Fig. 1 einen Längsschnitt durch eine erfindungsgemässe Kokille,
Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht der Kokille nach Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 eine Draufsicht einer anderen Ausführung,
Fig. 4 eine Teildraufsicht einer weiteren Ausführung,
Fig. 5 eine Teildraufsicht einer vierten Ausführung, und

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Mold for repeated casting of metal, which consists of a non-magnetic material, characterized by coils generating electromagnetic fields.
2. Mold according to claim 1, characterized by a plurality of coils or coil arrangements distributed over the mold height, which can be activated separately.
3. Chill mold according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the magnetic poles of the coils protrude into the mold wall.
4. Chill mold according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that each coil arrangement consists of at least two mutually opposite pairs of coils which are wound such that the same poles lie opposite one another.
5. Chill mold according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the frequency f = 0.1 to 50 Hz, preferably f = 0.2 to 10 Hz.
6. The method for operating the mold according to claim 2, characterized in that the coil arrangements are activated one after the other in such a way that the coil arrangement located in the height region of the metal sump is activated in each case.
The invention relates to a mold for casting metal, which consists of a non-magnetizable material, preferably a Cu alloy. The invention also relates to a method for operating the mold.
Chilled molds for the repeated pouring of, for example, iron-containing melts often lead to castings with a dendrite structure. When the melt cools, the dendrites grow inside at right angles to the wall.
The dendrites can adversely affect the mechanical properties of the cast due to their own anisotropy. It also creates problems of segregation, voiding and porosity, all of which can adversely affect the end product. In order to disrupt the formation of dendrites, it is known for continuous casting molds to use electromagnetic fields which produce a stirring effect and thus counteract the formation of dendrites. The solidification zone is stationary, but this is not the case with molds for repeated pouring, so the problem is of a different nature
It is the object of the invention to propose a stationary mold, by means of which the production of dendrite-free or low-dendrite castings is made possible.
The object is achieved according to the invention by the teaching of claim 1. Advantageous further developments emerge from the dependent claims.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of a few exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing. Show it:
1 shows a longitudinal section through a mold according to the invention,
2 shows a plan view of the mold according to FIG. 1,
3 is a top view of another embodiment;
4 is a partial top view of a further embodiment,
Fig. 5 is a partial plan view of a fourth embodiment, and
Fig. 6 is a plan view of a mold with an irregular cross section.
Fig. 1 shows a stationary mold or a mold 1 for the repeated pouring of metal. It is made of a CuCr alloy. Coil arrangements are arranged evenly distributed over the mold height, each consisting of several coils 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, although a single coil is also possible. In the example of FIGS. 1 and 2, there is such a coil arrangement in each height range I, II, III, IV, V and VI. An iron melt 12 is poured into the mold 1, a part 13 solidifying and the upper part 14 below the bath level 15 still being a liquid sump. The mode of operation consists in activating those coil arrangements which are in the height range of the metal sump 14.
In the example shown, the coil arrangements of the mold height regions III and IV are activated. The coils of areas I and II are already switched off because the solidification has already taken place. When the bath level 15 rises higher, the coils in area V are switched on or activated and the coils in area III are switched off.
It is advantageous if the magnetic poles 19 of the coils protrude into the mold wall because the depth of penetration of the electromagnetic field is then increased.
An effective flow is already achieved when pairs of coils 3 and 4, which are designed as yokes, lie opposite one another with their poles N and S directly opposite one another.
This creates flow patterns 20 and 21, the flow of which flows close to the mold wall. Additional flow patterns 22 and 23 are generated when the coils 5 and 6 lie opposite the coils 7 and 8. The coils are wound so that the opposing coils 5 and 7 form a north pole N. The coils 6 and 8 form a south pole. Switching the coil assemblies on and off is for energy saving considerations.
The material of the mold 1 can also consist of aluminum or graphite. However, the material must not be magnetic. The coils can be arranged vertically, horizontally or diagonally. The coils can also be arranged directly in the cooling fins of the mold. The depth of penetration depends on the thickness of the mold wall and is also determined by the frequency f. The feed can take place via the two- or four-phase system. Depending on the desired depth of penetration, the frequency is 0.1 to 50 Hz. It is possible to use only the yoke 3.
Fig; 3 shows a second embodiment, in which a single yoke 28 connects two opposing mold walls to one another. This yoke 28 can either have a single turn 29, or two turns 30 and 31 are used. The yoke is preferably composed of dynamo sheets.
Fig. 4 shows a third embodiment, which consists of a star or triangular coil arrangement, while Fig. 5 shows a fourth embodiment, where the feed takes place predominantly with the two-phase system f = 0.2 to 10 Hz. The magnetic field is a traveling field.
6 shows a cross-sectional constriction 36 where the risk of continuous dendrite formation is particularly great. Therefore, solenoids 37 are arranged there.
Avoiding dendrite formation in region 36 is particularly important if the cast from the mold according to FIG. 6 is subjected to bending.
