Description
The present invention relates to a cassette filter for separating radioactive particles from the reactor cooling water in nuclear power plants with a filter housing for one or more filter cassettes connected to a cooling water circuit.
In nuclear power plants, chemical attack forms oxides or other substances on the surface of various construction elements, such as on the inner surface of the reactor vessel, in pipelines or on the surface of individual parts belonging to the reactor core. These separate from the individual machine elements, such as valves, pumps, etc. due to flow or wear in the form of very small particles.
Because the contaminants are formed in an environment with high radioactivity and circulate therein, the particulate material also contains radioactive isotopes. For example, a radioactive isotope Co 60 can form from an alloy substance such as Kobolt. This means that a filter that contains a large amount of deposited material is highly radioactive and that its handling poses particular problems due to the radiation that the filter material emits. The filters must be surrounded by radiation protection and an appropriate safety distance must be observed when replacing the filter material.
The present invention has for its object to provide a filter in which the exchange of the filter material can be carried out in a simple manner despite a high radiation level. The radiation level can exceed 1000 mrem / h in the immediate vicinity of the filter. This object is achieved with a cassette filter which has the features listed in independent claim 1. Further optional features are listed in dependent claims 2-11. A filter housing with an opening and a cover can be provided for one or more filter cassettes which contain a filter material which collects the contaminants, especially solid particles, present in the cooling water of the reactor.
According to these features, several filter cassettes can be attached, which can be connected in series or in parallel. It is also possible to combine several filter housings in a filter group, which in turn can either be connected in parallel or in series. In the filter cassettes, the filter material can be placed between sieves on the inlet or outlet side. A cassette can be designed with two concentric, annular slotted screens, between which there is an annular filter bed through which the water flows radially. The same can also be provided with sieves at its ends, the water flowing axially through the filter bed located between the sieves. The filter bed can be small pieces of wire.
The impurities are largely absorbed on the surface of the filter bed material. A filter cassette can be connected to the cover of the filter housing in such a way that the cassette (s) is / are raised together with the cover when the cover is lifted. The cover provides excellent radiation protection against upward radiation when attaching lifting devices and when transporting in radiation protection. To increase the contact force between the flange or extension in the filter housing and the cooperating ring that carries the cassette (s), between a spring assembly can be attached to the cover and the filter cassette.

plaziert ist, Fig. 2 zeigt das Herausnehmen von Filterkassetten, die Figuren 3 und 4 zeigen Filter in zwei verschiedenen Ausführungen, Fig. 5 zeigt in grösserem Massstab einen vertikalen Schnitt und Fig. 6 einen horizontalen Schnitt durch eine Filterkassette der in Fig. 3 gezeigten Art. 2 shows the removal of filter cassettes, FIGS. 3 and 4 show filters in two different versions, FIG. 5 shows a vertical section on a larger scale and FIG. 6 shows a horizontal section through a filter cassette of the one shown in FIG. 3 Art.
In the figures, 1 denotes a space formed from concrete walls 2 and a cover 3. The lid consists of an outer annular part 3a and an inner part 3b. In room 1 there is a filter unit 4. This unit contains a cylindrical filter housing 5 with a removable cover 6, which is fastened to the housing 5 with bolts 9. The filter housing is connected to the primary cooling water system of a reactor with an inlet line 7 and a return line 8. Since the filter unit 4 is connected to the primary cooling water system of the reactor, this unit must be dimensioned for the same pressure as the system, i.e. usually around 70 bar in a boiling water reactor. It may also be appropriate to adapt the unit to the steam temperature, which is approximately 300 ° C. Two filter cassettes 10 and 11 are mounted in the filter housing. The upper cassette 10 is connected to an inlet part 12 for controlling the direction of the water flow at the inlet of the cassette 10. The inlet part 12 is connected to the cover 6. When the cassettes 10 and 11 are removed, the concrete cover 3b is removed and a radiation protection 13, which is shown in FIG. 2, is fitted over an opening 14. A rod 15 is connected to the cover 6, after which the entire unit, which consists of the cover 6, the inlet part 12 and the cassettes 10 and 11, is lifted into the radiation protection 13. The cover 6 forms radiation protection against upward radiation. This radiation protection 13 with content is removed, the cassettes 10 and 11 and the inlet part 12 are separated, whereupon the cassettes 10 and 11 can be poured into concrete and deposited in a known manner.
