- la fig. 1 est une vue schématique d'ensemble en perspective d'un robot selon l'invention en position de travail;

CLAIMS
1. Industrial robot, characterized in that it comprises a support frame (10), a vertical shaft (11) mounted rotating on the frame, means (12) for driving the shaft in rotation, acting on it Ci in its upper part, a horizontal arm (13) rigidly fixed in its center to the lower end of the shaft, two tools (14, 15) for gripping objects, carried by the arm and capable of moving the along the latter, and means (21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28) for controlling the movement of the tools.
2. Robot according to claim 1, characterized in that the arm carries guides (19, 24) on which the two tools are slidably mounted.
3. Robot according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the means for controlling the movement of each tool comprise a belt (21, 26) to which the tool is attached, two pulleys (22, 27) connected by the belt and a motor (23, 28) whose shaft is coupled to one of the pulleys.
4. Robot according to one of claims I to 3, characterized in that each tool comprises a gripping member (29) constituted by a tube capable of gripping objects by suction.
The present invention relates to industrial robots. It relates, more particularly, to a robot intended to take objects from a given location, transport them to another given location and deposit them there. This kind of robot is often called a palletizing robot or, using English terminology, a pick and place robot.
The invention applies very particularly, although not exclusively, to the handling of light parts and of small dimensions. For such an application, speed of execution is the major advantage of a robot.
The purpose of the present invention is precisely to provide a palletizing robot or pick and place very well suited to this requirement of speed.
To achieve this object, the robot according to the invention comprises a support frame, a vertical shaft, means for driving this shaft in rotation, which act on the latter at its upper part, a horizontal arm rigidly fixed in its center. at the lower end of the shaft, two tools for gripping objects carried by the arm and capable of moving along the latter, and means for controlling the movement of the tools.
Certainly, patent application EP No. 12741 describes a robot comprising two tools capable of moving along a horizontal arm which can itself be moved in two directions, one horizontal, the other vertical. is, on the other hand, incapable of turning on itself.
However, it is precisely the use of a rotating arm provided with two sliding tools which allows the robot according to the invention to very significantly reduce the time which elapses between two successive catches of objects since the tool which does not work can be, at the end of the work phase of the other, brought to, if not very close to, his future working position This robot can thus carry out the palletization of objects at a very high rate, which is incapable of robot described in the EP application above.
The characteristics of the invention, as well as its advantages, will emerge from the description which follows made with reference to the appended drawings and giving, by way of explanation but in no way limiting, an advantageous embodiment of such a robot.
In these drawings:
- fig. 1 is an overall schematic perspective view of a robot according to the invention in the working position;
- fig. 2 is a top view in section of the robot arm, and
- fig. 3 is a side view in section of this same arm.
In fig. 1. 10 is shown a support frame consisting of a column 10a and a lOb bracket rigidly fixed by one end to the top of the loua column. The other end of the stem lOb carries a vertical shaft 1 1 that a motor 12 drives in rotation by its upper end.
A horizontal arm 13 is rigidly fixed by its center to the lower end of the rotating shaft 11. This arm, of which FIGS. 2 and 3 show the details, carries two gripping tools 14 and 15 which can slide along its respective sides 1 3a and 13b from one of its ends to the other.
The arm 13 is formed by two parallel plates 16 and 17 arranged one above the other and connected together by spacers 18. These support, on the side 13a of the arm, two guides 19 parallel to the arm axis, which are arranged vertically to one another and extend over the entire length of the latter. The tool 14 slides on these two guides by means of cylindrical ball bearings 20. To ensure the drive of the tool 14, the latter is attached to a belt 21 connecting two horizontal pulleys 22 mounted between the plates 16 and 17 at the respective ends of the arm. The axis of one of the pulleys is coupled to the shaft of a motor 23 carried by the plate 16, which thus makes it possible to control the movement of the tool 14 on the guides 19 along the side 13a of the arm.
Similarly, the spacers 18 support, on the side 13b of the arm, two other guides 24, parallel to the guides 19 and arranged vertically from one another. The tool 15 slides on these guides by means of two cylindrical ball bearings. To ensure the movement of the tool 15, it is attached to a belt 26 connecting two horizontal pulleys 27 mounted between the two plates 16 and 17. The axis of one of the pulleys is coupled to the shaft of a motor 28 carried by the plate 16 and disposed at the end of the arm opposite to that where the motor 23 is located.
The two gripping tools 14 and 15 are identical. Since they are not part of the invention, they will not be described in detail. It will be sufficient to indicate, by way of example, that the gripping member of these tools is constituted by a vertical tube 29 connected by flexible pipes (not shown) to a vacuum pump disposed in the support frame 10, which allows him to grasp the objects to be handled by suction. This tube can be moved vertically, for example using conventional pneumatic means (not shown).
The various movements and operations that the robot can perform are carried out under the orders of a computer according to techniques known in this field.
To describe the operation of the robot according to the invention, reference is again made to FIG. 1. In the application described here by way of example, the robot is used to take objects 30 which appear one by one at the end of a supply channel 31 and deposit these objects in the cells 32 d 'a box 33 which is automatically brought under the robot by a conveyor belt 34.
It will be imagined that the tool 14 is initially located, as shown in FIG. I, at one end of the arm 13 with its gripping tube 29 disposed vertically from the end of the supply channel 31 where the object 30 to be taken is located. The tube 29 begins by descending then towards the object 30, grasps it by suction then returns to the high position. Then, thanks to the combination of a rotation of the arm 13 around the shaft 11 under the action of the motor 12 with a sliding of the tool 14 on the guides 19 along the arm under the action of the motor 23, the tube 19 is brought to the vertical of the cell 32 where the object is to be deposited. The tube then descends towards this cell, releases the object there and rises to the high position.
During this time, the tool 15 can be brought towards the end of the arm opposite to that where the tool is located 14. Thus, at the moment when the tool 14 deposits its object, the tool 15 is already completely near the end of the supply channel 31, so that it suffices for a slight rotation of the arm 13 and / or a slight sliding of the tool 15 to bring its tube 19 vertically new object to be grasped 30. A new operation for picking up and placing an object by the tool 15, identical to that previously described for the tool 14, can then
take place and this operation brings the tool 14 to a location very close to the end of the supply channel 31 for a new sampling and positioning cycle.
Naturally, the robot can also operate by using not one, but several channels for supplying different objects.
Thus, thanks to the use of a rotating arm fitted with two sliding tools, it is possible not only to cover all the positions where objects must be placed, but also and above all to very significantly reduce the time which elapses between two successive catches of objects since the tool which does not work can be, at the end of the working phase of the other, brought very close to its future working position. The robot according to the invention can thus carry out the palletizing of objects at a very high rate.
If it is necessary to place the objects in their cells with a well-defined orientation, the tools can be equipped with a system allowing rotation of the gripping tube. In addition, other tool drive systems can be envisaged.
For example, the two tools could be attached to the same strap and move symmetrically about the center of the arm. Their training, itself, could also be carried out using a rack.
