L'exemple décrit comporte quatre contacts repos-travail.

Miniature electromagnetic relay According to main patent No. 517 374 the present invention is in the field of relays comprising a fixed magnetic circuit and a movable pallet. It includes a layout modification allowing the relay to be used in a supine position instead of in a standing position. The applications extend to switching problems in general, and in particular to telephone equipment.
The relay according to claim of the main patent com carries a carcass of rectangular cross section, on which is wound at least one winding, one side of which is surrounded by a C-shaped magnetic circuit having its opening inside said carcass, characterized in that the common of a contact is constituted by a structure of elongated shape (A), of homogeneous resilient metallic substance and having a section of constant shape over the entire length, comprising, in an end region, an embedding zone, on the outside of said embedding zone, one end serving as a connection, then towards the other end, successively a first elastic deformation zone, a zone integral with a magnetic pallet,
a second elastic zone and finally the other end serving as a common contact, said soft magnetic metal pallet being made integral with said structure by means of an insulating body.
In the relay described in the main patent, the fixed rest and working contacts are placed at the ends of conductors which, crossing the entire height of the relay, leave the common of the contacts in the plane of the fixed ends. The normal mounting position is the standing position.
The relay according to the present invention is in accordance with the claim of the main patent and is characterized in that the rest and work contacts are made by lugs in the plane of the free end perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the relay.
As a result, the normal mounting position of the relay according to the addition is the lying position. This has the advantage of reducing the overall height of the assembly. Another very important advantage of the modified relay is a reduction in the cost price relating to two items: 1. Savings in the price of the constituent parts; 2. Reduced assembly costs. The invention will be described in detail on a preferred embodiment, with reference to the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a half-schematic sectional view of a relay according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a partially exploded, three-quarter perspective view from one end; Figure 3 is a partially exploded three-quarter perspective view from the other end; FIG. 4 is a view on a larger scale of the contacting device and of the output terminals. In the various figures, the same references designate the same parts.
FIGURE 1 - Advantageously, FIGS. 2 and 3 will be consulted at the same time. The magnetic circuit comprises a first part 110 having a first relatively long part 111, a shorter part curved at 90, 112, and a third part of intermediate length, 113 , still curved at 90, facing the part 111. It also comprises a second part 120 also having three relatively short parts: a part 121 fixed, for example by gluing, at 124 at the end of the part 111, a part 122 curved at 90, parallel to part 112, part 123, parallel to 111, in the plane of part 113, and leaving an opening at 125. The set of two parts 110 and 120 of the magnetic circuit constitutes what a C-structure was called above.
Opposite the opening 125 is a pallet of magnetic material 126 which, in the state of the non-energized relay, is slightly spaced from the opening 125, and in the state of the energized relay comes to rest on the edges of said opening 125. This pallet is secured, for example by riveting, to an insulating part 127, which passes through approximately in its middle by a resilient part of elongated shape, for example one or more metal wires 130.
Wire 130 has one end bent 90 downward, 131; a rectilinear middle part 132, integral with said insulating part 127; a free end 133. Said free end 133 can be linked to a work contact 136 (as shown), or with a break contact 135; the contact 135 is in one piece with an output terminal, the trace of which can be seen in the plane of the figure at 137. The contact 136 is also in one piece with another output terminal which also has its trace at 137. The normally open and normally open contacts are contained in an insulating material housing 138.
A carcass of insulating material 140 contains a coil 141, the ends of which are connected to output pads of which one can be seen at 142. Said housing 138 is secured to the carcass 140 by any known means, for example gluing.
The rectilinear part 132 of the conductor is integral, in the vicinity of the curved part 131 of the magnetic circuit and the carcass.
We see in projection only a single conductor 130 and a single contacting device; in reality there are always several.
It can be seen in figure 1 that the relay inputs (common contacts 131) and the outputs (normally-open contacts, 137) are on either side of the overall structure of the relay, the normal mounting position of which is the lying position.
The carcass is advantageously molded in a single piece, the introduction of the pieces 110 and 120 conveniently taking place in two stages, followed by gluing.
FIGURE 2 - It can be seen that the end of the casing on the contact side comprises a cradle 143, preferably molded in one piece with the casing 140, in which is housed and fixed the insulating material housing 138 which contains the fixed contact parts 135 and 136, and the output lugs 137. The ends of the wires 133 pass between the contacts 135 and 136 in the mounted state.
The equipped housing 138 is fixed in the cradle 143 by any known means, for example by gluing.
The housing 138 comprises two shells 138a, 138b assembled preferably by gluing. 139 denotes an opening which will be described with reference to FIG. 4.
FIGURE 3 - It can be seen that the end of the carcass on the side of the common contacts comprises a tip 144, preferably molded in one piece with the frame 140. This tip 144 has two guides 145 in which a element of a cover (not shown) and a strip 146 carrying notches through which the ends 131 of the wires 130 can exit.
The insulating part 134 fits into an opening 147 formed between the magnetic circuit and the carcass.
An insulating strip 148 is glued against the part 134 to the right of the curvature of the output wires 130.
In the exemplary embodiment presented, the resilient structure is formed for each contact, by two wires, of the piano wire type.
The example described has four normally-open contacts. Of course, in the context of the invention other combinations are possible.
FIGURE 4 - The contact pieces such as 135 and 136, integral with output lugs such as 137, respectively, are seen on a shell 138a of the housing 138, the other upper shell 138b being assumed to be removed. We see at 139 the cutout ensuring the passage and the play of the ends of wires 133 which ensure the rest-work reversal, the output terminals 137 are individually identified by a, b, ... h.
The pieces 135, 136, 137 are preferably cut from a mixed metal strip, having an inner strip of silver and two side strips of copper or the like. In this way we benefit from contacts on precious metal, forming one body with common metal lugs, much less expensive. The low position of the free ends 133 of the wires 130, as shown in FIG. 4, corresponds to the rest state of the relay. When the relay is energized, the wires take a high position corresponding to the work of the relay.
