Abstract
Upholstering of furniture by spraying fibres on surfaces using static electricity to hold fibres in erect position
Description

**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
The present invention relates generally to furniture that is covered. It is known to form furniture or parts thereof from wood or from rigid foam and then to cover it with a fabric or with natural or artificial leather.
It has been shown that covering is expensive as a result of the craftsman's work and that, furthermore, advantages of the plastic cannot be used or cannot be used sufficiently in the case of foamed embodiments of furniture. In particular, when it comes to woven fabrics, cleaning the covering materials is not without problems. Repairs can often only be carried out in such a way that the furniture is re-coated.
The task now is to remedy these disadvantages. According to the invention, this is achieved in a piece of furniture in that its surface is at least partially flocked.
Furthermore, the invention also relates to a method for producing the furniture, which method is characterized in that the surface, as far as it is to be covered, is provided with a layer of glue and that electrostatically charged flocking material is sprayed onto the sticky layer of glue.
Particularly advantageous embodiments are obtained when the surface is flocked with fibers and velor-like coatings can be produced when textile fibers of 1-2 mm in length are used.
The electrostatic charge of the fibers results in an alignment of the same, because they repel each other as a result of the electrostatic charge, so that they hold each other while the glue dries.
It is thus easy to apply coatings to the hard or rigid parts or at least quasi-hard parts, as in the case of hardened plastic foam, which are very similar to a covering made of a woven or knitted fabric or a needled material and are very cheap are because, on the one hand, the material, namely the fibers, is cheap and, on the other hand, the working hours are very short and therefore hardly relevant.
It is conceivable that living landscapes could be produced in this way in the simplest possible way, since all furniture, such as seating and reclining furniture or even cupboards and frames, can be flocked in corresponding colors.
PATENT CLAIMS
I. Furniture, characterized in that its surface is at least partially flocked.
II. A method for producing the piece of furniture according to patent claim I, characterized in that the surface, as far as it is to be covered, is provided with a layer of glue and that electrostatically charged flocking material is sprayed onto the sticky layer of glue.
SUBCLAIMS
1. Furniture according to claim I, characterized in that the surface is flocked with fibers.
2. Furniture according to dependent claim 1, characterized in that the fibers are textile fibers.
3. Furniture according to dependent claim 1, characterized in that the fibers are 1-2 mm long.
