Abstract

Novel exhaust dyeing and/or brightening of synthetic organic textile fibre material is effected at 60-90 degrees C from an aprotic, non-polar organic solvent contg. at least one cationic dyestuff and/or optical brightener, a swelling agent for the fibre, an emulsifier and water, the dyestuff and/or optical brightener having good solubility in water and as much reduced solubility in the organic solvent as possible. The process is used for acrylonitrile (co)polymers, and also acid-modified polyamides and polyesters, uniform dyeing and/or intensive optical brightening effects being obtained. Both exhaustion is good-excellent. The wet-fastners props. of the dyed materials is the same as that obtd. using aqs. dye baths.
