Heating device for heating sludge, in particular sewage sludge
The fresh sludge that accumulates in wastewater systems through cleaning and, if necessary, thickened is usually passed into a digester, which usually consists of a cylindrical container made of concrete or steel. Here the fresh sludge is subject to an anaerobic digestion process, whereby the inorganic solids are broken down by the microorganisms with the formation of water and digester gas. The course of the process essentially depends on the temperature of the digester content or the sludge. Particularly short decomposition times can be achieved particularly economically by heating the digester contents to a temperature of 300 to 350 Celsius.
It is known to heat the sludge by means of steam through heat exchangers. However, heat exchangers require high investment costs and are very prone to failure and problematic when used for heating sludge. It is also known to directly heat the sludge in the digester by introducing steam into the digester. The digesters set up for this purpose have pipes that pull the resting sludge through and the walls of which are provided with holes. The steam to be introduced flows through the pipes and exits through the holes in the mud, to which it is supposed to give off its heat directly.
With such a procedure, neither the amount of steam to be introduced can be precisely regulated, nor can the steam be evenly distributed in the sludge with every load. The regulation of the amount of steam is very important for process management and economy, and the even distribution of steam in the sludge is crucial for the efficiency of the heating process. Heating devices for the sludge have therefore already been proposed with a transport pipe section and a jacket which surrounds part of this transport pipe section and is to be connected to a steam feed line, the pipe section within the jacket being provided with at least one opening for the steam to pass from the jacket into the transport pipe.
These systems have also not proven themselves adequately because up until now it has not been possible to correctly determine the required amount of steam and thus the necessary inlet cross-section in advance. The present invention is based on the object of eliminating the aforementioned disadvantages of this device in order to ensure economical and uniform heating of the entire sludge entering a digester even with fluctuating loads on the digester and with fluctuating heating loads.
The object is achieved according to the invention in that in the above-described heating device with a transport pipe section and a part of this transport pipe section surrounding jacket to be connected to a steam feed line, the pipe section inside the jacket with at least one opening for the passage of the steam from the jacket into the transport pipe is provided, the cross section of the opening is designed to be adjustable for the passage of steam.
It may be useful to arrange the transport pipe section in such a way that the transport pipe section is formed from two separate sections of the same diameter and that the jacket to be connected to the steam line tapers conically in the flow direction down to the cross section of the transport pipe and the distance forming the steam inlet gap is adjustable between the end of the first section seen in the flow direction and the tapering cone.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the drawing. The three figures of the drawing each show a longitudinal section through an example according to the invention.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the two separate sections of the transport pipe section are denoted by 1 and 2. Each of these sections is provided with a flange la or 2a, which is used to insert the pipe section into a line. The two parts are connected to one another by a jacket 3, which has a connecting piece 4 for connection to a steam supply line, an emptying nozzle 5 that can be closed by a tap, not shown, and a venting nozzle 6 that can be closed by a shut-off device, also not shown. On the end of the section 1 facing the section 2, a sleeve 7 is pushed which has an approximately sawtooth-shaped edge 7a.
This edge 7a of the cuff 7 rests on the edge of the second section 2, so that the opening between the two transport tube sections serving the passage of the steam from the jacket 3 into the transport tube is divided into many parts, the size of which can be changed by moving the cuff 7 . To move the cuff 7, the entire heating device can be removed from the line by loosening the flanges. However, one can also provide a further connecting piece similar to the connecting piece 6, into which a rod connected to the sleeve 7 protrudes and, after screwing on this connecting piece, shift the sleeve through a sleeve pushed over the rod.
The heating device according to FIG. 2 also has two sections of a transport tube. These are denoted here by 11 and 12. A guide sleeve 17, in which one end 13a of a casing 13 is slidably guided, is firmly connected to the subsection 12.
This end is connected to the main casing part 13c by a conical section 13b, the other end of which is provided with a flange 13d sliding on the transport pipe section 11. A seal 19 is used to seal the jacket 13 tightly on the pipe section 11. It is arranged between the flange 13d and a press ring 18 and can be pressed together by tightening screws 20 so that it ensures a secure seal. Here, too, the jacket has a connection stub 14 for connection to a steam supply line, an emptying stub 15 which can be connected by a tap, not shown, and a vent stub 16 which can be shut off by a shut-off device, also not shown.
The connection piece 14 for the steam supply line 30 is connected to this via a flexible line, that is to say for example via a heat-resistant hose 22.
This makes it possible to move the jacket 13 after loosening the screws 20 compressing the seal 19 in order to continuously increase the cross section of the annular gap 10 between the free end of the pipe section 11 and the cone 13b that forms the inlet opening for the steam into the sludge to change and adjust as desired.
A construction that is similar in principle but somewhat simpler is shown in FIG. 3: Here the transport pipe section, which serves to pass the sludge to be heated with steam, is slidably mounted through the nozzle 21, on the free end of which a sleeve 27 is mounted the connecting piece 23a provided with a flange 23d. At the end facing away from the flange 23d, the cone 23b is attached to the connector 23a, to which the actual jacket 23c adjoins. This is welded at 29 to the nozzle 21 and provided with a connection nozzle 24 for connection to a steam supply line, an emptying nozzle 25 that can be closed by a tap, not shown, and a vent nozzle 26 that can be closed by a shut-off device, also not shown. The inlet opening for the steam into the sludge is designated by 28.
Its cross-section can be continuously changed by moving the sleeve 27.
