BESCHREIBUNG
New Generation of High Speed Laminators go into Production , ein Bericht über die Anlage der Convertma GmbH in Int. Paper Board Ind. Heft Juli 83).
Fig. 1 eine erfindungsgemässe Saugwalze, als Wendewalze im Kaschierwerk verwendet, im Querschnitt;
Fig. 2 die rechtsseitige Lagerung der Saugwalze im Schnitt;
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a suction roller for conveying web or sheet material, in particular open mesh. Single corrugated cardboard, and on a device with such a suction roller, for laminating a simple corrugated cardboard to a double corrugated cardboard. The cross section of the suction roll is divided into at least three sectors, at least two of which are connected and evacuated with an independently acting vacuum generator. The sectors under vacuum extend together over a quarter or, when the suction roll is used as a deflection roll, over about half the circumference of the suction jacket. There are rows of holes on the circumference of the suction roll within the sectors. whereby after each row of holes sealing strips are arranged, which sit in axially parallel grooves in the outer surface of the suction jacket.
In the device for laminating a single corrugated cardboard to a double corrugated cardboard, further rollers for the glue application and the transfer of cover sheets are arranged axially parallel to the suction roller, with the aid of synchronous mechanisms controlling the sheet feed so that the beginning of a sheet or a sheet of single corrugated cardboard is always occurs on a sealing strip.
Corrugated cardboard has been known as a composite product made of paper and cardboard since the second half of the last century and is an important packaging material due to its cushioning properties and certain rigidity. It is produced in various ways by corrugation and by gluing corrugated sheets with smooth ceilings. A distinction is made between single, double and double-double corrugated cardboard, depending on whether corrugated paper webs are combined with one or more smooth paper webs as blankets. It follows that each corrugated cardboard has at least one single corrugated cardboard which, depending on the addition, can be completed with a blanket and a second single corrugated cardboard to form double and double-double corrugated cardboard.
Double corrugated cardboard is used in large quantities for containers of consumer goods, with frequently printed blankets being desired. The blanket is applied to the single corrugated cardboard in the laminating system. This is where the endless web or synchro-controlled cross cutters, trimmed to the desired arc length, single corrugated cardboard sheets, with corrugated crowns go up, where they are glued on the gluing unit and then connected to the cover sheet. Until recently, according to the state of the art, the corrugations of the corrugated cardboard had only been aligned parallel to the direction of conveyance. The transport of the single corrugated cardboard was carried out by a suction belt.
Depending on the type of corrugated cardboard, the system for the continuous production is very space-consuming. In this way, the complete machine chains reach a length of 100 m. Water glass solutions, starch and dispersion adhesives are used as adhesives.
As recently reported, the change in grooving leads to a reduction of the adhesive by 20 to 25% and a loss in the quality of the connection (see New Generation of High Speed Laminators go into Production, a report on the Convertma GmbH system in Int.Paper Board Ind. Issue July 83).
Although the cited report speaks about high-speed laminating machines, the performance of the system is limited by the running speed of the suction belts. The band resp. Transport speed or suction belts is not least limited by the positional accuracy of the goods being transported. Further disadvantages of the suction belt conveyors are that they can only be protected against soiling during operation to a limited extent and are poorly accessible for cleaning and maintenance.
The advantages achieved by the invention defined in the claims are essentially to be seen in the fact that the suction roll as a rotary component for high conveying speeds for mechanically and electronically synchronized coupling of feeding machines and cross cutters etc.
is particularly suitable. In addition, a suction roller is space-saving and particularly suitable as a rotating element, depending on the application, to serve instead of so-called turning stations for layered production lines at the same time. Due to the significantly reduced dimensions compared to the suction belts, as is due to the nature, it is unaffected by dirt. Overall, the suction roll is characterized by a long service life. In addition, the sectoral subdivision, as well as the band-shaped, axially parallel arrangement of the sealing strips - which are particularly suitable for nestling the troughs of the single corrugated cardboard - ensure that the goods to be transported are securely and precisely held in place during movement across the evacuated areas of the roller circumference.
If the suction roller is used in corrugated cardboard lamination systems, the centrifugal force acting on the circumference of the roller prevents excessive glue accumulation in the wave troughs by the amount of glue applied collecting on the wave crowns. This characteristic of the suction roller enables extremely economical glue application, even with low viscosity glues, thus reducing the weight of corrugated cardboard and saving processing material without reducing quality. Finally, thanks to a good seal and the adjustment of the vacuum in the chamber as well as the reduced number of bearings, it is possible to increase the volumetric and mechanical efficiency of the suction roll, which is reasonably able to reduce energy consumption and thus operating costs.
