Abstract

The lathe includes a mechanism for removal of the non-machinable remnant of the bar material, incorporating a spring holder (44) for the remnant (42) together with an ejector rod for the latter (45). A thruster (41) slides the tailstock so as to extract the remnant from a guide bush (40). The mechanism moves after the turning operation from a waiting to a working position, and back into the waiting position again when the holder has gripped the rear end of the remnant. The thruster includes a hydraulic cylinder the operational mechanism of which is independent of the reciprocating movement of the headstock used for determining the length of the bar.
