Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht eines Schalters, zum Teil im Schnitt,

The invention relates to a push-button switch according to the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to methods for producing push-button switches according to the preambles of claims 9 and 10.
Such pushbutton switches, hereinafter referred to briefly as switches, are known from DE-OS 3 032 557 and have been used in particular for input keyboards on data processing devices. The switches are actuated there by the finger of an operator, the actuating force being applied via a spring element to a dome-shaped, i.e. cone-shaped membrane is transferred. The tilt-over spring characteristic of the diaphragm together with the upstream spring element is sufficient for the operator
To signal switching through and at the same time to run through an additional path when tipping, which ensures the necessary contact pressure at the contacts.
If such a switch is to be actuated by any slowly and evenly moving element, as can be the case, for example, when the switches are used as limit switches, the necessary contact pressure after switching is not guaranteed in the known switch.
The invention is based on the object, starting from the small-volume structure of known switches, to provide a switch which can be produced with little effort and is also suitable for slow mechanical actuation and can be installed, for example, in a printed circuit board.
The invention achieves the object according to the characterizing features of claims 1, 9 and 10.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.
Show it:
1 is a side view of a switch, partly in section,
Fig. 2 is a plan view with parts partially removed and
Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the bending curve of wires to an assembly straps.
In the figures, 1 denotes a housing which can advantageously be produced from plastic by spraying technology. In the housing 1 sits at the base 2 of a central bore 3, a rubber-elastic, dome-shaped membrane having a tilting effect, which is inserted with a circular bead 5 on its outer circumference in a correspondingly shaped annular groove 6 of the housing 1 and firmly stuck there. The membrane 4 has a contact piece 7 made of electrically conductive silicone rubber on a lower flat surface in FIG. 1.
The contact piece 7 and the membrane 4 are connected to one another by vulcanization. Two fixed contacts 8 and 9 are arranged opposite the contact piece 7. They consist of two identically shaped pieces of wire, the ends 10, 11, 12, 13 of which protrude from the housing 1 form electrical connections. The wire pieces are inserted from the lower side in FIG. 1 into corresponding recesses 14, 15 of the housing 1 and there e.g. attached by gluing or ultrasonic upsetting. In the central part of the housing 1 there is an opening 16 between the bore 3 and the recesses 14 and 15 such that the contact piece 7 electrically connects the wire pieces serving as fixed contacts 8, 9 when the diaphragm 4 is tilted.
An elastic plunger 17 is formed on the actuating side of the diaphragm 4, the spring property of which results from the elasticity of the material from which the diaphragm 4 and the plunger 17 are made, the spring constant of the plunger 17 being smaller than the spring constant of the diaphragm 4 itself before tipping over. For this purpose, the plunger 17 is designed as a cylindrical pin. Its longitudinal axis is identical to the axis of rotation of the membrane 4 and its length / diameter ratio is at least 4 1.
The bore 3, on the bottom 2 of which the membrane 4 sits,
serves as a longitudinal guide for a pusher 18 which actuates the membrane 4 via the plunger 17. For this purpose, the pusher 18 has a central bore 19 into which the plunger 17 penetrates and rests with its outer end on the base of the bore 19. There, the plunger 17 is guided without play in the bore 19, while it has increasing play over its free length compared to the bore 19 with a decreasing distance from the diaphragm 4. The outer part of the push button 18 has a central elevation 20, on which a force for the longitudinal movement of the push button 18 and thus for actuating the switch can act. In the example described, this is done via a lever 21 which is pivotably mounted in a bearing 22 formed on the housing 1 and is supported on the elevation 20, the free arm of the lever 21 serving to actuate the switch.
The pusher 18 also acts as a cover against coarse dirt. It can also be omitted, the lever 21 then being supported directly on the plunger 17. Dirt particles penetrating up to the membrane 4 do not interfere, because the membrane 4 itself prevents further penetration up to the contact points.
