Fig. 6 ein Kupplungsglied mit radialer Verdrehsicherung,
Fig. 7/8 eine Aufsicht auf einen Gelenkunterteil.

The present invention relates to an overload protection device for a roller shutter, blind or awning drive to limit the torque that can be transmitted from the drive to the roller according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Roller shutters and blinds can freeze in the support area with the windowsill due to freezing condensation or condensation. When pulling up, there is a risk of damaging the roller shutters or the blind due to excessive pulling force of the roller, which is driven by a motor or an articulated crank. This can be remedied by installing an overload safety device that limits the torque to the roller.
Such an overload protection is known and consists of a first tubular plastic sleeve that can be connected to the articulated crank rod, on the inner lateral surface of which axially extending grooves are provided, and a second sleeve that can be inserted into the first and has axially extending slots. Internally hardened rollers are inserted into the slots, which are dimensioned such that they protrude beyond the outer jacket of the sleeve and engage in the grooves of the outer sleeve and establish a connection therewith. A rubber cylinder inserted into the bore of the inner sleeve holds the hardened rollers resiliently in the slots, so that they can retreat in the event of an overload and release the connection between the two sleeves.
With fuses of this type, the torque to be transmitted cannot be subsequently adjusted to the external circumstances and it changes depending on the temperature due to the expansion of the sleeves and the change in the strength of the sleeves and the rubber, as well as due to wear.
Furthermore, torques of different sizes cannot be specified in the two directions of rotation with the known fuse.
Another disadvantage is the large amount of noise generated by the fuse in residential properties. The objects of the invention are to provide an overload protection device which does not suffer from the disadvantages of the known ones and which can be installed in conventional drives for roller shutters, blinds and awnings without having to operate a great technical and financial outlay.
According to the invention, these objects are achieved according to the characterizing features of claim 1.
Surprisingly, the use of disc-shaped coupling members toothed on the face side enables an inexpensive overload protection device that can be installed in existing elements and is temperature-independent and transmits an exactly definable torque.
Further advantageous embodiments are described in the dependent claims.
Advantageously, the coupling members and the spring for compressing the same can be integrated into the sleeve on the articulated rod and into the articulated lower part thanks to the small structural dimensions.
By changing the thickness of the tensioning disc, the tension of the spring and thus the torque to be transmitted for the safety device can be adapted to the circumstances or to the size and weight of the roller shutter or the store. The same fuse can be used for all applications, both in front of the universal joint and after it or inside the roller.
Thanks to the use of unequal flank angles on the teeth of the coupling links, a higher torque can be set for pulling up than for lowering before one or the other process is interrupted due to the permissible value being exceeded.
The double-sided toothing of the coupling links allows the assembly staff to change from a left-hand to a right-hand gear or even vice versa on site.
The asymmetrical division of the teeth reduces wear, because the teeth can only mesh after a full, half, third or any other fractional revolution, but otherwise they slide on the generously dimensioned tip surfaces and as a result very much
generate low noise with low frequency. The anti-rotation teeth on the coupling links, directed towards the center, allow tool-free assembly and the right or left-hand gearboxes can be used as required.
With sintered metals as the material for the coupling links, wear is reduced to a minimum and inexpensive manufacture is possible without machining.
The invention is explained in more detail on the basis of illustrated exemplary embodiments. Show it:
1 is an axial longitudinal section through an overload protection built into the lower joint part,
2 a disc-shaped coupling member, on the toothing side,
3 shows the coupling member corresponding to the coupling member of FIG. 2,
4 shows a section along line IV-IV in FIG. 3,
5 shows a further section, but a double-sided toothing,
6 is a coupling member with radial anti-rotation,
Fig. 7/8 a top view of a lower joint part.
In the lower joint part 1 of a universal joint 3 inserted between an articulated rod 2 and a gear (not shown), a first coupling member 4 in the form of an annular disk is mounted in a rotationally fixed manner. A shaft end 5 extends coaxially through the coupling member 4 into a sleeve 6, into which the articulated rod 2 can be inserted.
Connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the sleeve 6 and axially supported on a shoulder 7, a second coupling member 8 is seated and lies with its end face 9 on the end face 10 of the first coupling member 4. On the end 11 of the shaft stub 5, a clamping disk 13 with a screw 12 is attached the shaft stub 5 receiving recess 14 attached.
The clamping disc 13 fits with little play in the bore 15 of the sleeve 6 and holds a coil spring 16, which rests on the paragraph 7, tensioned. The two end faces 9 and 10 of the coupling members 4 and 8 are pressed against one another by the axial force F of the helical spring 16 (FIG. 1).
The two end faces 9, 10 of the coupling members 4, 8 have an opposite toothing 17, through which a torque Ml can be transmitted without slippage (Figures 2/3). If the torque exceeds the value M 1 set by the spring force F, the coupling member 8, together with the sleeve 6, lifts off from the coupling member 4 and the toothings 17 slide on the tip circular surfaces 19 of the teeth 18, as a result of which the operative connection between the input and the output is interrupted until the output-side torque falls below the value Ml again.
The teeth 18 are preferably provided with different flank angles a and ss in order to be able to transmit torques Ml or Mol * of different magnitudes depending on the direction of rotation.
A non-constant tooth pitch proves to be very favorable, because mutual engagement is only possible after a full, half, etc. turn, but the teeth 18 slide in between on their tip circular surfaces 19, instead of engaging and then reaching out again for each tooth 18.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 5, toothings 17 are attached to the coupling members 4, 8 on both sides so that the coupling members 4, 8, when inserted upside down in the lower joint part 1 or in the sleeve 6, act in reverse and the values of the torques Ml and Ml * are interchanged. This may be necessary if the drive on the construction site has to be moved from the right to the left side of the roller shutter.
In the case of coupling members 4, 8 with single-sided toothing 17, the connection to the lower joint part 1 or to the sleeve 6 can be made by means of one or more axially projecting cams 20 attached to the toothless side, which engage in a slot 21 in the lower joint part 1 or the sleeve 6 grab (Figure 7).
In both types of coupling members 4, left, a radial connection proves to be favorable. For this purpose, the coupling members 4. 8 are provided on the inside with, for example, trapezoidal toothing 22 directed towards the center, the lower joint part 1 or the sleeve 6 with a corresponding star-shaped toothing 23 (FIGS. 6/8).
To increase the maximum transmissible torque, the toothing 17 can be arranged in a conical surface instead of in a plane lying perpendicular to the axis of rotation A of the coupling members 4, 8 (bevel gear-shaped, without illustration).
The value of the torque M i: or.
Mol * can be determined or changed either by the property of the spring 16 used, by the thickness d of the tensioning disk 13 or by the angles a and ss ru. Sintered metals are suitable as the material for the coupling members 4, 8. The remaining parts consist of the materials that have been tried and tested in the construction of roller shutters. It goes without saying that the securing device according to the invention can be fitted not only in the lower joint part 1 of the universal joint 3, but also on the upper joint part 24, which usually comes to rest in the lintel niche or the lintel board. The fuse can also be installed coaxially to or in the roller of the roller shutter or manufactured as an independent unit regardless of the place of use.
