tire pressure on the way and the tire pressure can be pumped up again at the next gas station or can also be achieved with a portable small compressor with a power connection in the cigar lighter or from portable air pressure bottles. This pressure in the flexible tube and in the tire varies and is given for each type of tire.

In the case of an expansion with electronic control, the spikes can also be remotely controlled from the inside of the car and the remote control can also be operated automatically by connecting to an on-board computer if there is insufficient braking resistance.