So that when using the pusher 18 an air exchange can take place when the pusher 18 is actuated, it is expedient if the pusher 18 has longitudinal ribs 23 on its circumference, with which it is centered in the bore 3, and at the same time there is a risk of jamming of the Depressed.
Before the membrane 4 buckles when the switch is actuated, a relatively large actuating force must be applied thanks to its dome-shaped shape. This causes the initial actuation path of the pusher 18 to first deform the plunger 17 elastically and this forms an energy store. It is important that the spring constant of the plunger 17 is smaller than that of the membrane 4 before it tilts. The deformation of the plunger 17 increases its diameter, for which the play in the bore 19 is necessary. Before the tipping, there may be some remaining play to allow the plunger 17 to buckle to the side, which has a favorable effect on the life of the diaphragm 4, because the material stress on the diaphragm 4 is reduced if the plunger 17 can buckle slightly to the side.
After the diaphragm 4 has tilted over, the force counteracting the pusher 18 decreases, but still counteracts the force generated by the pusher 18. In order to generate the desired contact pressure, the push button 18 would have to follow the movement of the membrane 4. Because this is not the case with a rigid actuating element in which there is no caster after tipping, the energy stored in the plunger 17 is used to generate the necessary contact pressure. Thanks to the flat spring characteristic, the plunger 17 generates the necessary path and the required contact pressure without the pusher 18 executing a follow-up path.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the two fixed contacts 8 and 9 have unequal distances from the contact piece 7 when the switch is in the idle state. This has the effect of increasing the contact closing speed by first contacting the contact piece 7 on the fixed contact 9, pivoting there increasing the speed of movement of the contact piece 7 to the fixed contact 8 and thus increasing the final speed immediately before the contact connection is closed. The flexing work occurring in the contact piece 7 also promotes the safety of contacting the fixed contacts 8, 9 and reduces bouncing.
For fastening the switch in a holder 24, e.g. in a printed circuit board, this requires a bore 25 in which the switch is held by spring arms 26 molded onto the housing 1. In addition to the spring arms 26, the switch is supported on two resilient lugs 27 and 28 which compensate for differences in thickness of the holders 24.
The switch is suitable for automated assembly.
For this purpose, a method is expedient in which, on two identical wires 29, 30 (FIG. 3) of any length for the fixed contacts 8, 9, bends 31 and 32 are formed at a uniform distance and in parallel wires 29, 30 over the pairs aligned bends 32, 32 a housing 1 and all parts of the switch are mounted. This creates a strap 33 of contiguous switches. (The housings 1 are indicated by broken lines in FIG. 3 as rectangles.) In this state, each switch is also subjected to an electrical functional test, which is advantageous in that because e.g. the strap end can be used as an electrical lead for all switches. A separation of the wires 29, 30 between the switches then gives rise to the free ends 10, 11, 12, 13 for the connections of the individual switches.
Instead of being made of wire, the fixed contacts 8, 9 and their ends 10, 11, 12, 13 can also be made of strip material (strip). The fixed contacts 8, 9 and their ends 10, 11, 12, 13 then have a rectangular cross section. In this embodiment it is useful to have the fixed contacts 8, 9 and the ends 10, 11, 12, 13 e.g. by cutting from the tape so that the outermost part of each end remains connected to the tape for the time being. This also creates a belt in which the switch can be installed as described above. Only then are the ends 10, 11, 12, 13 cut free from the tape.
The longitudinal direction of the ends 10, 11, 12, 13 can be arranged in the belt as desired, but advantageously parallel to the longitudinal direction of the belt.
Instead of cutting the switches out of the straps after they have been assembled, the switches can also be used in a belted manner, as is known, for example, with electrical resistors, i.e. come on the market. The user of the switches then has the option of directing the switch belts to an automated assembly process for a product requiring such a switch.
The switch described has a simple structure and is suitable for automated assembly. It is therefore inexpensive to manufacture.