The state of the art of suction rolls may be supplemented by the fact that so-called screen rolls have been known in paper production for some time. These are used for leaf formation and drainage. The roller is divided into cells by installing suction boxes. However, the size of the screen roller under vacuum is less than 90 "(cf. Luger Lexikon der Technik, Rowohlt Verlag, Vol. 33, p. 699).
In addition, so-called rolling suction cups, which are used for rotating separation of layers, as well as suction rolls, which are combined with a roll for separating and folding, as well as circular pile feeders and the like are known in printing presses (see Taschenbuch Maschinenbau, Vol.3m VEB Verlag Technik Berlin, p.515 and 516). These rotating suction cups as well as the suction rolls likewise have an extremely limited suction area on their circumference and are each connected to a single vacuum generator.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of a drawing which shows only one embodiment. It shows
1 shows a suction roll according to the invention, used as a reversing roll in the laminating unit, in cross section;
Figure 2 shows the right-hand storage of the suction roll in section.
Fig. 3 shows the left-hand storage of the suction roll in section.
The suction roller shown in Fig. 1 for the transport of ribbon or sheet material essentially consists of a standing axle tube 1, on the outer circumference of which four sealing strips 3 'to 31V and guide tubes 2 to 41v are arranged, which are embedded in guide elements 2' to 2'v. 2 and 3, the suction jacket 5 is coaxially rotatably supported around the axis tube 1, bores 7 being arranged in rows on the circumference of the suction jacket 5 and around this sealing strip 8. The intermediate space formed by the axle tube 1 and the suction jacket 5 is divided into sectors 11 to 13 by the sealing strips 3 and their guide element 2, a suction line 21, 22, 23 leading parallel to the sectors opening into the sectors 11 to 13.
The axle tube 1 is screwed at its two ends according to FIGS. 2 and 3, each with a pin 1 'and 1 ", a sealing ring 9' and 9" being centered, supported and supported by the pins 1 'and 1 "at the same time 2 is pressed against the abutting end of the sealing strips 3. In this way, the end faces of the sectors 11 to 13 are sealed, as the name of the axis tube 1 indicates, the axis tube is a standing component which 2 is supported at its right end via pin 1 ', bearing 6 ", coupling 5' and bearing 6 'in the machine stand 10', while the left end according to FIG. 3 is supported by the pin 1" inserted in the machine stand 10 " "supported resp. is clamped in a manner not shown and secured against rotation.
3, to and into the axle tube, and the left-hand end of the suction roller can be used for the supply of compressed air 30 for pressing the sealing strips 3 against the Inner surface of the suction jacket 5, through the expanding hoses 4, can be used. The suction jacket 5 is mounted via the bearings 6 'and 6 "' according to FIGS. 2 and 3, it being advantageous, in order to facilitate assembly, to design the bearing 6 'as a self-aligning bearing. The drive of the suction roller, ie the Suction jacket 5 is only indicated in FIG. 2 insofar as it can be seen there that any drives can be connected to the free end of the coupling piece 5 '.
1 finally shows the use of the suction roller as a central element of a corrugated cardboard laminating station, the suction roller also serving as a deflecting roller by turning the production flow 1800 as follows: The single corrugated cardboard sheets 40 to be laminated are directed upwards with corrugated crowns supplied to a synchronous dosing device in such a way that the beginning of the sheet 40 rests on the sealing strip 8 ". The negative pressure prevailing in the suction sector 11, which is filled up for the bore 7" by the inflow of outside air, leaves the sheet 40 on the suction jacket 5 concern immediately.
The rotation of the suction jacket 5 counterclockwise has the consequence that the sheet is transported to the next suction sector 12, where the crowns of the sheets are wetted with glue by the glue application roller 41.
In the meantime, the cover sheet is brought up to the stop of the pawl 44 by the acceleration rollers 43 'and 43 "until the sheet 40 selectively wetted by glue reaches the pawl 44 through the sector 13. The pawl 44 is rocked downwards by a synchronous mechanism, not shown through the acceleration rollers 43 'and 43 "the cover sheet is pushed into the area of the transfer roller 45, from where the single corrugated cardboard side of the sheet 40, which is already united by the glue with the cover sheet 42, is released by crossing the suction sector 13 . The stiffer double corrugated cardboard produced in this way continues its path tangential to the suction roll and reaches the next conveyor unit, which is indicated in the form of the roller pair 46.
