**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
In technical processes for the implementation of which aqueous or largely aqueous media are used, disruptive foams very often occur which, for. B. may slow down the speed of the processes and adversely affect the quality of the process products. Typical processes in which these disruptive foams are significant are e.g. B. processes for paper manufacture and equipment, processes for finishing and dyeing various substrates, in particular textile materials, processes for the production of coating colors but also processes for mechanical, chemical or biological wastewater treatment and wastewater treatment, as are carried out in conventional sewage treatment plants.
It is known for this purpose defoamers, e.g. B.
Use silicone oils to prevent foam formation as much as possible or to remove foam that has formed. For this purpose, the water-insoluble silicone oils must be converted into aqueous emulsions in order to be able to act as a foam suppressant or defoamer. The stability of these emulsions is not satisfactory, since the silicone oils turn out very easily, the desired effect then being lost and, in addition, e.g. B. in finishing or dyeing processes for textile materials, undesirable effects (staining) can still occur on the substrates.
It has now been found that certain water-insoluble or sparingly water-soluble compounds which have no wetting action, together with aqueous colloidal solutions of anionic surfactants, give homogeneous solutions, which can be dissolved in water or at least mixed with water. These preparations show a significantly improved wetting effect (synergism) compared to the anionic surfactant, are also low-foaming, have a foam-suppressing action and have an increased hydrotropy (dissolving power) for other water-insoluble or poorly water-soluble substances.
The increased hydrotropic effect on other water-insoluble or sparingly water-soluble substances is shown, for. B. when using silicone oils or other water-insoluble substances in mixtures with the components (1), (2) and / or (3) described below. The solubilizing power of the component mixture mentioned is so great that after the addition of the silicone oil, an optically clear, homogeneous mixture does not form, as expected, an emulsion. Mixtures of this type, which contain silicone oils, can further improve the wetting action and the foam damping of the agents according to the invention.
The present invention now relates to a wetting and anti-foaming agent based on anionic surfactants, characterized in that, based on the agent, it contains 2 to 50 percent by weight of an anionic surfactant (1) of the formula
EMI1.1

wherein component (2) is a water-insoluble or sparingly water-soluble reaction product with a molecular weight of 2000 to 7000 from (al) a 1- to 6-valent aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a monoalkyl or monoalkylol monoamine, an alkylenediamine or an Polyalkylene polyamine and (a2) a low molecular weight aliphatic monoepoxide or a mixture of such monoepoxides and component (3) is a water-insoluble aliphatic monoalcohol having at least 8 carbon atoms or its alkylene oxide adduct, which is sparingly soluble in water, or a mixture of such monoalcohols or a water-insoluble alkylphenol alkylene oxide, and contains 20 to 92 weight percent water (5).
The wetting and anti-foaming agents can additionally contain up to 30 percent by weight silicone oil (4).
Preference is given to those of the wetting and foam-damping agents according to the invention which, based on the agent, contain 2 to 50 percent by weight of the anionic surfactant (1), 6 to 50 percent by weight of components (2) and / or (3), component (2) a water-soluble or sparingly water-soluble reaction product with a molecular weight of 2000 to 7000 from (a,) a 1- to 6-valent aliphatic alcohol with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a monoalkyl or monoalkylol monoamine, an alkylenediamine or a polyalkylene polyamine and (a2) 1,2 is propylene oxide or a mixture of 1,2-propylene oxide and ethylene oxide, the proportion of epoxide in the reaction product containing 0 to 20% of ethylene oxide units and 100 to 80% of propylene oxide units,
and component (3) is a water-insoluble aliphatic monoalcohol with at least 8 carbon atoms or its poorly water-soluble alkylene oxide adduct, a mixture of such monoalcohols or a water-insoluble alkylphenol alkylene oxide adduct, and contains 20 to 92 percent by weight of water (5).
These wetting and anti-foaming agents can also contain up to 30 percent by weight silicone oil (4).
The invention further relates to a process for defoaming aqueous systems, outside the textile industry, of paper fiber suspensions, such as are obtained in the paper making process, from paper coating slips or from coating colors using the wetting and foam-damping agents according to the invention. Another use concerns wastewater treatment processes in the sewage treatment plants provided for this purpose.
Anionic surfactants of component (1) are e.g. B. All of the compounds and reaction products mentioned as component (3) are either known, some of them are commercially available, or they can be prepared by known methods known to those skilled in the art.
The silicone oils of component (4) are used in the processes according to the invention in particular when an extremely foam-suppressing effect is sought. However, silicone oils can also further improve the wetting effect of the agents used. The silicone oils can be used in amounts up to 30, e.g. B. 0.1 to 30, in particular up to 20, optionally only up to 10 percent by weight, for example 0.1 to 10 or 0.1 to 2 or 0.5 to 1.5 percent by weight, based on the agent be. Silicone oils are understood to mean organopolysiloxanes (optionally blocked with hydroxyl at the ends), such as, for example, polydimethylsiloxanes, polymethylphenylsiloxanes and polymethylhydrogensiloxanes with average molecular weights of about 1000 to 100,000, preferably of 5000 to 40,000.
