Les cure-dents usuels comportent en général une tige terminée par une pointe ou un bec, rigide ou flexible, susceptible d'être introduit entre les dents pour enlever les déchets d'aliments qui se logent entre lesdites dents lors de la mastication. De par cette structure, ces cure-dents ne permettent pas d'éliminer tous les déchets pris entre les dents, notamment lorsque ces déchets ne peuvent être atteints depuis le devant de la denture, comme c'est par exemple le cas si la denture est très serrée ou si les déchets sont logés entre les dents du fond de la mâchoire. Dans la plupart des cas, I'usager est donc obligé de se livrer à des manipulations disgracieuses et dont l'efficacité est pratiquement nulle, sans compter le risque de briser la pointe du cure-dents entre deux dents ou de se blesser.
Dans certains cas rebelles, la seule solution est de faire usage d'un fil dentaire. Cette solution n'est toutefois pas idéale car le fil dentaire doit obligatoirement être manoeuvré à deux mains pour être inséré entre les dents, ce qui nécessite une gymnastique compliquée et fort peu élégante de la bouche, surtout s'il s'agit d'atteindre les dents du fond de la mâchoire.
Dans le but de remédier à ces inconvénients, la présente invention a pour objet un cure-dents, comprenant une tige dont une extrémité se termine par une pointe, caractérisé en ce que la tige comporte au moins une projection transversale pourvue d'une pointe orientée dans une direction opposée à celle de la pointe de l'extrémité de la tige.
Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, une forme et une variante d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention.

Le cure-dents représenté sur les fig. 1 à 3 comprend une tige 1 dont une extrémité se termine par une poignée 2 en forme générale de spatule dont la partie centrale présente deux évidements en regard 3 et 4 destinés à faciliter la tenue du cure-dents entre le pouce et l'index. L'autre extrémité de la tige 1 porte une pointe 5 en forme générale de fléche.
L'un des côtés de la tige 1 est pourvu d'une projection 6 transversale à la tige, cette projection ayant la forme d'un secteur circulaire d'environ 90O. Sur la projection 6 est agencée une pointe 7 en forme générale de flèche, cette pointe 7 étant orientée dans la direction opposée à celle de la pointe 5, parallèlement à la tige 1 et en direction de la poignée 2. Les pointes 5 et 7 sont effilées.
Du côté opposé à celui qui porte la pointe 7, la tige I est pourvue de deux épaulements transversaux 8 et 9 entre les extrémités desquels est tendu un fil mince 10.
Ainsi le cure-dents décrit peut être saisi par la poignée 2, les évidements 3 et 4 facilitant la prise entre le pouce et l'index. A l'aide de la pointe 5, I'usager peut enlever les déchets d'aliments accessibles depuis le devant de la denture, cependant que la pointe 7 qui est orientée dans la direction opposée à celle de la pointe 5 lui permet d'atteindre les espaces interdentaires par l'arrière de la denture, le fil 10 offrant en outre la possibilité d'utiliser un fil dentaire sans avoir à faire usage des deux mains puisqu'il est tendu sur le cure-dents. L'usager a ainsi la faculté d'atteindre les espaces interdentaires par l'avant ou par l'arrière de la denture et également par insertion d'un fil entre les dents. Il est par conséquent possible d'éliminer toutes les obstructions dues à des aliments sans difficultés et sans manipulations désagréables ou disgracieuses.
La variante d'exécution représentée sur la fig. 4 est identique au cure-dents de la fig. 1, sauf en ce qui concerne la pointe destinée à atteindre les espaces interdentaires depuis l'arrière de la denture. Dans cette variante, la tige porte une projection transversale ou bras 11 incliné par rapport à l'axe de la tige, ce bras étant terminé par une pointe 7 en forme générale de flèche. Cette pointe est également orientée dans une direction opposée à celle de la pointe 5, direction qui n'est toutefois pas parallèle à la tige mais forme un angle avec celle-ci. L'utilisation de cette variante d'exécution est la même que celle de la forme d'exécution de la fig. 1.
Bien que la tige 1 soit représentée sous la forme d'une barrette plate allongée de section rectangulaire, cette disposition n'est aucunement limitative et la tige 1 peut avoir une section ronde, ovale ou de toute autre forme appropriée. De même, la forme en flèche effilée des pointes 5 et 7 peut être modifiée et remplacée par toute autre forme pointue.
Selon une variante non représentée, il est prévu de supprimer la poignée 2 et l'on pourra également réaliser le cure-dents sans les épaulements transversaux 8 et 9 et le fil 10.
Enfin, il est prévu un cure-dents dans lequel la tige porte deux ou plusieurs projections transversales pourvues chacune d'une pointe orientée dans une direction opposée à celle de la pointe disposée à l'extrémité de la tige. L'inclinaison de chacune de ces pointes par rapport à la tige peut être différente afin de permettre une adaptation optimale du cure-dents aux espaces interdentaires à l'arrière de la denture.
REVENDICATION
Cure-dents, comprenant une tige dont une extrémité se termine par une pointe, caractérisé en ce que la tige comporte au moins une projection transversale pourvue d'une pointe orientée dans une direction opposée à celle de la pointe de l'extrémité de la tige.
SOUS-REVENDICATIONS
1. Cure-dents selon la revendication, caractérisé en ce que la projection transversale est constituée par un secteur circulaire d'environ 90 , et en ce que la pointe agencée sur ladite projection transversale est orientée parallèlement à la tige.
2. Cure-dents selon la revendication, caractérisé en ce que la projection transversale est constituée par un bras incliné par rapport à la tige, et en ce que la pointe agencée sur ladite projection transversale est disposée à l'extrémité dudit bras.
3. Cure-dents selon la revendication, caractérisé en ce que la tige porte deux épaulements transversaux entre les extrémités desquels est tendu un fil mince.
4. Cure-dents selon la sous-revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que les épaulements transversaux et le fil tendu entre eux sont disposés à l'opposé de la projection transversale portant la pointe orientée dans une direction opposée à celle de la pointe de l'extrémité de la tige.
5. Cure-dents selon la revendication ou l'une des sous-revendications 1 à 4, caractérisé en ce que la tige porte à son autre extrémité une poignée de manoeuvre.
6. Cure-dents selon la sous-revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que la poignée de manoeuvre est en forme générale de spatule, et en ce que la partie centrale de cette spatule présente deux évidements en regard.
7. Cure-dents selon la revendication, caractérisé en ce que la pointe de la tige et celle de la projection transversale sont en forme de flèches effilées.

