PATENTANSPRUCH

PATENT CLAIM
Apparatus for the production of biogas by bacterial, anaerobic fermentation of biomass, characterized in that it consists of a heatable fermenter part (1) which is fixed on the ground or embedded in the ground and has a sloping bottom which is pierced by a base (11) and the airtight gas bell (2) connected to it and moving up and down, and wherein the fermenter part with a line for the supply of biomass (12) and with a pump (8), further with an annular overflow weir lying around the fermenter part, which one Ring channel (4) forms, the bottom of which is slightly inclined and the lower part of which runs into a line with a siphon (5) and is provided with a tap line (7) which can be closed by the tap (9) for the biogas obtained, and wherein the gas bell (2) contains gas guiding internals inside,
which consist of one or more funnel-shaped or helical baffles (3) and one or more perforated plates (6) and an additional weight (10).
The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing biogas by bacterial, anaerobic fermentation of biomass. The biogas mostly consists of approximately methane and 1 of carbon dioxide and has a high calorific value.
This process is already used in most wastewater treatment plants, especially in municipal wastewater treatment plants, when the sludge is digested.
To date, this type of slurry fermentation has generally been carried out in heatable, isolated fermenters, which are equipped with a pump for feeding with biomass, an agitator for circulating the mass and breaking up the floating blanket consisting of solid waste, and also with a discharge device for the fermented mass (usually an overflow) and equipped with a gas container for storing the gas before consumption.
The main problem is the destruction of the floating cover and the removal of the floating cover fragments. Up to now, attempts have been made to solve this problem in the following way: - dispensing with straw and grass from being strewn into the barn or entering chopped-up straw material, which is of course very disadvantageous in livestock farming, or - chopping the fresh manure before it is fermented or - prior separation of the floating blanket from the fresh slurry by centrifuging or - tearing open the floating blanket with a stirrer in the fermenter.
A similar floating blanket is also created when biomass of plant origin is used instead of liquid manure.
It is easy to see that all of these additional measures or necessary devices are costly, energy-intensive and maintenance-intensive and often lead to business interruptions.
The problems mentioned are now solved in a simple manner by using the apparatus according to the invention. Only with the help of the energy generated by the biogas formation, i.e. Without the external influence of machines, the floating cover is continuously destroyed and its fragments are removed without interference.
The figure shows a longitudinal section through the apparatus according to the invention. It consists of a heatable, fixed on the floor or embedded in the bottom fermenter part 1 with a beveled bottom, which is pierced by a base 11, and the gas-tightly connected and up and down movable gas bell 2, the fermenter part with a line for the Supply of fresh manure 12 and with a pump 8, furthermore with an overflow weir lying in a ring around the fermenter part, which forms an annular channel 4, the bottom of which is slightly inclined and the lowermost part of which runs out into a line with a siphon 5 and with one through the tap 9 closable bleed line 7 is provided for the biogas obtained, and wherein the gas bell 2 contains gas guide internals in its interior,
which consist of one or more funnel-shaped or helical baffles 3 and one or more perforated plates 6 and an additional weight 10.
The apparatus according to the invention can consist of a wide variety of materials which are resistant to the biomass used, especially to manure and gases, such as concrete, steel or plastic or combinations of these materials. The preferred material is glass fiber reinforced plastic for apparatuses that stand freely on the floor and possibly concrete for Fermeter parts that are partially or completely submerged in the floor. The fermenter section should be sufficiently insulated against heat loss and approx. 300 mm above the floor with e.g. be provided with a steel tube heating coil. The heating takes place e.g. by means of a hot water circuit with an inlet temperature of approx. 80 "C.
The function of the apparatus according to the invention for the production of biogas will be explained in more detail with reference to the figure in the fermentation of Jauche:
Fresh manure is pumped through line 12 - advantageously by means of pump 8 - into the lower part of the gasometer (i.e. into the fermenter) 1 up to the desired height. Then the tap 9 on the exhaust pipe 7 is closed, the bell 2, including internals 3 plus sieve plates 6 and weight 10, being raised as a result of the progressive formation of biogas. Then the tap 9 is opened, the biogas escaping through the line 7 and can be used. Here, the gas lock 2, including internals, sieve plates and weight, drops to the maximum where the weight 10 rests on the base 11.
During this downward movement, the floating cover is crushed by the funnel-shaped internals 3, while the biomass is whirled up by the sieve plates 6. Then the tap 9 is closed again, whereby the gas bell 2 is raised again and the previously crushed floating blanket fragments are pushed outwards into the ring channel 4 and conveyed out through the pipe and the siphon 5 to the apparatus.
The mixing of the biomass through the perforated plates 6 can be supported by piston pumps, mammoth pumps, etc.
The process described can be repeated any number of times. Preferably 1-4 increases and decreases bell 2 and 1-2 refills of fermenter part 1 with fresh liquid manure per day.
The effect of the up and down movement of the gas lock with the above-mentioned internals can be achieved by turning the gas bell (the apparatus preferably has a circular cross
cut) are reinforced, which is particularly effective for helical installations in the gas bell. This can be done mechanically from the outside or by the up and down movement itself with the help of spiral vertical guides.
The apparatus according to the invention has the advantage over previously known apparatuses that it can be operated very simply, effectively and in an energy-saving manner solely through the formation of biogas and no external mechanical devices are required.
The following example illustrates the invention (see figure).
example
The still empty gasometer, consisting of fermenter section 1, diameter 4 m, height 4.3 m, volume 50 m3, and gas bell 2, diameter 3.8 m, height 2 m, total volume 22 m3, is connected via line 12 Pump 8 filled with 50 m3 fresh liquid manure (biomass) up to the overflow weir at ring channel 4. Then the tap 9 is closed and the whole is heated to 33 ° C., whereby the anaerobic fermentation begins. Biogas is formed, which is under the pressure of the weight of the gas bell and its internals and is approx. 30 mbar, and on the surface Due to the increasing amount of biogas, the gas bell 2 together with internals 3, sieve plates 6 and weight 10 are raised, thereby fragments of the now destroyed floating blanket are diverted into the ring channel 4 and from there into the line and siphon 5.
Now the tap 9 is opened. Here, the biogas flows out. The bell together with the internals sinks, the floating ceiling being destroyed by the internals 3. The entire biomass is thereby whirled up somewhat by the perforated plates 6 each time the bell is moved up and down.
Then the tap 9 is closed again. The process can be repeated any number of times.
The same volume of fermented liquid manure is emitted when a daily feed of 2 m3 fresh liquid manure is fed in.
This creates 50-70 m3 of biogas (measured at the bell pressure indicated above).