Alkyl polysiloxanes which have a viscosity of at least 0.7 centipoise at 250 ° C. are particularly suitable. The alkyl radical can contain 1 to 6 carbon atoms. Preferred, for example, are the methylsiloxanes which have a viscosity of from 50 to 15,000, preferably from about 100 to 1000, centipoise at 250.degree. Suitable methylpolysiloxanes can be represented by the formula
EMI3.2
are reproduced, wherein R is methyl or methoxy and x is an integer greater than 1, z. B. such a value of 50 to 1200 or more means. These are generally known commercial products which, in addition to the silicone oil, may also contain conventional additives such as. B. colloidal silica or emulsifiers based on polyethylene glycol.
Examples of such silicone oils are silicone oil SAG 100 (Union Carbide), silicone oil DB 100 and MSA (Dow Corning) and silicone oil SH (Wacker Chemie). The higher molecular weight silicone oils are preferred.
They are preferably used in relatively small amounts, e.g. B. Avoid intrinsic effects of silicone oils (hydrophobicity).
The wetting and foam damping agents according to the invention can now be obtained by simply stirring the components mentioned at from 15 to 800 ° C., in particular at from 15 to 300 ° C., in water (component 5) as homogeneous, preferably clear mixtures which are very good at room temperature are stable in storage. In particular, the agents according to the invention contain 10 to 50 percent by weight of component (1), 10 to 50 percent by weight of component (2) and / or (3)
0 to 30 percent by weight of component (4) and 20 to 80 percent by weight of water, each based on the agent.
Also particularly suitable are agents which contain 10 to 30 (preferably 10 to 20) percent by weight of component (1), 10 to 30 (preferably 15 to 30) percent by weight of component (2) and / or (3), 0 to 10 percent by weight of Component (4) and 20 to 80 (preferably 40 to 75) weight percent water.
Depending on the amount and type of components used, the new agents are weak to highly viscous in the stated aqueous form; They can be mixed with water, giving immediately clear, homogeneous preparations.
The wetting and anti-foaming agents can be used in acidic or alkaline preparations (pH range about 1 to 12) and in a wide temperature range, e.g. B. 20 to 1400 C, are used without losing their effect. For practical use, they can be used undiluted or after dilution with water, about 0.001 to 20 g / l of the agent being sufficient; Application baths for textile treatment can contain about 0.1 to 10 g / l, in particular 0.5 to 5 g / l. Agents that contain silicone oils and are therefore particularly used for foam damping or to avoid foams, for. B. in wastewater treatment, are generally used in amounts of 0.001 to 1 g / l, preferably from 0.001 to 0.1 g / l. The amount used also depends on that in the wastewater or
the other surfactants present in aqueous systems.
The wetting and foam-damping agents can optionally also be prepared without component (5) (water). Concentrated preparations with a total solids content of about 25 to 75% are obtained. These concentrates can contain component (1) in an amount of about 25 to 70 percent by weight, component (2) and / or (3) in an amount of 25 to 70 percent by weight and component (4) in an amount of 0 to 30 Weight percent included.
The wetting and foaming agents according to the invention can now be used in a wide variety of processes in which aqueous or water-containing preparations are used which tend to foam, such as. B. in dyeing and finishing processes (finishing processes) for textile materials, also in processes for paper manufacture (paper fiber suspensions) and paper equipment, especially when gluing paper with aqueous resin preparations or in the surface treatment of paper (paper coating slips), as well as in processes for defoaming waste water; In addition to the entrained or dissolved impurities, municipal or commercial wastewater usually also has the disadvantage that they foam strongly. This can disrupt the processing in the sewage treatment plants and z. B. complicate the introduction of air into biological sewage treatment plants.
It is therefore advantageous to add foam-suppressing agents to such waste water. In order to make do with very small amounts of such foam damping agents and on the other hand not to reduce the effectiveness of the sewage treatment plant, such a foam damping agent must be very stable and as indifferent as possible. The agent according to the invention fulfills these conditions in an excellent manner.
Further possible uses for the wetting and foam-damping agents according to the invention are foam-suppressing additives when washing in household washing machines and for producing non-foaming coating color formulations.
If other slightly foaming auxiliaries (surfactants) are used, good foam damping can be achieved by adding the agents according to the invention. Another effect of the agents according to the invention is based on the ability to practically completely deaerate aqueous systems, i. H. Avoid air pockets in the application baths and on or in the substrates. Such ventilation is such. B. excluded staining on colored substrates.
Because of their good hydrotropic properties, the agents according to the invention are particularly suitable for the application of water-insoluble or sparingly water-soluble substances (dyes, finishing agents), since these can be brought into a finely divided form without additional, possibly large amounts of solvent being required. The finishing processes can thus be carried out significantly cheaper.