The usual toothpicks generally comprise a rod terminated by a point or a beak, rigid or flexible, capable of being introduced between the teeth to remove the food waste which lodges between said teeth during chewing. Due to this structure, these toothpicks do not make it possible to eliminate all the waste caught between the teeth, in particular when this waste cannot be reached from the front of the teeth, as is for example the case if the teeth are very tight or if the waste is lodged between the back teeth of the jaw. In most cases, the user is therefore forced to engage in unsightly manipulations the effectiveness of which is practically zero, not to mention the risk of breaking the tip of the toothpick between two teeth or of injuring himself.
In some tough cases, the only solution is to floss. However, this solution is not ideal because the dental floss must be operated with both hands to be inserted between the teeth, which requires a complicated and very inelegant gymnastics of the mouth, especially if it is a question of reaching the back teeth of the jaw.
With the aim of remedying these drawbacks, the present invention relates to a toothpick, comprising a rod whose one end ends in a point, characterized in that the rod has at least one transverse projection provided with an oriented point. in a direction opposite to that of the tip of the end of the rod.

The toothpick shown in Figs. 1 to 3 comprises a rod 1, one end of which ends in a handle 2 in the general shape of a spatula, the central part of which has two facing recesses 3 and 4 intended to facilitate the holding of the toothpick between the thumb and forefinger. The other end of the rod 1 carries a point 5 in the general shape of an arrow.
One of the sides of the rod 1 is provided with a projection 6 transverse to the rod, this projection having the shape of a circular sector of approximately 90O. On the projection 6 is arranged a tip 7 in the general shape of an arrow, this tip 7 being oriented in the direction opposite to that of the tip 5, parallel to the rod 1 and in the direction of the handle 2. The tips 5 and 7 are tapered.
On the side opposite to that which carries the point 7, the rod I is provided with two transverse shoulders 8 and 9 between the ends of which a thin wire 10 is stretched.
Thus the toothpick described can be gripped by the handle 2, the recesses 3 and 4 facilitating the grip between the thumb and the index finger. Using the tip 5, the user can remove food waste accessible from the front of the teeth, while the tip 7 which is oriented in the direction opposite to that of the tip 5 allows him to reach the interdental spaces from the rear of the teeth, the wire 10 also offering the possibility of using dental floss without having to use both hands since it is stretched over the toothpick. The user thus has the ability to reach the interdental spaces from the front or the rear of the teeth and also by inserting a wire between the teeth. It is therefore possible to remove all obstructions due to food without difficulty and without unpleasant or unsightly handling.
The variant embodiment shown in FIG. 4 is identical to the toothpick of FIG. 1, except for the tip intended to reach the interdental spaces from the rear of the teeth. In this variant, the rod carries a transverse projection or arm 11 inclined relative to the axis of the rod, this arm being terminated by a point 7 in the general shape of an arrow. This point is also oriented in a direction opposite to that of the point 5, a direction which however is not parallel to the rod but forms an angle therewith. The use of this variant embodiment is the same as that of the embodiment of FIG. 1.
Although the rod 1 is shown in the form of an elongated flat bar of rectangular section, this arrangement is in no way limiting and the rod 1 may have a round, oval or any other suitable shape. Likewise, the tapered arrow shape of the tips 5 and 7 can be modified and replaced by any other pointed shape.
According to a variant not shown, provision is made to eliminate the handle 2 and the toothpick can also be produced without the transverse shoulders 8 and 9 and the wire 10.
Finally, a toothpick is provided in which the rod carries two or more transverse projections each provided with a point oriented in a direction opposite to that of the point arranged at the end of the rod. The inclination of each of these points relative to the rod can be different in order to allow an optimal adaptation of the toothpick to the interdental spaces behind the teeth.
CLAIM
Toothpick, comprising a shank with one end terminating in a point, characterized in that the shank has at least one transverse projection provided with a point oriented in a direction opposite to that of the tip of the end of the shank .
SUB-CLAIMS
1. Toothpick according to claim, characterized in that the transverse projection is constituted by a circular sector of approximately 90, and in that the tip arranged on said transverse projection is oriented parallel to the rod.
2. Toothpick according to claim, characterized in that the transverse projection is constituted by an arm inclined relative to the rod, and in that the tip arranged on said transverse projection is disposed at the end of said arm.
3. Toothpick according to claim, characterized in that the rod carries two transverse shoulders between the ends of which is stretched a thin wire.
4. Toothpick according to sub-claim 3, characterized in that the transverse shoulders and the wire stretched between them are arranged opposite the transverse projection carrying the tip oriented in a direction opposite to that of the tip of the end of the rod.
5. Toothpick according to claim or one of sub-claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the rod carries at its other end an operating handle.
6. Toothpick according to sub-claim 5, characterized in that the operating handle is in the general shape of a spatula, and in that the central part of this spatula has two recesses facing each other.
7. Toothpick according to claim, characterized in that the tip of the rod and that of the transverse projection are in the form of tapered arrows.
