The present invention relates to a device for controlling the flow rate of washing liquid in a dishwasher.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a tubular arm rotatably mounted on a washing liquid supply pipe and pierced with holes for the passage of jets of liquid directed at the dishes, and a shutter member mounted on said pipe and having a hollow body capable of being moved into different closed positions of this pipe according to the desired flow rate.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section through the device.
Fig. 2 is a partial cross section taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
The device illustrated in the drawing is used to control the flow of liquid in a dishwasher (not shown) comprising a fixed pipe I for supplying washing liquid, extending horizontally towards the center of the dishwasher where it has a elbow 2 directed vertically. A tubular arm 3 is rotatably mounted on the elbow 2 and is supplied with washing liquid by a slot 4 formed in the wall of the elbow 2. The rotary arm 3 is pierced with holes 5 for the passage of jets of liquid directed at the dishes. . The rotation of the arm 3 is carried out in a known manner for the reaction of the jets leaving said arm. A retaining flag 6 is screwed into the closed end 7 of the elbow 2 and serves to retain the arm vertically upwardly on the latter, an annular projection 8 manufactured with the elbow 2 retaining the arm 3 downwards.
A shutter member 9 is mounted in the pipe 1 at the lower part of the elbow 2 and has a partially cylindrical hollow body 10 capable of rotating in the elbow 2. For this purpose, the hollow body 10 is resiliently retained by clipping in the end. of the elbow 2 which has a conical flare 11 leading to a groove 12 in which an annular rib 13 of the body 10 engages with pressure. The shutter member 9 can be operated from the outside by means of a lever 14 integral with the hollow body 10. This lever 14 has a generally triangular shape as shown in FIG. 2 and each face 15, 16 and 17 bears the indication of the flow rate of washing liquid that it is desired to pass through the rotary arm 3.
In the position of FIG. 2, the shutter member 9, the body 10 of which is cut into 10 ′, allows the maximum flow to pass, the pipe I being completely open. The face 15 which is opposite a fixed mark 18 will therefore bear the strong indication. The face 16 of the lever 14 will bear the average indication because, by bringing this face 16 opposite the mark 18, the hollow body 10 of the shutter member 9 will half close the pipe I and the flow will therefore be reduced by half. Finally, the face 17 of the handle 14 will bear the soft indication because by bringing this face opposite the mark 18, the hollow body 10 will close approximately three quarters of the pipe 1 so that the flow will be further reduced.
The control device described makes it possible to pre-adjust the pressure of the washing liquid leaving the upper arm 3 for washing different kinds of dishes. By using, for example, crystal glasses, the projection of the jets coming out of the holes 5 must be less strong in order to avoid jittering of the glasses which would risk chipping. The shutter member 9 is then rotated by the lever 14, bringing the face 17 bearing the soft indication opposite the fixed mark 18. The section of passage for the washing liquid coming from the pipe 1 is then reduced by approximately three quarters.
To completely close the liquid inlet to the arm 3, the handle 14 is turned until the top 19 of the triangle is opposite the fixed mark 18.
