The present invention relates to an injected synthetic material capsule, formed of a tubular element provided with a screw thread and closed on one side by a plane, the exterior of said tubular element being fluted.
Glass bottles are already known, the neck of which has a thread making it possible to screw a plastic stopper; sealing is ensured by a cylindrical skirt provided with a bead which rests against the inner wall of the bottle. It is this bead that creates manufacturing difficulties: it is necessary to provide a punch in two parts to release the bead during demolding, a configuration which (in addition to the complexity of the tool) limits the possibilities of cooling the tool. . As a result, the production rate of the caps is relatively low. In addition, the cost of the tooling is very high.
The aim of the invention is to overcome these difficulties by means of a capsule, characterized in that it comprises at its center a lip emerging from the inner wall of the plane, said lip having a frustoconical inner surface and a greater thickness at the bottom. base at its end, so as to obtain a relief angle, the end of said lip being terminated by a rounded part.
In what follows, the capsule and its manufacturing process are described in detail and by way of example with reference to the drawing where:
Fig. 1 shows the mold and the punch in the capsule injection position.
Fig. 2 represents the tooling during the extraction, after injection, of a capsule.
Fig. 3 shows the elastic deformation of the lip of the capsule during demolding.
Fig. 4 shows the use of the cap to close a bottle.
Figs. 1 and 2 show the tool for manufacturing a capsule according to the invention, tool consisting of a mold I provided with an injection orifice 2 and a cavity 20 determining the external shape of the capsule 6, d 'a support plate 4 and a punch 3. The assembly is shown in FIG. 1, in the closed position, just after the injection of synthetic material into the space between the cavity 20 of the mold 1, the outer surface of the end 5 of the punch 3 and the support plate 4.
The tool is obviously mounted on a machine for injecting synthetic materials (not shown).
The punch 3 comprises a single movable part having one end 5, emerging from the support plate 4 of the mold 1, provided with a thread 7; the end face of the punch has a frustoconical groove 21 (see FIG. 2) corresponding to a lip 9 disposed at the bottom of the capsule 6. In addition, this end face is provided with an annular groove 22, forming the rib 8, having a diameter between that of the groove 21 and the bottom of the thread. The groove 22 may have a triangular section.
First (see fig. 1), synthetic material is injected to form the capsule 6; after solidification of the injected material, the mold 1 is removed.
Then, in a second step (fig. 2), while means (not shown) prevent the rotation of the injected capsule 6, the punch 3 is unscrewed which slides in the plate 4 serving as a support for one face of the capsule. .
The basic idea of the invention is clearly demonstrated by FIG. 3 which shows, from right to left, three phases of demolding; the lip 9 peels off from the groove 21 of the punch 5, then flexes elastically with respect to its base while a small portion of its outer surface rests against the punch (the angle of the groove 21 has a rounding) and, finally, takes a shape which roughly matches that of the mold groove. The rounded part of the lip prevents excessive bending and facilitates the extraction of the capsule. When bending, the lip thickens somewhat. The rotation of the punch plays practically no role in the behavior of the lip during demolding.
It is the choice of the angles a and ss, determined experimentally, which makes it possible to carry out the demolding with a punch having a single moving part (at least for the end which determines the internal shape of the capsule). Good results have been obtained with a draft angle ss = 50 and an angle a = 110 "+10".
The synthetic material used must be sufficiently ductile to allow elastic deformation.
The capsule obtained by this manufacturing process is therefore in the form of a tubular element with a relatively thin wall, closed by a plane at one of its ends. The bottom (see FIG. 4) rests against the interior wall of the bottle 30, thus ensuring the seal. With the draft angle, the thickness of the lip is greater at its base than at its end.
The rib 8, crushing against the end face of the neck of the bottle 30, offers additional security from the point of view of sealing.
The screw thread of the stopper, for example of semi-cylindrical section, corresponds to that used on many bottles.
On the outside, the plug 6 is provided with grooves 10 over part of its height, so that it can be unscrewed easily.
