Description
The present invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such a method is known from DT-OS 2 459 263. A multi-core superconductor, which is composed of superconducting cores and non-superconducting material and whose cores consist wholly or partly of intermetallic compounds with a β-W structure and the composition AaB (e.g. NbaSn), is produced in such a way that with non-superconducting Material coated wires made of metal A coated with metal B and several of these wires are inserted into a tube made of non-superconducting material and that the tube filled with the coated wires is then processed into a composite body by pulling and the composite body at a temperature of 650 to 750 ° C is annealed for a period of 10 to 80 hours. This process is intended to create a multi-core superconductor which has high mechanical stability and whose cores largely consist of the superconducting intermetallic compound AîB. However, this method has some disadvantages. It allows the manufacture of only limited conductor unit lengths. Given the pipe and wire dimensions, the length of the pipe into which the wires can be inserted is limited. The possible use of larger pipe dimensions or continuous strapping is complex and requires additional special equipment. A major serious disadvantage is that with the cladding of the bundled individual wires, additional material of the tube is introduced into the wire cross-section, which is practically useless for the superconductor, but the one to be achieved
Gesamtstromdichte herabsetzt. Total current density reduced.
The invention has for its object to eliminate the disadvantages of the known and to provide a method for producing a superconductor which enables the production of practically unlimited unit lengths of the superconductor and a high total current density of the same in a simple manner.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features of claim 1. The advantage of the invention is, in particular, that in the method according to the invention the individual conductors are held together during the mechanical deformation without an additional tube, so that the unit length of the superconductor is not limited by the technological difficulties when inserting the individual conductors into the tube and into the wire cross-section no additional, useless material is brought in.
It is particularly advantageous if the required rope connection of the individual conductors is maintained by additional twists during the mechanical deformation. During the mechanical deformation, for example by pulling or rolling, the pitch of the stranding increases so that the bond forces are reduced accordingly. The additional twists renew these bond forces, so that the twisted individual conductors do not fall apart even with a large extension. It is expedient if the twisted individual conductors are additionally twisted every or during each deformation step. This measure prevents the rope from rising too high. According to a further embodiment, the metallurgical connection of the individual conductors is carried out by cold welding or soldering. This metallurgical connection holds the individual conductors together during the mechanical deformation. It goes without saying that the metallurgical connection can be combined with the stranding of the individual conductors. It is advantageous if the individual conductors are provided with a layer of metal B before the stranding or if the metal B is fed to the individual conductor composite during or after the mechanical deformation. The individual conductors are thus supplied with the predetermined amount of metal B which is required for the reaction with the filaments.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in simplified form.

1, a single-conductor assembly is designated by the reference number 1, individual conductors by the reference number 2, copper matrices by the reference number 3, Nb filaments by the reference number 4 and Sn layers by the reference number 5. In FIG. 2, the single-conductor assembly is designated by the same Number 1 denotes as in FIG. 1. The Sn layers are also identified in FIG. 2 by the number 5. The copper matrix with the Nb filaments is named with the number 6.
The individual conductor 2 consists of the copper matrix 3 with 102 embedded Nb filaments 4. It was drawn to a diameter of 0.76 mm and with an Sn layer of 20 p. covered. Seven individual conductors 2 were twisted to form the individual conductor assembly 1 and deformed by pulling to a final diameter of 0.25 mm. During the mechanical deformation, the individual conductor assembly 1 was additionally twisted, so that the ratio of the pitch height to the wire diameter is essentially always renewed. The single-conductor assembly 1 was heated in steps from 200 to 700 ° by an annealing operation, the tin diffusing out of the tin layer 5 into the copper matrix 3 and the intermetallic compound with the filaments

vom Strukturtyp A 15 bildete. The superconducting compound NbsSn was formed during a 50-hour annealing treatment at 700 ° C.
Es hat sich gezeigt, The subject matter of the invention is of course not limited to the example described. The individual conductors 2 can contain a few to several hundred filaments from one of the components of the intermetallic compound of the A15 structure in the copper matrix 3 and they can be drawn into a long conductor with a diameter of 0.1 to several millimeters. The individual conductors 2 can have an io diameter of 5 p to 100 jx, preferably 20 jx to 70 (i) and each or at least approximately every second can be surrounded by a tin layer, the filaments having a diameter of 0.5 p to 10 p. It has been shown that

Of course, twisting can also be carried out continuously during the mechanical deformation. Instead of a thick tin covering of each individual conductor, the partially drawn or partially rolled individual conductor assembly 1 can also be filled with the required amount of tin by means of a guided tour through a tin bath, the tinning having to be carried out after the partial pull, in which the predetermined amount of tin that is used for the reaction is being taken up the filaments is needed. The above information for Sn and Nb applies correspondingly to other metals A and B, whereby metal A can also be used as vanadium and as metals B also silicon, aluminum, germanium or gallium. If necessary, the stranding can be repeated several times: each individual wire according to FIG. 1 can already consist of a partial cable according to FIG. 2. 1 can consist of at least three to over ten individual wires.
