PATENTANSPRÜCHE

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Closing device on a pressure cooker with a pivotable lid, it is effective between the pressure vessel and the lid and contains a closure flap under a pressure vessel-fixed part, characterized in that with the closure flap (5) a latch part (15) provided with a nose (16) is rigidly connected, the nose (16) is intended to cooperate with a pressure vessel-fixed holder (7), the holder (7) having an undercut catch stop (8), which merges into an opening (13) opening upwards, for receiving the nose ( 16), the position of which is selected so that when the nose (16) rests against the catch stop (8), the cover (2) only allows one partial opening, which allows any overpressure to be blown out of the pressure vessel interior.

4. Locking device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that a protective plate (10) projecting over the bolt (15) is provided on the cover (2).
The invention relates to a closing device on a pressure cooker with a pivotable lid, it is effective between the pressure vessel and the lid and contains a closure flap which engages under a pressure vessel-fixed part.
Such a steam pressure cooker is known for example from CH-PS 440 612. Although this construction has proven itself, certain improper manipulations can result in the cover being opened if there is still a residual excess pressure inside the pressure vessel, which can lead to accidents.
The object to be achieved by the invention is to improve the closing device for pressure cookers of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the lid cannot open freely when a residual internal pressure is still present, but can only be fully opened after a residual pressure has been blown off the inside of the pressure vessel.
The invention with which this object is achieved results from the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
As a result, the lid must assume a catch position during the opening process, in which it is lifted so far from the pressure vessel that any excess pressure can escape in the gap between the pressure vessel and the lid. This device can also be retrofitted to existing pressure cookers of the type mentioned at the outset.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown. Show it:
1 is a schematic representation of the locking device on a pressure cooker with a pivoting lid,
2 shows a vertical section through the locking device in the closed position,
3 shows a section through the closing device in the catch position of the cover,
Fig. 4 is a vertical section through the locking device in the unlocked position.
A pressure cooker of a type known per se is provided with a cover 2 which can be pivoted about a horizontal axis located at the rear. The pressure vessel 1 is used to hold food to be cooked. By steam supply or heating as a result of the overpressure in the interior of the pressure vessel, the food contained therein is boiled quickly. An all-round elastic cover seal 4 is provided for sealing between the cover 2 and the flat top 3 of the pressure vessel.
Such pressure cookers are mainly used in commercial companies. Due to their size, considerable pressure is exerted on the inner surface of the lid during the cooking process. Before opening the lid, a steam outlet valve is opened. In order to reliably prevent the lid from opening when there is still a residual overpressure inside the pressure vessel, the securing means described in more detail below are present in order to prevent unintentional or improper opening of the lid when there is residual pressure.
On the front of the cover 2 there is a closure flap 5 which can be pivoted about a horizontal axis 9 and which engages under a rail 6 which is firmly connected to the pressure vessel. The horizontal axis 9 and the cover pivot axis run parallel. A holder 7 is rigidly connected to the rail 6 or another fixed part. This has an undercut catch stop 8 which merges into a recess 13 which opens upwards. In the lower part of this holder 7 there is an inclined surface 12 below the catch stop 8. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the holder 7 is provided on one vertical side with a recess in the form of a groove 13 that opens up and down.
A bolt 15 is rigidly connected to the movable closure flap 5. This contains a laterally projecting nose 16 of cylindrical shape. This nose 16 is intended to cooperate with the holder 7. A hand lever 17 is provided for actuating the closure flap 5, with which the pivoting movement of the closure flap 5 and thus of the bolt 15 can be effected.
The catch stop 8 is arranged together with the bolt 15 so that when the nose 16 rests against the catch stop 8, the cover 2 is lifted so far from the top of the pressure vessel that any excess pressure inside the pressure vessel can be reduced, since then between the Seal 4 and the top 3 of the pressure vessel creates a small gap. Only then can the nose 16 be pushed under the shoulder 18, so that it subsequently arrives in the upwardly opening groove 13 and then the lid can be pivoted up in the direction of arrow B, so that the interior of the pressure vessel is accessible. A mudguard 10 covering the bolt 15 is attached to the cover 2 as a splash guard.
The operation of this locking device is as follows: To close the pressure cooker, the lid 2 is pivoted downwards until the nose 16 of the latch 15 comes to rest on the horizontal surface 20. Then the flap 5 is pulled a little in the direction of arrow A (FIG. 2) with the aid of the hand lever 17, whereupon the nose 16 can be pushed downwards along the inclined surface 12 in the lower part of the groove 13. The cranked part 21 of the closure flap 5 then engages under the rail 6 and causes the cover to lock in the closed position. The pressure can then build up inside the pressure vessel. After the end of the cooking process, the pressure is shown by a not shown
Drain valve drained. Then the closure flap 5 is pulled and raised in the direction of arrow A with the aid of the hand lever 17, the nose 16 moving upwards along the inclined surface 12. The nose 16 then comes to rest on the undercut catch stop 8. In this catch position, the cover is partially raised and any residual pressure is blown off through the gap that forms between the seal 4 and the top 3 of the pressure vessel. This gap is preferably of the order of magnitude of 30-40 mm. Only then can the nose 16 be pushed under the downward extension 18 and then reaches the upwardly opening groove 13, whereupon the bolt 15 moves freely in the direction of arrow B and thus the lid 2 can be fully opened.
Since the catch stop 8 prevents an undesirable jumping on the cover under the influence of any residual pressure, an accident risk is eliminated, which can be caused by the cover swinging open suddenly or by liquid spilling out.
The holder 7 and the latch 15 can also be retrofitted to existing pressure cookers.
