Abstract
dihydrochloride has psychotropic activity combining neuroleptic, antidepressant and energising effects. It may be prepd. by reducing 3,6-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-gamma-carboline hydrochloride in an aqs. acidic medium at up to 100 degrees C, basifying the reaction mixture, separating off the resulting base and treating this with HCl.
