Abstract

The apparatus comprises a support plate (11) in the form of a ridged trestle with a rounded top (11a) and two practically plane lateral branches (11b, 11c). This plate (11) serves as support for at least one object to be dried (C). Heating means are placed on the lower side of the support plate (11). A displaceable cover (B) for covering the upper side of the support plate (11) and the object to be dried (C) is constituted by an impermeable flexible diaphragm (21) which is provided on its lower face with a mattress of porous material (24) and equipped on its circumference with a seal (23) intended to interact with a peripheral part of the support plate (11) to form an airtight space enclosing the object to be dried (C). The apparatus also comprises means making it possible to connect the airtight space to a vacuum source. When there are a number of drying stations close to one another, the number of covers (B) will be equal to the number of stations minus one. When drying on one station is completed, the cover is transferred to a station on which a wet object has just been placed. <IMAGE>