As can be seen most clearly from FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, the upper part of the filter housing 5 has a larger diameter than the lower part. At the diameter transition, an extension 16 is formed, which is designed with an inclined surface 17 like a valve seat. The upper cassette 10 is provided with a ring 20 with a spherical surface 21 which cooperates with the inclined surface 17 of the shoulder 16 at the diameter transition of the housing 5. The surfaces 17 and 21 have direct contact, so that a seal is obtained between two metal surfaces. With this ring 20 and the cassette 10, the filter housing is divided into two rooms 22 and 23. The cassettes 10 and 11 are carried by this ring 20 and hang freely in the filter housing 5. Through this design of the interacting and mutually sealing surfaces 17 and 21, the filter cassettes 10 and 11 are automatically centered when inserted and a uniform, secure fit between the Surfaces and thus a secure, good seal even without sealing rings of any kind. If the acute angle of the conical surface 17 is reduced, the surface pressure can be increased to a level which is desirable for a good seal. The inlet line 7 opens into the upper space 22 and the return line 8 opens into the lower space 23. The upper cassette 10 contains a bushing 24 with flanges 25 and 26. The lower cassette 11 contains a bushing 27, a flange 25a and an annular one Bottom part 28. The inlet part 12 is provided with flanges 30 and 31. The cassettes 10 and 11 are connected to the flanges 26 and 25a and to the bolts 32. The inlet part 12 and the cassette 10 are connected to the flanges 24 and 30 and to the bolts 33. The inlet part 12 is connected to the cover 6 by the flange 31 and the bolts 34. The bolts 32 and 33 are welded into the flanges 25 and 25a, while the flanges 26 and 30 are provided with openings for the bolt heads and grooves for the bolt shank, the bolt heads are pushed in through the openings, whereupon the cassettes are rotated so that the Bolt shaft is pushed into the groove. The connection arrangements are thus of a bayonet type. Between the cover 6 and the flange 31, springs 29 are provided which press the entire cassette unit against the surface 17 with increasing force. The filter material 35 is placed between two annular, concentric sieves 36 and 37, between the disk 38 and the ring 40 and between the ring 41 and the bottom 28, respectively. As can be seen from FIGS. 5 and 6, the screens consist of rings 42 and 43 and spacer elements 44 and 45. These rings 42 and 43 and the spacer elements 44 and 45 are held together by bolts 46. The gap thickness is selected to be somewhat smaller than the grain size of the filter material 35. If cut wire pieces with a diameter of 0.4 mm and a length of 0.4 mm are used as filter material, spacer elements with a thickness of 0.2 mm are expediently used.
3, water flows from the inlet pipe 7 into the space 22 and from there into the inlet part 12, the space 47 and down into the gaps 48 and 50 between the tubes 24 and 27 and the sieves 36, radially through the filter mass 35 through and into the middle space 51, down into the space 23 and through the return line 8 out.
4, screens 55, 56, 57 and 58 are arranged in the cover 51 and 52 and in the base parts 53 and 54. Filter material 60 is placed in the spaces between the sieves. The cover 51 and the base 53 are connected to a socket 61, so that a gap 62 is formed between this socket 61 and the socket 24. The cover 52 and the bottom 54 are connected to the bushing 27 and the bushing 63, so that an annular space is formed for the filter material 60. The bushing 63 forms a central axial channel 64. The bottom 65 in the filter cassette 10 is provided with a tubular bushing 66 and the cover 52 is provided with a sleeve 67, whereby the cassettes 10 and 11 are connected to one another so that there is a connection between the space 68 in the cassette 10 and the channel 64 passing through the cassette 11.
Water flows partly through the sieve 55, axially through the filter mass 60 and the sieve 56 to the space 68 and from here through the channel 64 to the space 23. Another part of the water flows from the space 47 through the gap 62 down to the cassette 11 the sieve 57, the filter mass 60 and the sieve 58 to the space 23.
Filter cartridges with different shapes and different filter material than that shown in the exemplary embodiments can be used in the filter. For example, filter cartridges can be built as various types of flat filters.
