Abstract

A hand pump used to extract the air from e.g. a plastics bag filled with a substance before the bag and contents are placed in a deep freezer, has two cardboard tubes, one (6) fitting inside the other (1), the outer tube (1) having a valve (3) at one end, consisting of a flap (5) inside fitting over a hole (4) at that end. The second tube (6) has a similar valve (7) at its inner end, also consisting of a flap (9) over a hole (8). The other end has a partition (10) across it, with a hole (11) through it. The first valve (3) is placed inside the bag and the inner tube (6) is reciprocated inside the outer tube (1).
